Tarazet 144 Report post Posted April 23, 2014 If they are the same ilvl, the 1 hander + offhand is considered better because of the extra enchant you can put on the offhand. If you get a significantly better staff, especially with good stat rolls, then use that instead.
Kazistrasz 216 Report post Posted April 23, 2014 Item level is more important than anything. If you have a staff with a higher ilvl than your main hand, use the staff. If you have a staff and main hand of the same ilvl but a lower ilvl off-hand, use the staff. Assuming all item levels are equal, a main hand and off-hand do provide more stats combined (dat Int), but if you're over hit cap and you have the spirit/mastery mace from Shamans and the Hit/Haste off-hand from Thok, I'd reconsider. Arctodus 1 Report post Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) Staff of the highest ilevel is a great choice because it's more easy to obtain only 1 item than 2. But using 1H + OH it's always the best option if there are good 1H and OH. For Druid Balance: 1H Options: Relic Maze from Garrosh and Maze from Shamans. OH Options: Lantern from Protectors and Orb from Thok. 2H Options: Relic Staff from Garrosh, Staff from Galakras and Staff from Sha. As you can see, there are 3 options for staff so it's more easy and fast to obtain than 2/4 of the options for 1H + OH. Ilevel for weapons wins because the spell power. If you can access a high level staff and you have 1H + OH that have lower level, change it. When you have the staff and the other items appears as loot and no one wants them, you can save it and remove the staff when you obtain both of them. Pandalishis 1 Report post Posted May 1, 2014 Have to look at your stats. If you're hit-capped and the 1h or OH has lots of Sprit on it, you may be shooting yourself in the foot. All 1H+OH does is give you 160 more Int. Depending on your 2H, that could cost you a chunk of a secondary stat that might not be worth it. Balance theorycrafting seems to suggest that crit can be as important as Int at current gear levels.
Quint 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2014 To be honest unless youre under your hit cap, OR you have the BoA mace and Revelations of Y'saarj youre better off using a staff. The benefit of having the extra enchant in the long run wont increase your damage output substantially enough for it to matter. on top of the fact that getting a staff is over all easier than obtaining a 1H + OH. if you can get the BoA mace and off hand from Garrosh then by all means use them, theyre way better than the staff; if not, go with a staff. but thats just my opinion.
