Torghast is "Horribly Overtuned" Right Now According to the Community

its fine for classes that get insane anima power combos and get lucky, but when i get like 8 commons in a row, and one epic that "increases pet damage through eyes of the beast" (because i want to use my pet for all my damage and not use any of my other anima powers LOL) it *filtered* sucks. Even as a hunter I barely made it through 7 because of my extreme unluckiness combined with *filtered* anima powers

Agreed, I did it with a guildie on Layer 6 last week and he was extremely unlucky on the anima powers and had all the "Defensive" powers as a Destro Warlock, while I had all the damage anima powers as a tank. I jokingly told him that he should tank and I'll just DPS.

The design changes are just bad. I attempted layer 7 as an affliction warlock with 194ish gear last night. Floor 1 went well. The end boss on floor 2 then summoned adds which killed my void walker within a couple of seconds. Affliction simply does not have the burst that would be needed to even have a remote chance of killing those addsd quickly enough.

Walked back, being forced to use cooldowns to kill the random assassins. Wiped again. Left.

I am not convinced that +13 item levels would make a game-changing difference here.

It is not ideal.

Solo Torghast is masochism, but in group it's entertaining enough that I won't complain about it. I think it's the right nudge in the direction to tell people "hey, if you want to solo in an MMORPG you are doing it kinda wrong".

Torghast from the beginning was touted as content you could approach solo or grouped as you choose. I'd bet they used statistics from Horrific Visions to determine just how popular this flexible kind of content is.

Certainly, if they wanted to "nudge" us, all they have to do is not allow solo queue. Instead, they're providing a range of options to keep us playing, whether we want to be overtly social or maybe not for a while.

In any case, if it was just about encouraging group play, ask the group, in the other thread here, how encouraged they felt facing down a boss that hit for almost 3mil and with more health than all known Nathria bosses combined. This isn't just a solo problem.

Honestly I seem to be in a minority, but I think that ramping the difficulty in Torghast up was inevitable; Torghast will eventually have to remain challenging for players in Elite PvP Reward, Mythic Nathria or high-end Mythic+ Dungeon gear, and who have maxed Ve'nari Reputation and are receiving all the benefits of that.

Consider Layer 8 Torghast in light of player with that level of resources, and it makes perfect sense. It's supposed to be hard, it's conceptually based on Roguelikes.

Torghast is a total unbalanced joke, some classes have so fun and overpowered anima powers, 90% of them are pure insane DPS boost. As a hunter, I feel totally cheated and scammed, I just ran into nonsense powers all the time, like trap range, or movement speed increase, 99% of the time never get ANY dps boost at all.

As MMS hunter Torghast mostly is not doable >=6, pet is dying in 2 seconds, you have like ZERO self heal as a hunter, rez taks too long, have to wait for misdirect to be ready. And so on.

Also BM hunter does way to little DPS, especially on single and you cant do the bosses, them killing pets in seconds, all you do is heal pet, throw trap, throw flare, heal pet, rez pet, all on global CD. And then them elite doing insane dmg on you even pet has agro and you do like 100 leech heals agaisnt it. Just a pure joke.

This is not fun.

Those people already have their challenge mode, it just isn't available yet for another....~3-4 weeks.

The regular Torghast wings are NOT the challenge mode. The Twisting Corridors Wing is.

He fails a run for the FIRST time and he complaints?? Torghast SHOULD be hard. My lord, people are so horrible at playing a game, tweaking, figuring things out, getting better... They rather complain the second they meet resistance. With better gear, you will beat each floor eventually, even if you suck at the game. If it is super nerferd now, you will stream through the tower like a cakefest in LFR.

It is nice to finally have a solo challange in WoW, which is fun in its repetative sense. Keep it hard, even make it harder if you ask me. Doesn't take much trying and failing before you figure out how to beat every floor.

Well, good hunter isn't "good" in every aspect of the game rn then. Was in a raid the other day, and witnessed a staggering 7 hunters being top DPS. Not only in aoe, but also singletarget. Gotta love it, when you team up with a hunter in 2s just to see it in action. He stealth opened on a dude, and BOOM, he was dead. Gotta love it man. Hard life.

Solo Torghast is masochism? AHHAHAHAHAHAH. Bro, it's hillarously fun to play it alone. Heck I enjoy it so much, I save it so I have something to look forward to at the end of the week. And hard? Not really? Sure layer 6+ is a struggle, but if you stop fiddling with your *filtered*, and learn from mistakes, play the class properly, you will win. Just buy all the buffs you can in advance, and stop going in like a retard.

A run should take some time if you are high layers, you should die every now and then. You SHOULD struggle. And yes, solo is the best mode. I love every solo aspect of the game, makes it so relaxing to know that I don't have to rely on others who can't play.

I got to floor 13 today with the new release for the quest/twisting corridors.

i felt like a god for 12 straight floors, besides some trap deaths and a massive strike head smash on me. that was fine.

the start of floor 13 i had 45k health. i'm a bm hunter so taking damage shouldn't be an issue. the pet i use has a shield ability which is even better. So. i pull the empowered mini boss, it's a flamecaster. okay, i'll stop the casts with my three cc's. Interupt, intimidation and freeze trap. so i've got about 15 seconds left on the interupt. cool. The next 1 sec cast of fireball goes of on my pet. Half of it's health gone, boom the next cast. he's dead. i pop turtle to revive the pet. all fine.

Now i have no turtle...my pet gets flogged like a piece of poo across a monkey enclosure. i try to revive again. my 4 second cast on revive pet allows the mini boss to hit me with 3 fireballs. i get nuclear bombed. i'm dead now.

i try again with the same outcome.

what the *filtered* blizz. if i hadn't taken the health increases in lieu of damage or utility. 2 casts would kill me.

is this overtuned or not?

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

How to Get the Spirit of Eche'ro Mount
      1. Download MapCoords or some other add-os that displays coordinates in the game.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
