Mok'Nathal Race Concept Models

Recommended Posts

8ymKA2b.jpg

The half orc half ogre Mok'Nathal finally get some love, as Lonely Road pictures made some concepts for the race! Rexxar's kind don't get much attention in WoW, but they will be featured in an upcoming cinematic by Lonely Road and so they got some pretty cool models ready!

One of the characters above is having way too much fun and might just be too cool for Wow. Plenty of players would have preferred this particular race to the slightly more generic mag'har we actually got (although straight-backs are always welcome), so we can hopefully see more of them in the future and give those tauren some size competition!

Some great work by Lonely Road!

Rexxar is a bad a$$ and those concepts are cool, but if Mok'Nathal become playable we can pretty much forget about getting the real deal - ogres. I'd rather have a unique race instead of the hybrid.

Not sure why anyone would want playable ogres.

Now, that's a proper Allied Race!
I wish Blizzard would bring these instead of made up Void Elves.
While they're at it, they can also fix Survival and Beast Mastery specs so they can mimic Rexxar fantasy too ;>

Torn on this.

Rexxar is awesome and I feel like keeping the Mok'Nathanal rare in WoW is part of his cool factor.  Making an allied race would be a sea of them, and that would impact that.

On the other hand, freely admit I would main one with no shame. 😉

Would be a reason for me to switch from alliance to horde tbh.
but i'll doubt it
it would need another lore smash like they did in wod and we all know how that went

because afaik the mok'nathal wanted nothing to do with the horde so it would be strange if they would wanna join the horde with blizzards lore smashes not impossible but not sure how the comm would react

and yes survival was never really good in pve so it would need some real love blizz

I really hope we can get the playable Mok'Nathal. Since we'll fight Yrel, I have a hunch that we will go to Alt Draenor and recruit races like the Arrakoa. Remember the cancelled Shattrath raid?

Plus, they don't make new models from scrath for a character, unless they're setting up something big. Look at Nathanos. He got a new model in Legion, but he got bigger role in the next expansion.

Although ogres can grow to be very large, so playable tauren sized ogres would look rather weird next to others. Mok'nathal are smaller and I think they would likely reuse a modified Kul Tiran model.

Also it looks like Blizzard kinda wants to avoid all that mess with half-breeds. Outside of Rexxar (and even he didn't appear that much) we aren't really seeing any other mixed races. There is also Arator, but he's a rather minor character. Another weird thing is the size difference between orcs and ogres, yet they were able to have an offspring. At least orc and ogre made a bit of sense, other than size differences, both are races related to Titans. We've also got orcs and draenei, races from two different planets being somewhat compatible. It was similar with humans and elves, two different origins (although both from Azeroth), but again mixing was possible. Yet we didn't see any other half-races, even with those close to each other like gnomes and dwarves. So this might be just a remnant of older lore, like Dragonmaw Clan of orcs.

I disagree with that, it will be just fine. Speaking of the Kul Tirans, they are human right, yet it seems their models were made with complete disregard to the rest of the races, because they are bigger than orcs, elves and draenei.

That's good. Rexxar is a wandering warrior, just like the character he is based on, who was never comfortable being part of society. Having a thriving clan of his people around is fine, as long as it's kept in obscurity, otherwise it would take away from his uniqueness.

Well Rexxar himself is unique, most of his people lived in villages. At least in TBC, as they were oddly missing in WoD except for alternate Rexxar.

Maybe some would be fine with smaller ogres, but at the same time there will be a lot of disappointment. Not sure if a lot of people want to actually play them, except for some vocal minority, also a lot of armor on such race would look badly stretched if they put them as it is (perhaps a different model is required, although even some playable races have this issue).

Here's the thing with ogres, the Horde was first established with orcs, tauren and trolls - savage brutes, berserkers, bloodlust, blood and thunder... ogres are a race that just belongs in the Horde, and because of that it feels like they are way overdue in being made playable. What we've got instead is two types of elves and fuking foxes in the Horde man, wtf is that?

Well this is Thrall's Horde that was founded without ogres (remnants of the old one continued to exist, one branch ending up under Illidan, other with Twilight's Hammer) and with different goals in mind, while previous one was just a puppet organisation for Gul'Dan and Burning Legion. Wouldn't call them exactly savage, tauren are peaceful, violence is the last resort, Darkspear kinda fit into that category too, Zandalar is also highly civilized, albeit largely in ruins now. Orcs had mostly peaceful coexistence with draenei before corruption due to demonic blood, plus their lifestyle changed a bit since they permanently settled on Azeroth.

Although ogres can still fit (and there are also some smart ogres), the only friendly clan was almost completely destroyed and others remain scattered with (or without) their own affiliations. Agree about vulpera, they were kinda out of nowhere, like many other races before them, yet many people seem to like them, especially those with... Very particular tastes.

Of course those races are civilized, I'm not saying constant aggression and warmongering, I just pointed out the things that make the Horde bad a$$. If you're telling me you never saw the ogres as a Horde race by default, that's a perspective I'll never understand. And is that the Stonemaul clan being almost destroyed? When did that happen?

Black Dragonflight destroyed their village in classic, but there are of course some survivors. In Cataclysm they still haven't regained it. Sure they would fit well, but would be good if there was some explanation. Not that it stopped them before from adding races with very low population.

Didn't cataclysm revamp a few zones to give ogre allies back to the horde, like in Feralas and in Dustwallow Marsh?

If blizzard is not doing it because they think the armor will look weird, i show you EXHIBIT A: PANDAREN BELLY.

I'm part of the Horde and I wanna play a giant ugly *filtered* that can kill you with 1 punch.

What other reason would you need... I mean APART from the fact they were one of the original Horde members and ARE STILL Horde members under Rexxar's command?

You forgot that ogre survivors also came with Mag'har survivors from alt Draenor.

I know, there is probably just a handful of them. Still don't like having whole race from alternate universe with female Thrall as leader, wouldn't want another. Btw, Rexxar isn't in command of any ogres, he relinquished his position of Stonemaul chieftain right after conflict. He preferred to wander alone.

I love how this thread brought out all the passionate ogre supporters. 😂

Like some other old school hordies, when I was a kid the Horde was orcs, trolls, and ogres, with goblins that blew themselves up. We're only missing one ingredient left for that tasty nostalgia stew!

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
