Players Really Want Gnome Druids, and Came Up With Forms for Them

The race/class limitations are getting more and more annoying in WoW, and players are constantly asking for more options in that field. The latest "please let us have x race y class" pleas came from fk-geek, as their passion for gnome Druids got them to make some hypothetical Druid forms for the tiny ones and was one of the most upvoted reddit threads in quite a while. And while they're not quite the awesome unique art we're used to from some fan creations, they are pretty much on the nose. (Just click the below clip a few times if it doesn't autoplay.)

The only one I'd have to say I have an issue with is that flying form, as the Ardenmoth doesn't seem very gnomish, and looks more of a random addition in there, but that's just me. And here's another concept from a while ago, by Aryiana-dzyn:

Some concepts go all the way back to Cataclysm, as this one by Fortunia shows, but the added race/class variety is something that's been asked for since, well, Vanilla:

In any case it really might be time for Blizzard to relax the class restrictions on not just gnome Druids but a lot more, as they have been bending the restrictions for a long time now and, let's face it, the lore isn't in the best place right now so maybe bending it a little more for more gameplay options wouldn't be the worst move?

Wasn't there a guy that did Druid forms for literally every race (before we got Allied Races) ? I remember the Draenei forms looking pretty unique

Also, Worgen and Goblin monks. They're able to use the Monk animations and can be implemented

When they eventually make Gnome Druids a thing, and eventually they probably will, the cuteness is gonna crit Azeroth worse than Sargeras's sword.

kitten form should be one of the battle pets cat forms, with the ability to unlock more forms like Smoochums. same as bear cub form, but super special panda brewmaster cub

Easiest to implement is still the Pandaren.

Same stuff as is with Worgens - no matter what form it is, still looks like a wolf.

I, being a Gnome at heart and having a guild comprised of nothing but Gnomes on Teneras (I think that is spelled right), would like a Gnome druid. But this is sick. All those cutesy forms have got to go as it is time to be BIG.

What I want, is for my KT druid to not be so fat when I heal. (Give me Leonidas/skinny human KT druids blizz!)

I can only think of one reason not to do this, which is probably pvp. People would have a "hard" time seeing the small cats etc. running around - compared to their 'normal' counterparts. But I hope they let people do it anyway. Not that I need this, but it seems like many want it, and that sounds like reason enough.

Am I the only one screeching "Won't someone Pleeassse think of the Lore!?!"

Gnomes are about as far from nature as you can get.     I'm sure there's an oddball or two out there but a group of gnomish druids?    We're the ones always complaining about nonsensical plot stuff "We're so angry at Tyrande and Elune for not saving us from Sylvannas, that we'll join Sylvannas to take revenge!"

They may be far from nature, but they are equally as far from the Light.

I think the core of it is the same reason gnome priests exist - gnomes are curious and gifted in the matters of mind race, they may just view Light in a very practical way, and apply it in tandem with their usual know-how's (which, I guess, by extension applies to Goblin Shamans and their 'deals'). In the same vein, they may also look like that at druidism - think of something like a gnome going "huh, so I can regrow trees at will... infinite lumber!"

Considering what has been done to the lore recently, I think actual gameplay improvements and everyone being happy they can play whichever class with whichever race is a better use of lore-screwing than what we had throughout all of Shadowlands 😄

Shadowlands was fine if a little bland and predictable, until they reintroduced Sylvannas into the main story.    Suddenly we're watching her promised genius plan from 3 expansions ago turn into "this Jailer guy everyone else says is evil will surely keep his promises to me!".    Then "oh noes he was evil after all, I better...shoot an arrow at this giant with armor and the powerup of a god he just got...that'll show him!"

Well that's story-wise (and I somewhat agree), but in terms of lore they pulled the greatest retcon ever in WoW and for not particularly good reason since the Jailer, the supposed guy behind EEEEVERYTHING in WoW so far, is the blandest most boring character ever. So they sacrificed the entirety of their lore legacy for 1 expansion, might as well throw in the free class choice on top which is at least a good cause!

the "lore" was thrown out the window with the bath water and baby, a long time ago.  Goat people, mech gnomes, blood elves, and goblins all had a hand in this. 🤪

Most of those I'm fine with.

Whenever I hear the term "Space Goats" though, I hear the Futurama narrator in my head "Space Goats, from outterr spaacceeee!"

Oh I agree there, the Jailor is pretty...underwhelming.   And we're probably at only one more content patch remaining and still know very little about him, his plans and motivations, etc.    Just growly bad guy who had to collect the mcguffins.

Sire Denathrius (or Evil Fabio as I think of him) would have made for a far more fun final villain.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
