Gear Questions for Destro HC progression

I have 2 quick questions about my gear. First, I currently have HC non set shoulders and Head, and normal set hands, chest and legs. Is it worth downgrading to normal head or shoulders to get the 4 piece bonus (Destro lock)? 

 

Also, I am dual specced affliction, and I was wondering what a good level of haste to have is. I know I could get a second set of gear, but my raid team is clothy heavy so it would take quite a while, as afflic is my off-spec. Thanks in advance.

Yes, the four piece is a huge bonus for destro and once you get the hang of it you can sync your chaos bolts and immolates to it, leading to essentially half a dark soul on them (remember immolate crit ticks generate emberbits so that makes the 15% crit huge for it). Keep your  HC nonset shoulders most likely (can't see which ones you have given your lack of armory or item link) but normal tier head would benefit you.

 

The breakpoint you should aim for if you're just starting is 9778 in most cases but also 13737. I'm assuming you are not decked in heroic gear and 9778 is most likely the breakpoint for you, but in either case do not sacrifice a lot of mastery in order to reach a cap. Black blood can help you reach your breakpoint of choice quite well.

I would agree with Phenax on everything.

 

4 Piece is very very strong and worth the temp ilvl drop to get.  You will be using the Shoulders you have as you off piece. 

 

After Mastery, Destruction work equally well with stacked haste or Crit.. Or even an even mix like I have.  Since you have Aff as your off spec it makes sense to go the Haste route.

 

With your current gear I would not push the 13,737 if your mainly Destro as you would need top drop 500 mastery or so to get there.  I am unsure for Affliction if the lost mastery is worth it, other more exp Afflocks could chime in on that.

 

If you stay at the 9778 breakpoint, but continue to prioritize haste over crit after the breakpoint (even if not hitting the next main breakpoint) you can pickup a a bunch of extra mastery and more haste.

 

once you get a heroic bindings or a few more upgrades you should be able to hit the 13k one with little problems.
