The Worst/Most Hated World Quest? + a Tip for Another

Recommended Posts

th1uhfQ.jpg

If I asked you to think of your least favorite Shadowlands World Quest you probably couldn't immediately think of one, but when you see this one and remember it, we're pretty sure you'll agree it's just the worst.

The Bastion Flight School: Up and Away! World Quest is genuinely one of the worst ever made, and when I came upon this reddit post it immediately reminded me of my own horrific experiences with it, and reading the comments it really is no one's favorite. The flowers just randomly decide not to work, and despite the fact that I've only done the quest maybe twice, this crazy feeling of rage immediately took me over when watching the footage above.

Here are just some of the comments on the wonderful flying flowers:

Quote

Yeah, this world quest nearly made me smash my monitor

In addition to not getting credit unless you force yourself to hit that last flower, there are several flowers on the way up that just don't register touches sometimes. Buggy pile of shit.
- 0nlyRevolutions

It's bugged to hell and back. Numerous flowers didn't register as hits to jump on the way up for me, must have done it at least 15 times before getting to getting to the top. THEN it decides to do what you encountered after I didn't hit the last flower. Went and did it another 6 times (thanks bugged flowers) and made sure I hit the last flower and it worked. If you have the patience, it's possible!
- kiwifruit56

I know there are a lot of long and drawn out World Quests but none are infuriating as this. I think this is the worst World Quest in Shadowlands. Besides being bugged, if your ping is high you'll fail this.
- Shara184

However, we also got an explanation on what's (most likely) happening and a potential solution!

Quote

So this is because of how Blizzard updates your location. Similar to how you can sometimes run indoors on a mount for like 8 seconds.

Hitting strafe left and stride right forces an update to your character location. Try it now! Ride into the bank and don’t hit anything. Then do it again while spamming strafing keys.

Now for the flowers, spam A and D (or whatever you bind strafe to) and you should never miss a flower since your position will be updated.

And now let's move on to a much better WQ, with a tip for it that will make an already pretty short and chill quest even shorter! In the Aid From Above WQ, you can significantly speed things up by spamming the drop crate icon when you're in the correct position. Presumably due to server lag, you can actually drop as many as three crates at once (but will usually and consistently drop two), making the quest one of the absolute fastest in the Shadowlands.

So what are some of your favorite and least favorite World Quests in the Shadowlands?

After my first foray into them, I avoid any of the Flight School like the plague. There's one that I can't even comment on because it was always broken when I would try it. Better to just make them go away, quietly and in shame.

How about the WQ in Maldraxxus that has you run the torch to five braziers, only to phase out all the time? That one is an auto skip for sure.

Best one is the parasol. Worst... *everything* else. Wqs are so horribly bad this expansion and what makes them worse than usual is that they're so spread out(bastion LUL). In the past we had the whistle which made them less of a chore we don't now because reasons.

The Flappy Bird on paragon difficulty EASILY takes the top spot for rage-inducing quests. Up and Away is a breeze: turn a bunch in the air, don't aim for the middle of the flowers, and bounce off the last one just to be safe to get credit. Patience, champion.

never had a problem with those quest, mostly one shot them every time, maybe the flappy bird one is a little frustrating but not that bad, the worst WQ ever are the tortolla ones

Well, for me is the one in the maw's last zone where we have to kill an elite mob (i guess) , marked with symbol but it never actually shows up cuz it has been broken. It was a nightmare to get there on the foot as a priest and find out it was a waste of time. Another players were lingering at that area like a lost spirit going up and down searching for that target.

Duno if it was fixed yet.

The Shadehounds Hunt, I believe and yes, they have fixed the issue. Do you have a least favorite World Quest that is actually working, though?  Curious as to what chaps the hide of other players in regards to daily chores.

That's weird, I always do that one, never had an issue, guess it's the same as with others that did the flower one with no issues while it's completely non-functional for me.

You're probably not avoiding the slimes on the road.

I don't do the flying WQs often. I either nail them or I can't hit the broad side of a barn. Absolute worst - Aiding the hunt party in Tirna Scithe. That maze is so full of elites, and who the hell knows where the hunting party is. They put a "fix" in to track the party better but you still have to get through nasty mobs just to start fighting more nasty mobs. I avoid that area. Got the mount and counted it good.

Well, I don't know if I am lucky or not, I never have a problem with the flower jumping world quest. I always use right click mouse button to control my character during the quest, which allows me to change direction more precisely and quickly. Perhaps my character's position is always updated through this way of strafing? (might actually be a great trick for this wq!)

That one is easy. don't miss any speedups and don't touch any of the slimes in your path. they will make you drop the torch.

If you dont want to walk in Maw by foot, then i suggest that you do L8 ofTwisting Corridors for Corridor Creeper   mount, which can be mounted in Maw 🙂

Well, if I'm not mistaken the topic was about the most hated world quest. This was my choice due to the dangerous long walk for nothing.

When the quest was broken (which was in the first few weeks) many people wandered there on foot, including me. At that time the twisting corridor wasn't even available yet. Yes, I have that mount in my collection already but blizz fixed that quest on the same week when the Twisting Corridors became available anyway.

I found Flapping Frenzy even harder than Up and Away! I kept failing when it didn't look like I touched a spear and after a half-dozen failed attempts I gave up and walked away. I'm pretty sure the issue is input lag and client/server position differences. Falling with Style is also annoying but at least once you get over a ring you can circle-strafe to stay over it and go though.

My favorite is Just Winging It in Maldraxxus. It's super-easy, fast, and conveniently takes me back to Seat of the Primus.

Hitbox seemed pretty inconsistent. It appears as if spears on the upper side have smaller hitbox, while getting even close to those at the bottom counts as touching them.

Another great tip I found out in the WQ "Pest Removal" in Ardenweald is that, when you click on a burrowing mite leg, mount up and run and you wont have to fight the add it usually spawns!

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
