Community-Suggested Quality-of-Life Improvements for Shadowlands

Recommended Posts

55527-reduced-loot-quantities-in-shadowl

A list of improvements the community would like to see in future Shadowlands content patches.

An interesting thread appeared on Reddit that deals with quality-of-life improvements for Shadowlands, and in this article, we're highlighting the most interesting ones.

  • Shadowlands Intro Skip
    • This one's quite high on the priority list. The Shadowlands intro questline is lengthy, and many would like to see it go and port straight to Oribos and start with Threads of Fate on their alts.
  • The Return of Valor Points?
    • The community would like to see some currency for PvE (Mythic dungeons and raids), so most people don't feel like Tuesday is the only day of the week they can get an upgrade. We posted about the likelihood of duplicates in the Great Vault, and given that loot is scarce in Shadowlands, a currency would be a much welcome addition.
  • Fix Legion Scaling
    • Legion is 2 expansions old now, and by this time, we should be one-shotting Legion raid bosses. On the contrary, there's something wrong with scaling, so it's even more difficult to solo Legion bosses now than it was before the pre-patch squish. Nothing has been done to-date to offset that. A simple flat buff that would increase damage/healing done in raids would fix the issue.
  • Legendary Power Overhaul
    • Some Legendary Powers are underperforming, and some tuning would be nice to bring them on par with the most utilized ones.
  • Increase to Anima Gains
  • Soul Ash Catch-up for Alts
    • Currently, there's no way for alts to catch up on Soul Ash, the Torghast currency needed to craft Legendary items.
  • More Cosmetic Rewards from Torghast
    • If you earn the mount that works in the Maw, you're pretty much done with Torghast. It would be really great to see more cosmetic rewards, similar to Island Expeditions and the various pets, mounts, and transmog that you could obtain from the mode.
  • Solo Queue for Ranked PvP
    • Queueing up for Rated Battlegrounds alone would be a really nice improvement.

Some low-priority improvements include auto-looting Phantasma from mobs in Torghast, solo queue for Island Expeditions, now that the mode is dead, bringing back the Flight Whistle, and more.

Anima increase across the boards! I don't raid or dungeon dive for the most part and, as with so much else in the game, that should be my choice without feeling excluded or marginalized.

I might also add either shared covenant rep gains or ramped rep for alts as they have done in the past.

With rested XP the intro quest is good for a level and then some...so I don't mind it. There should be an option though for folks that don't like it.

Considering the amount of things that call for anima there either has to be other sources introduced and/or increase the amounts currently being rewarded.

The flight whistle should also make a return. The excuse that it doesn't work in SL is pretty lame...if not an outright lie.

All solid suggestions. I'd add soul ash catchup for mains. I dont think there's much point to missing out on many legendaries/higher ranks if you're busy/working alot/just wanna play the game in small bursts.

  • Auto speed boost when you enter your covenant sanctum (like they did in another expac)
  • Auction house non-stacked items should not be last in, first out - randomize the returned list so crafters don't spend hours trying to keep their item as the last in
  • Increase the anima for WQs
  • Increase the number of WQs
  • Convert left over phantasma to anima
  • More reasons to do Torghast (gear drops)
  • Ease up on the Maw Jailer aggro to allow people to spend more time exploring it

Agree with the sentiment that increasing anima gains just for people who do Mythics and raid is a dumb idea,  anima mostly go to the  covenant upgrades for mostly cosmetic rewards and they have no affect on either so tying increased gains so only raiders and mythic+ runners seems petty.  Adding anima as an additional reward to the daily calling reward chests seems like a much better idea.  It's accessible, requires a minimal time investment, and it can't be repeatedly farmed / exploited so Blizz would still be able to control the actual gains.   Adding a way to get gear from Torghast (even if just 1 pieces a week) would also be a nice addition.

I agree. I play Horde and Alliance and this is the most BORING intro of any xpac! I mean - it's the exact same for both sides!!!!!! Sick of Jaina!

