Huge Possible Spoiler and Story Implications for the Final Sanctum of Domination Sylvanas Encounter

Recommended Posts

A very interesting thing has come up during today's raid testing, which might very strongly indicate that there will be a huge and somewhat unexpected (at least this early) confrontation taking place at the end of the Sanctum of Domination! Big potential spoilers ahead!

Pauper_Jenkins looked around the raid using Far Sight and spotted the Arbiter's room from Oribos inside the raid, which means there might be something happening there.

Source.

But what could that something be? We've already seen the very top of Torghast in the recent Sanctum raid sneak peek, and the Arbiter's room actually is positioned above it there as well. Obviously the Arbiter's room isn't literally "above" Torghast, but these are the Shadowlands we're talking about, and the Jailer surely has his ways of traversing as well. It's also likely that the Sylvanas encounter will take place at the top of the tower... at least at first. If we take a look at the final raid encounter in more detail, the Dungeon Journal states that in the later phases Sylvanas waylays the players as the Jailer "ascends":

Clipboard02.jpg

The above happens after Sylvanas "destroys" the tower below, so we're definitely heading up, and is followed by:

Clipboard04.jpg

Final showdown between Death and inevitability? If you factor in the Oribos room into all that, it seems pretty likely we'll be seeing the Jailer facing off against the Arbiter, in one of the most one-sided fights in history unless the big soul dispatcher wakes up or someone other than us steps in to help, as we'll be busy with Sylvanas. This also indicates that the Jailer might be getting another key at the end of the raid, with theories about the Arbiter's chest-gem/pearl finally being resolved. Also, that means the final part of our fight with Sylvanas might be in that same room, and if I were a betting man I'd say those portals all around the platform will come into play.

This is a hugely interesting twist, as we weren't quite expecting the story to progress quite this fast. Also, could this possibly mean 9.2 will be the final raid/patch of Shadowlands? It seems like an extremely big leap there, but considering the delays we've already seen and 9.1 coming in 2-3 (or more?) months, it's possible Blizzard sped up the story a little. Then again it's just as likely that this was planned all along, but considering the relatively low stakes/story implications of Castle Nathria, this is a pretty huge step up - that is if any of it is true.

We still don't now what exactly happens at the end of the Sanctum of Domination, but the above is a pretty solid theory at this point, as I'm pretty sure the Jailer will get all of his keys before the end of Shadowlands. I just wasn't expecting it to go this quickly...

As long as Sylvanas doesnt get killed and disappears from the content, i am fine with whatever outcome. Sylvanas storydevelopment has been topnotch in the last couple of years. would be a shame if it ends abruptly 😞

I really really really hope you're being sarcastic because that was the worst take I've ever heard. But to be fair, the average Sylvanas fan is maybe not the sharpest.

oh boy sylvanas fans are realy hated here. im a undead player since classic so logicly i stand behind my queen and to be fair not every thing she did was nice but its war and lets be real many of the bad things she did in bfa was motivatet by the jailer cause on the search for a way for here people to survive she made a mistake and got bind in his service or something like this and the one thing that makes me believe this is that if you side with her as a horde player even after what happens at the gate of og you meet her in the ghostlands and she doesnt talk like a power hungry maniac but like someone who realy trys to find a way out of this *filtered* and even if she totaly got nuts and wants every single soul to be dead with her backstory i think you are allowed to go nuts

hoping for the opposite.  Sylvanas needs to be removed from the game and never seen again.  I'm tired of writing that seems like it's taken the diary of a 14 year old emo teen.

You... should prolly look into other games besides wow then.  That's as good as it gets for the wow writing staff lol.  😜

To counter the idea that they'll rush the end of the expansion, that would imply that the next expansion is being worked on and could be released in an acceptable amount of time after 9.2...Blizzard has been so obviously far behind that I wonder if they even know the main plot of the next expansion yet... "Something something light is evil, Yrel is Hitler!"

Also I hope this isn't another goddamn Nyalotha, where a storyline is rushed, a top tier villain is wasted and we get an extremely short cinematic to wrap things up, and missing some key points like how the Giant Sword is still stabbing Azeroth and Azerite is still boiling out and whatnot.    We barely have spent any time with the jailor and have uncovered almost none of Sylvannas's motives.    They've been dropping hints for years now since the start of Legion about her having some grand scheme...what is the Jailer and her plan, what steps drove her towards it, what do each of them stand to gain, etc etc.

Oh I didn't mean they'll rush the expansion in terms of actual real world time, just the story. 9.1 and 9.2 could last a looooooooooooooong time.

They did it before in the gap between the last content patch of WoD and the release of Legion. It's not beyond them to do it again.

You mean like they did with Illidan originally? And Grommash? And Sargeras? This is Blizzard's M.O.

The Sargeras part pissed me off SOOO much. It's the one thing about Legion I genuinely hate, just hey, he appears in the last 2 seconds and gets imprisoned, BYE 15 YEAR STORYLINE, SEE YOU LATER.

I actually wasn't so pissed off about that because it would have seemed totally ridiculous for mortals to be able to fight with Sargeras from the start.    Us fighting a weakened titan with the keeper's aid was already pretty lore-bendy.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
