What is the Nicest Thing a Stranger Has Done for You?

Recommended Posts

Here is a compilation of the nicest things that strangers have done for others in WoW.

The first one is a Classic; a player back in Vanilla got rez-killed, so they asked in the chat if anyone was willing to help them. A level 60 Rogue invited them to a group and killed the players a couple of times, and made them disappeared.

Card

Back in Wrath of the Lich King, Reddit user Karutala completed Argent Tournament daily quests and tried to solo the frostwyrm that required 3 players. Right before they were about to die, an Undead Mage polymorphed them, which was confusing at first, but it rapidly increased their health pool, so they didn't die thanks to it. The Horde player broke the polymorphed and helped them kill the frostwyrm. They completed the quest together each day for a week and never saw each other again

Card

Stefanciobo also shared their story. It was during Vanilla when they leveled a Dwarf Warrior. The player killed 3 mobs and was left with 5% health. Suddenly, a Warlord Shadow Priest appeared that targeted them. The player thought the Priest would kill them, but instead, they got mind-controlled, received a Stamina buff and a Renew.

Card

Another wholesome story from Vanilla. TheSaw's first character was a Night Elf Druid. They encountered a level 58 Rogue and another newbie. The Rogue escorted them all the way from Darnassus to Stormwind and gave them 10 gold in the end when they reached the city.

Card

Here is a story of two strangers giving away loot in Heroic Shadowlands dungeons because they didn't need it. The player also tries doing the same to return the favor.

Card

Way back in The Burning Crusade, a player was trying to reach the other continent on a low-level alt, corpse-running through Stranglethoirn, and a Tauren escorted them all the way to Booty Bay.

Card

Chibisatou had a few wholesome points throughout his WoW playtime. The player was given a Sandstone Drake, got escorted from Undercity to Shadowfang Keep, and more.

Card

A random person gave an Ethereal Soul-Trader to Reddit user Suulia.

Card

Back when Jeff reached level 30 with their Orc Warrior in Vanilla, a level 60 Troll Mage carried them through a quest for their Whirlwind axe.

Card

A mad Dwarf carried a player through Azsuna and helped them get Reins of the Long-Forgotten Hippogryph Reins of the Long-Forgotten Hippogryph free without wanting gold.

Card

Back in Legion, 2 Priests disagreed about a boss fight, so they have set up a wager. The loser would buy the winner a store mount...

The loser conceded gratefully and bought the winning player the Enchanted Fae mount.

Card

A random person in Oribos traded Shinslap a Legendary Base Item because they had bought the wrong one and were too lazy to put it up on the Auction House.

Pretty pog gamer moment.

Love to read nice stories like this.

I've encountered many great and friendly people over the years.  The first event that came to my mind though was was back Vanilla when I was leveling a human priest.  I was in the Searing Gorge and had a group of mobs attacking me. I tried my best to fight them, fear them, heal myself, etc. but was pretty much done for when this level 60 tauren warrior was running by and jumped into action.  It was a PvP realm so he could have easily killed me as so many would do but instead he charged in, killed those mobs and saved me.  I was thankful but still warry as those on PvP realms can be when faced with a higher level enemy. To my surprise he saluted me, mounted up and continued on his way to Blackrock Mountain.  Now to this day I have a soft spot for tauren ❤️

I gotta give a shoutout to Brewdwarf on my server who gifted me the 15th Anniversary mount just for finding him in Stormwind. Lovely guy, he used to give out stuff to people all the time. Shame he doesn't seem to be around the server anymore.

I've had several experiences with players randomly doing nice things for me. I had someone give me 30g back when I was a new player at the start of BC. I've had rezes out of the blue by people who wanted to help.

I've tried to pay it forward. With Shadowlands, I sometimes hit the same mob another Alliance player's hitting. Even if it's a wandering hall monster, I fireball them down. Then I will give Arcane Brilliance to the person who was fighting. With a lot of people running, there's a lot of time that I will hit the same mob.

I have 26 toons, all horde, so I decided to make an alliance toon on a low-pop server just to experience the leveling. Of course, this meant I had no resources except anything account-wide, like mounts and pets. I caged up one of my mid-priced pets and put it on the AH to get gold for bags. I also tried asking in chat if anyone was willing to trade gold on one of my high-pop servers for some gold on this one. I got a response and this player gave me 5k gold then and there, then waited for me to send it to them on their other character. I know 5k isn't much these days, but it means a lot to a level 1 with nothing and no alts to help. I immediately thanked her then logged onto my other character to take care of business. It is a big responsibility receiving someone's trust. Her grand gesture deserved no less than my full and immediate attention.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
