The new patch coming today is a big one, as it not only fixes many issues (like duping, Life Staff bugs, the Resilient perk, stacking damage buff for certain weapons and a lot more), but also brings some major changes like not being able to equip two of the same weapon, large discounts for stat and weapon mastery respecs, improvements aimed at reducing gold sellers and bots, and so much more.

New World Update: 1.0.5 will release at 7AM PT (2PM UTC) on November 4.

Greetings, Adventurers!

This week’s update introduces more general changes and bug fixes. We’d like to thank you for your patience as our team continues to work on resolving issues, and for your continued reports on our official forums. You can find a full list of changes and fixes below.

General

Coin Sellers

We know many of you have seen the pesky chat messages from players spamming messages, and we’re continuing to investigate solutions to this issue. We discovered that many coin sellers were creating new characters and transferring money to other accounts. To combat this, we’ve:

  • Banned and suspended many of the reported accounts. Thank you for your reports for players spamming chat.

  • Added restrictions to prevent player-to-player trading and currency transfer from characters under level 10, or whose account is less than 72 hours old. Logging in after your account is 72 hours old will enable your ability to trade and transfer currency once you’ve hit level 10.

  • Redistributed coin value from some early quests to later in the Main Story questline, keeping the total amounts of coin earned the same, just delivered in quests slightly later.

  • Trading Post usage will be restricted until new characters accept the “Introduction to Trading Post” quest in their first settlement.

We will monitor the impact this has on bots and the health of the game, and continue to adjust as necessary.

Exploits

  • Fixed a bug where players were able to duplicate items via storage sheds and crafting stations.

  • We fixed the issue of gold duplicating on territory projects we introduced by disabling trading and made sure it would not occur in the future should we need to disable trading again.

Combat

  • Life Staff: Orb of Protection

    • Removed the small area of effects (AoE) that were triggering on passthrough from every hit of the base version of Orb of protection.

    • AoE no longer triggers on passthrough from the Aegis upgrade, it will only trigger on impact against an enemy/object now.

  • Reduced attribute respec coin cost by 60%.

  • Reduced weapon mastery respec Azoth cost by 75%.

  • Reduced coin cost of chisels by 20-50% depending on tier.

  • To encourage competition in Outpost Rush, we've slightly reduced the Coin and Azoth rewards for the losing team.

  • We have surfaced the War conflict progress bars on the map and the Faction Board when there is an upcoming Invasion, as you can still gain War conflict for your Faction.

  • Identical Weapon Equipping: Players can no longer equip the same weapon type in both weapon slots. We want each weapon slot to have a different weapon type to open up combat diversity. This change also addresses issues which could occur when swapping between weapons of the same type.

  • Group Scaling Passives: Fixed issues which could cause passive effects that scaled on the number of nearby foes, such as Bloodlust (Great Axe), Against All Odds (Hatchet), and Outnumbered (Warhammer), to apply incorrectly.

  • Spell Strike Consistency: Fixed issues which caused several magic spells, such as Ice Storm and Gravity Well, to not hit consistently.

  • Resilient (Item Perk): Fixed an issue that caused this perk to reduce all damage instead of just damage from critical hits.

  • PvP Flagging: Fixed an issue that allowed PVP and PVE players to heal each other.

Outpost Rush

  • Fixed an issue that was allowing players to get out of the starting Fort before the match starts.

  • We now prevent multiple players from interacting with the Altar in Outpost Rush. This will prevent players from getting multiple summon tokens per 500 azoth.

  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the nameplates of summoned allies to appear hostile.

  • Fixed an issue that was causing Battle Bread (the food buff in Outpost Rush) to be twice as effective as intended.

  • Updated the tool tip for Battle Bread and Monster Slayer's Stew to properly describe the buffs they provide.

  • Fixed an issue that could cause players to become stuck in a teleport loop if they teleported out of Outpost Rush while using /unstuck.

General Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that prevented some people from joining Outpost Rush because they had a pending group invite.

  • Repair kits should no longer require Coin to use.

  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused players to use the wrong consumable when using consumables from the inventory screen.

  • Fixed various issues with Invasion status showing before the Invasion was declared.

  • Updated missing English text for on-login pop up explaining housing tax compensation.

  • Fixed an issue allowing magic weapons to animation cancel their primary attacks with weapon swap or targeting spells, causing rate of fire to be faster than intended.

  • Fixed an issue that caused Ice Gauntlet upgrade Pylon Dodge to only work immediately after you placed the Ice Pylon.

