hakiro09 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 Hi this is my first post. I have been playing wow from vanilla but I never reached final content on any expansion until a few weeks ago.I play a shaman ench level 90, I always found the shaman hard to play well and sometime frustrating especially when it comes to aoe and multiple target fights.I kept playing it because it was my first ever toon and I always liked the fact that i could heal my self.a week ago I made a warlock and I found it much more fun to play and easier to play well(for now), also the tank pet is very good for questing and taking multiple mob down. My question is should I make the warlock my main? the warlock is at level 42, I should be able to make it lv 60 in a week and boost it to lv 90 by buying the expansion WoD Also if I choose to make the warlock my main what should I do with the shaman? should I make the shaman a healer?I never heal in a instance or raid before.I tried elemental in cataclysm and didn't like it much. Also i don't have a guild for raid so no help form guild, lfr is my only way of getting some equipment(and timeless isle which I hate very much especially with the shaman). Also I would have to get the LFR tier 16 again for the warlock but if I keep the shaman I can try to join a guild and get some Flexy equipment. help me decide guys thanks
Hybrys 199 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 Have you tried Elemental on your Shaman? Enhancement is a very difficult and attentive playstyle, where as Ele is a little simpler, and has comparable DPS. Now, if you like the Warlock more, I say just run with it! Having fun is what the game is all about, right? If you do aim that direction, you could reserve your shaman for PvP or Healing, if you wanted to get into groups more easily sometimes. But I would also focus most of your efforts on a main, just to get the ball rolling and some real progress.
hakiro09 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 Hi thanks for the reply Yes I tried elemental before mist of pandaria and I didn't like the mechanics much, I'm more convinced about making the warlock as my main and make the shaman as a healer, I'll have to find some guide on how to be a decent healer for later. I think you are right and I will concentrate on the warlock(demonology) for now, hopefully I'll have a lv 90 warlock in a week or so.I'll start by getting enough gear to get to the tier 14 raid as I really like the armor, and move on to tier 16 by getting some timeless isle and throne of thunder equipment.hopefully one month I should be item lv 520 or so. thanks
grumbachr 4 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 Warlocks are fun, Destruction is what I went with but would have to say Demonology is more fun, but for me I couldn't seem to get consistent DPS numbers with the Demon as I do with Destruction. As for changing your main, that gets more tricky in my opinion. I tried to change from a Ret Pally to a Lock but I seem to keep going back to the Pally. Where at this point I split my time about 50/50 between the two. I'm not sure if I go back for any other reason beside it just very comfortable and it was my first ever toon/class. If you're enjoying the lock stick with it, it is a very fun class nothing to complain about. I think the only time will tell if you like the Lock or not as once you hit 90 everything kind of changes. Leveling and Questing is one thing but so much changes wants you hit 90 and all you are doing is trying to get gear. My last comment will be, there are so many warlocks out there it hard to stand out.
Shine 144 Report post Posted June 11, 2014 Hi, My personal opinion is to just go with the lock, and try to get your shaman to heal. I feel I should tell you that I never liked either shaman or warlock myself so I don't really know much about them. If you do choose to go healing with your shaman, don't forget to check out our restoration guide. And if you're completely new to healing, it might be worth checking out our general healing guide aswell. If you are still stuck on things, the warlock forums and shaman forums here on Icy Veins are always very busy and there are alot of very experienced players here that aim to answer your questions every day. So don't be shy to ask any questions on these forums. And since this was your first post I will also say: Welcome to our ever growing community. Storm 426 Report post Posted June 11, 2014 It would depend on a few things. If you're pretty much always going to stay a solo player then I would lean towards the lock, because they are very easy to quest/farm/grind with. They're up there with Blood DK's and Paladins in the realm of classes that can solo almost anything including some level 90 raid bosses. If you think you may eventually want to try raiding though, even if it's just flex, then you have to ask yourself what you want to do in raids. Warlocks are pretty much the top dps right now, and I don't think there has ever been a point in wow's history that warlocks weren't a top 3 dps. However playing a warlock in end game means the only thing you can do is dps. playing the shaman would give you the flexibility of also building a healing set, which may make it easier to find groups, especially if you eventually build a decent set of gear for multiple specs on the shaman. Belicosa 11 Report post Posted June 18, 2014 Keep both as geared as possible so you will have an option depending on what is needed.
