Must-know Twisting Corridors Tips

Recommended Posts

55646-the-twisting-corridors-torghast-ch

As players still play through/struggle/enjoy/hate the Twisting Corridors, there are a few really good tips that will make your stay a lot easier for each run. Just as I was writing up my one big tip for re-rolling the first floor (not for the anima power), claymixer came along and wrote that same one plus a lot more, so I've incorporated them into the post.

You can check out a quick TLDR/bullet points list of what to do and the full tips from claymixer  at the bottom.

The big one, which you might already know, is the re-rolling of the first floor by simply exiting and re-entering. Not only does this reset your first anima power, which is tremendously handy/powerful in its own right, it actually has a much more important function: getting the bad Torments of the Tower out of the way. This may sound less important than getting your BiS anima power, and for some specs that may be true, but for the ones that don't have an I-win button available, the torments are a much bigger problem.

Torment1.jpg

Basically what you want to do is avoid a few key ones, like the extra physical or magical damage, or perhaps even the fire damage % health, although you can mitigate that one in a different way. If you want to go one step further, however, as claymixer points out, the ones you really want are Skoldus Hall or Fractured Chambers, as their torments are simply the out of combat mobs that attack, which have no effect on your run other than being annoying (and avoidable via Maw Rat aggro or staying at the floor entrance if you want to take a break). You can see which wing you've gotten immediately above your minimap or on the torment debuff.

Between the two of them you'll want Fractured Chambers, as they hold an anima power that can make you set for Phantasma for a long while: Marrow Scooper Marrow Scooper. You get this by buying a Ravenous Anima Cell Ravenous Anima Cell from the first vendor and using it on any mob in the Fractured Halls other than Skeletal Remains or the invading/not native mobs (fire elementals, fae etc).

torments3.jpg

Now if you want to go REALLY nuts you can combine the above with ALSO getting your optimal (or at least a very good) anima power, and re-roll for a loong time, to set up that perfect run. You might want to do this with the final layer only, as it could take a while to get all that set up.

There's also a side-tip that goes together with the above: by resetting the first floor you also get to choose your legendary memory rewards in case you still haven't gotten them or are on an alt, so you don't need to wait for the weekly Torghast rotation (but you'll still need to be on the right layer, so go for 3+ to be safe or check your specific memory requirement)!

The second big completion tip from claymixer is to get all the Ravenous Anima Cell Ravenous Anima Cells you can and, other than using it on the fire mages in Soulforges (if you opted for that as your first or get it as your second wing), you save the rest up and hope you get Skoldus Hall. That particular wing holds the extra 10-20 Soul Remnant's Blessing Soul Remnant's Blessing power that drops when you use the Ravenous Anima Cell Ravenous Anima Cell on the archers or interceptors. This means you can get 40-80% main stat from these cells alone!

So here's a quick recap/TLDR on the main tips for all classes and specs:

  • Re-roll first floor away from physical/magic damage increase.
    • Also if you still need it, re-roll until you get a wing you want a legendary memory from.
  • If you feel like it find Fractured Chambers in your first floor.
    • Get the first Ravenous Anima Cell Ravenous Anima Cell and use it on any non Skeletal Remains or the invading/not native mobs for easy Phantasma gain.
  • Save up the rest of your Ravenous Anima Cell Ravenous Anima Cells for the off-chance you get Skoldus Hall as your next wing.
    • Use all the saved up Ravenous Anima Cell Ravenous Anima Cells on archers or interceptors for the 10-20 Soul Remnant/% main stat power.

And here's claymixer's full tips, with Rogue-specific ones at the end:

  • Thanks 3

"This means you can get 40-80% main stat from these cells alone!"

That's sadly wrong. It gives upon click 10-20 souls not as I also thought a basicly it reads like it from every cage you open afterwards. But even then it's kinda handy cause you not need much powers from cells besides less fire dmg for soulforges or maybe movementspeed out of combat or in some particular builds the 10sec 100% crit rate after getting a remnant from kvaldir mobs.

I simply advice to browse Wowhead once and you'll find a detailed list what the ravenous cells occurs on which type of mob.

I think you missed that 'cells' is plural. I didn't knew about this but saved up 4 of these cells on my last run and found out myself that these guys drop that anima power. I ended up using all 4 cells on these mobs and gained around 65 souls. That's 65% main stat increase from these cells alone, exactly as stated in the article. So no, it's not wrong.

you used it on the wrong mob .. the cage one anima power is dogshit ..

the one he means is only from archers and interceptor and it gives you like he wrote 11-20 soulthingys  .. and with 3-4 ravenous orbs you come to 44-80 %

Brilliant tactics and tips Claymixer and Starym. My buddy and I completed layer 4 following your advice after failing an earlier attempt and dying repeatedly to The Grand Malleare.

Following your tactics, we exited and re-entered the Corridors until we got Fracture Chambers, got the Scooper and ended up with thousands of phantasma between us. Made a huge difference. Bought and used every ravenous sphere we could. By floor 18 there was nothing left to buy. Boss (Synod) was a nightmare but we managed to do it.

Thank you!

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