  • Fixed an issue that could cause a player to lose their house while offline during maintenance. In a future update, we will be reimbursing the players who encountered this issue. Exact details around the reimbursement will be in the corresponding update notes.

  • Fixed an issue with enemy AI duplicating and stacking spawns during the quest “Shivering Timbers”.

  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to initiate a server transfer if they were in the tutorial.

  • Fixed an issue causing the Trading Post to become unresponsive or delayed.

  • Improved server performance when a large number of players congregate in settlements.

  • Fixed an issue that caused some territory influence to not be properly recognized when lots of players turned in PvP missions simultaneously.

  • Fixed an issue causing some player titles to show as <uninitialized>.

  • Fixed an issue where players could become stuck while fishing with lag.

  • Fixed the UI notification for landing in a hot spot while fishing.

  • Fixed a localization issue where bonus crafting percentages for tools were displaying as 0% for non-English languages.

  • Fixed the time in Europe to properly account for the change from CEST to CET.

  • Fixed an issue preventing gear score to increase past 589 from drop rewards.

Speculative Fixes

The fixes listed below are tentative fixes and mitigations. Our goal is to get these changes out and see if issues persist, so we can continue to work on them and address in a future update if necessary.

  • Implemented a change to help us dig into the "timed out while waiting for server to describe world" issue, and added a fix to reduce occurrences of this issue while we continue to investigate.

Thanks for your support! We'll see you in Aeternum.

An all-new event is coming to New World: Aeternum - the Faction Fest! The Faction Fest is a weekend-long event from June 27 to June 29, where the Marauders, Syndicate, and Covenant will compete to finish the most daily objectives for exclusive rewards! Plus, the winning faction will actually influence the event narrative, making it a bit more of a unique event across each server!
      How does Faction Fest work?
As long as you are in a faction, you will be able to participate in this event (no sign-up required). Once you're within a specific faction, your progress will automatically count towards the total score for your faction. Below are some more details around the event, along with information on how you'll be able to score points for your faction:
Each day will feature a new daily objective tied to Expeditions. These objectives will be revealed starting on June 27 via the Faction Fest event page. Every time you complete an objective, your Faction’s score will increase. Objectives can be completed multiple times for additional points. After each day, all participants will earn Titles, such as Explorer and Scout. That day’s winning Faction will also be announced. An overall Faction Fest winner will be determined based on the total number of objective completions across all 3 days. There will be a Weapon Mastery XP bonus on day 3 for everyone to rally toward their final goals. All players will receive a complete armor set themed after the winning Faction. Unlocked rewards will be distributed to all participants in-game following the event. Additionally, there will be exclusive Twitch drops to support this event from June 27 - 30, allowing you to pick up the following rewards simply by watching some of your favorite streamers:
5x Vial of Suspended Azoth 25x Dark Matter 5x Gypsum Orbs 5x Powerful Honing Stone We wish each faction the best of luck - may the best faction win!

Learn more about the all-new, community-inspired 3v3 Arena map that's coming to New World: Aeternum.
Prepare yourselves to test out your PvP builds in the upcoming new 3v3 arena that's coming to New World: Aeternum. This new map will be the largest arena yet, and will be showcased in a limited-time preview weekend from June 17 to June 23, just ahead of its full integration into the game in Season 9.
The name of this new map will actually be determined by the community through a voting process, so be sure to visit the official New World Aeternum discord to learn more about how you can cast your vote.
Players are already getting excited to start testing out this new map, due to the following key characteristics it will include:
This map is nearly 50% larger than existing 3v3 arena maps, with more elevation, cover, obstacles, and flanking paths. The map favors ranges players early on, but forces players into melee engagements quickly as they venture deeper within it. There are multiple landmarks scattered throughout the map, including ancient statues, waterfalls, and weathered ruins (which adds to different tactical call-outs you can share with your group members mid-battle). To further support your participation in testing out this new map, there will be Twitch Drops dedicated to the preview weekend (June 17 - June 23).  This reward includes the Hearty Twitch Cache, which will be awarded after watching 6 cumulative hours on Twitch.
As you prepare to test your skills and abilities in this new map, consider checking out some of our many New World Aeternum PvP builds here to help you on the battlefield.
We look forward to seeing you on the battlefield!

