There is a trait in the box of many things that gives you a small % to avoid death penalty, but its not really something to be relied on. In my experience, as a solo player you can have at least one death in your run with no penalty, but if you are finding yourself dying consistently you should probably play more defensive talents / legendaries / soulbinds / anima powers!
