Hybrys 199 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 Hey everyone, As you may know, we'll be seeing 5.4.8 today which brings an additional 2 item upgrades to each of our armor pieces. Because of that, I wanted to show and prove my theorized most optimal upgrade order. 1. Main-hand or 2H Weapon 2. PBoI/PPoP/AoC 3. Chest/Helm/Pants (If they're 559 base ilvl or higher. If not, do the Cloak first) 4. Legendary Cloak 5. Secondary trinkets 6. Boots/Shoulders/Belt/Gloves/Bracers 7. Rings/Neck/Offhand or Shield AskMrRobot and several other sources show the Cloak over the Trinkets/Chest/Helm/Pants, but the math doesn't add up. It's important to note that the Cloak's proc damage and chance do not change with these upgrades. Xing-Ho @ 608 1855 Int 2902 Stam 991 Crit/Haste/Mastery Xing-Ho @ 616 2005 Int 3127 Stam 1070 Crit/Haste/Mastery Difference 150 Int 225 Stam 79 Crit/Haste/Mastery (237 total secondaries) Headpiece of Celestial Harmony (Ele Set Helm) @ 574 2290 Int 3795 Stam 1280 Haste 1736 Mastery Headpiece of Celestial Harmony (Ele Set Helm) @ 582 2486 Int 4089 Stam 1388 Haste 1880 Mastery Difference 196 Int 294 Stam 108 Haste 144 Mastery (252 total secondaries) Conclusion Upgrading the Helm is mathematically worth more than upgrading the Cloak. The same applies to Chest and Pants, as long as you can use both secondary stats. Even if one is spirit (such as the Ele set pants) the extra Int gain should be able to carry forward the difference. Hybrys 199 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 Now for the 'show your math' part for Amp trinkets being second in line to upgrade. PBoI @ 574 8.52% of current Haste/Mastery/Spirit 8.52% additional Crit damage ~2480 Int Value from the proc (14303 @ 17.4% theoretical uptime) PBoI @ 582 9.17% of current Haste/Mastery/Spirit 9.17% additional Crit damage ~2680 Int Value from the proc (15409 @ 17.4% theoretical uptime) Difference 0.65% of current Haste/Mastery/Spirit 0.65% additional Crit damage ~200 Int Value from the proc Amp values, based on my current stats: 21406 Mastery * 0.65% = 139 Mastery 13928 Haste = 91 Haste 4700 Spirit = 31 Spirit ~60% of damage is from critical hits = 0.39% direct DPS gain. (ref) ~400k DPS * 0.39% = ~1560 direct DPS increase. ~300k DPS * 0.39% = ~1170 direct DPS increase
Hybrys 199 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 The logic behind upgrading the cloak first is not that is unlikely you'll ever change it for another one? No, because then it wouldn't compete with BiS items, such as the Ele set helm/chest/pants. I do mention that if your items aren't Warforged normal or higher in their base ilvl, the cloak will be the better. Besides, item replacement shouldn't factor into it, since you can't typically rely on replacing anything until you get the boss down. More stats = more damage/healing = bosses die more frequently. wooprat 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 Will this affect our stat prio in any way? I'll be at 99,17% mastery when I upgrade this week, next week I'll be at 100%
Hybrys 199 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 Will this affect our stat prio in any way? I'll be at 99,17% mastery when I upgrade this week, next week I'll be at 100% No, Ele stat prios stay as they are. EB Ele: Hit > Mastery to 87.4% (minus EB*Amp) > Haste > Crit UF/PE Ele: Hit > Mastery to 100% > Haste > Crit Both Enh and Resto will stay the same as well. Enh: Hit = Exp > Mastery >= Haste > Crit Resto: Spirit to comfort > Crit > Haste > Spirit > Mastery.
Wungles 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) One question: Does the legendary cloak's proc scale with the upgrade and, if so, have you figured that into your math? Edit: I just saw your note about the proc not scaling. Are you sure? Edited May 20, 2014 by Wungles
Hybrys 199 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 One question: Does the legendary cloak's proc scale with the upgrade and, if so, have you figured that into your math? Edit: I just saw your note about the proc not scaling. Are you sure? 100% sure, as I currently have mine at 4/4, and I've compared it to similar 2/4s. The spell power of the proc and the proc chance both are not increased by raising the cloak's ilvl. You may see the proc chance increase, but that is because of the way the RPPM on the cloak scales with haste, and the intrinsic haste gain from the ilvl gain.