Hardly, the amount granted was so pitiful it was almost insulting. With the loot drops being nerfed as hard as they are, anima was mostly the only reward for doing either, and 35 for a 30m+ M+ was just bleh. Given a WQ would give that in 2m.

Agreed it'd make doing the ones that don't give a purple chest more appealing too.

Anima rewards from WQ should scale at the existing Renown checkpoints. If I can get 194 gear from WQ and Mission Table, then I shouldn't see less than 140 Anima from any WQ.

Also, the Anima rewards are inconsistent. Some days a WQ rewards 70, some days 105, some days 140, for the SAME WQ.

Make Torghast an endgame activity!

Balance it, and make it a viable endgame. Grant a cache on completion that grants some stuff from the World Quest pool (Anima to gear etc), more stuff per layer completed.....

I think the mode has potential, but Blizz will screw it up! They will fail to balance it, make it a chore, make it unrewarding, and drop it at the end of shadowlands, like 99% of their experiments......

Solo queuing for rated bgs, your rating would never go above 1400.

EXACTLY. If even that high. I don't get why people think solo rated PVP would be a good thing. You're not going to get anything better experience wise than just playing a BG. Have they ever queued into a pre-made? It's miserable, and that's most likely what you'd be doing. Imagine if you could do Raid Finder, but it was on mythic difficulty for that current raid. People would complain endlessly.

If you want to yolo into 2s or 3s, just look around in group finders or chats because it's not hard to find a rando to queue with. If you want to get above 1400 you need to have something that's relative synergy and voice chat. PVP gear can be good for some specs, but it's 200 until you're 1400+. I'd say on whole Heroic Nathria is easier to get 207-213 gear. Even if you're amazing at PVP, getting up to the 1800 area you need is a relatively serious grind for the number of games you have to play.

Yes! I agree with a lot of this but I have some to add.

1. You should be able to fly to an adjacent zone without flying back to Oribos.

2. Mythic Plus listings should have a new group listed at the bottom and those that have been waiting for awhile for a tank/healer sitting at the top of the list.

3. Tougher banhammer for spammers. No more selling runs! It goes against the spirit of the game.

4. Easier catchup for Alts.

5. Anima transfer when switching covenants and an all-around easier/faster getting renown.

6. Ability to use a 2nd Legendary.

Flight whistle. It has been in previous expansions and worked well.

Fishing, alchemy and other profession world quests rewards - Give fish, herbs, ore that are native to the place you are doing the quest. No one needs 20x lost sole or death blossom, we have plenty in stock. It would be nice to actually receive a quest reward like Marrowroot or Pocked Bonefish if the quest is in Maldraxxus for example.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

For the next two weeks, the Archaeology quest for Spirit of Eche'ro is available on live servers, so don't forget to get the rare mount before it's gone for 6 months!
How to Get the Spirit of Eche'ro Mount
      1. Download MapCoords or some other add-os that displays coordinates in the game.
      2. Teleport to Azsuna from the Stormwind/Orgrimmar Portal Room or use your Dalaran Hearthstone to reach Dalaran (Legion) if you have one in your inventory.
      3. Seek out Archaeology Trainer Dariness the Learned in Dalaran at 41,26 and learn Archaeology if you already haven't.
      4. Accept The Right Path quest from the Archaeology Trainer and make your way to Thunder Totem in Highmountain.
      5. Talk to Lessah Moonwater to accept Laying to Rest. For the quest, you must collect 600 Bone Fragments of Eche'ro by rotating between four digsites in Highmountain. The exact locations with coords are outlined below.
Digsite 1: Darkfeather Valley (50, 44) Digsite 2: Dragon's Falls (58, 72) Digsite 3: Path of Huin (44, 72) Digsite 4: Whitewater Wash (39, 65) it takes roughly around 2 hours to get the mount.
      Spirit of Eche'ro
"The spirit of Huln Highmountain's pet moose."

Hurry up! You only have until August 21, 2024, to get the mount!

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
