lawrence131 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2014 Quick question - if you single stack in the middle of the room for P1, do you skip the engineer's completely for this strat?
Hybrys 199 Report post Posted June 16, 2014 No, the iron stars overlap the middle by 30%+. If you're on a Flex or Normal it may be viable to kill both engineers, though.
lawrence131 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2014 thx for quick reply, for the single stack P1 method do you typically have 2 dps kill both engineers fast then join the stack point then? or is there any place you can stack that works with both engineers ignored? i'm only on normal, trying to tank it for the first time so pretty noob at this. most of the guides don't have much detail on the single stack. Gwenymph 414 Report post Posted June 16, 2014 Almost all stacked strats will have the stack point be slightly off centered so you only have to send one dps to kill one engineer. There is not a point that allows you to ignore them simultaneously.

We'll set our stack point just outside the large circle with the horseshoe, and kill the single engineer that would fire at us.
lawrence131 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2014 awesome, thanks! i'm a noob to PVE and just started tanking in full prideful in PUG's and through Oqueue. Most people kind of expect the tank to tell everyone what to do, but i'm one of the few people who just started SOO last couple weeks so it's brand new content to me. there's a lot of jargon that's not easy to pick up if your new to it like ping pong, single stack, etc., that i can't get all from guides. but i think i get the general ideal of all the encounters now with help through the forums and helpful players. i picked up 2 set prot war flex pieces last week and valor upgraded, got lucky with celestial legs, 2 flex trinkets, rest prideful and gear-wise it seems fine for the content once i learn all the strats. with some advice from here i went full avoidance reforge and gems for all the prideful pieces and surprisingly for just damage taken, i was fine through all of Flex and 12/14 normal. learned quite a bit doing LFR 1-14, flex 1-14, normal 1-12 all through several days back to back lol. gonna try my first normal garrosh tanking attempt tonight before reset with my new-found knowledge! Geoda 253 Report post Posted June 17, 2014 Don't be afraid to call for some tank CD's. Sometimes when those stacks get high Garry can hit like a truck.
AMonkeyCourier 2 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 (edited) He won't be calling for shit in random pugs, unfortunately. It doesn't quite work like that, at least in Europe. I also highly encourage refraining from using the stacking method unless people are overgeared for that tier by at least 10 item levels. I've been raid leading Garrosh pugs every week for a while now and it's amazing, just how many wipes it leads to. Take it back to its original purpose, a method of positioning that makes it easier for a solo tank to pick up adds in phase 1. If you're duo tanking it, just get the raid to ping pong and refuse to start until they acquiesce. Edited June 19, 2014 by AMonkeyCourier