Experience New World like never before - reach level 65 in just 2 hours, experiment with powerful artifacts, and dive into a fresh, competitive seasonal world content.
When New World initially launched in September 2021, it was a massive success, quickly climbing to over 900,00 concurrent players on Steam and becoming one of the most popular MMOs out there. Players from around the world were drawn in by the beautiful world of Aeternum, the action-based combat, the satisfying gathering and crafting system, and of course, the large-scale PvP.
However, those numbers quickly fell due to a handful of reasons, including in-game bugs and item duping, server stability issues, long queue times, imbalanced economy, and a few other reasons that left a bad taste in many players' mouths.
Since then, the team behind New World: Aeternum have made some major improvements, introducing some new weapons, a higher max gear score (725), new expeditions, new events, new raids, and much, much, more, making the game enjoyable for many of those that give it another chance.
If you've been away from New World for a while, or are curious about giving it another shot, then the Hardcore seasonal world is your golden opportunity. This fast-paced setting will allow you to hit max level (65) in just two hours (video below on how), allow you to equip any and every artifact you'd like to test it out, and allow you to try out some of the latest and greatest additions added to the game since its initial launch, including the new 10-man Hive of Gorgons raid and the 20-man Sandwurm raid.
Long story short, if you've ever thought "Maybe I should try New World again", this is your sign. The hardcore seasonal world is the perfect opportunity to take a closer look at what's changed since the initial launch of the game, without having to spend endless hours getting to the endgame content.
Please note: This seasonal world is a temporary world and will be deleted on July 8, 2025. However, it allows you to truly get a taste of what's new in the game, without requiring the massive grind.
If you enjoy what you see when you check it out, then you can start the official grind and get back to the Aeternum you once loved!

Discover everything you need to know about Hardcore New World, including faster leveling, unlimited artifacts, and exclusive rewards, all starting on June 3, 2025.
It's official - New World's hardcore seasonal world will begin on June 3, 2025, and last until July 8, 2025, giving players plenty of time to max out a character and challenge some of the most difficult raids within the game for exclusive rewards. This marks the second seasonal world for New World: Aeternum, where players will be able to explore Aeternum and play the game with a major twist - this time being hardcore.
If your character dies during this game mode, they will be forever labeled as "Fallen", limiting the number of exclusive rewards you can unlock with that specific character (more details below). Additionally, players will come across other major twists while playing in this seasonal world, including the removal of the main story quest (MSQ), and replacing it with a much shorter questline that allows you to hit max level after approximately 6 hours, as well as allowing players to use as many artifacts as possible, greatly increasing the overall power most players are used to.
All major changes to this new seasonal world can be found below:
No Main Questline - We’ve built a new, expedited questline to follow. This questline will give you all the experience needed for your character to reach maximum level in approximately 6 hours. It will also introduce you to the new mechanic we’re using for progressing your character on this server: Azerite Tailings. Azerite Tailings - Azerite Tailings are an item that can be dropped from multiple different locations in the world and can be used to craft new types of inventory caches for yourself. These caches will be much faster to use for gearing up your character on this server than standard loot drops. These caches can provide everything you need for your characters (such as consumables, gear, and even materials for selecting perks on artifacts.) Artifacts Unlimited - On this server, you are able to equip as many artifacts as you would like. We don’t know exactly how powerful these can become, but we want to allow you to experiment in some new ways and try some new gameplay combinations that even we haven’t seen before. War has its own unique status effect. This status effect will provide a higher potential stacking on attributes after death (as well as a damage bonus), but it also reduces your armor and absorptions while active (this is intended to help balance out some of the potential defensive power artifacts can provide). Since this is a time-limited server, territory control is not the primary focus, so we wanted to give people an opportunity to experience the mode in a different way. Honestly, we’re hoping you will all go out into the field and bonk each other over the head with foam bats and cardboard tubes for a weekend. Death Status Effects - A new status effect will be present on your character when created on this server for tracking your Unfallen or Fallen state. This is our attempt at a different kind of hardcore experience. Characters who have not died will be considered ‘Unfallen’ and characters who have died will be considered ‘Fallen.' Instead of a traditional hardcore model, where your character is simply deleted on death, this status effect will stack up, granting 25 bonus attributes per stack. However, some challenges can only be completed in an Unfallen state. Group up with others to tackle these objectives and remain Unfallen, but don’t be afraid to keep going if you do Fall, you’ll be getting stronger and stronger. Earnable Rewards - You will be able to earn new rewards for your character by completing challenges in the Season Journey on this server. These new earnable rewards are Raw Orichalcite Stone, which allows you to craft any artifact you want (out of all the artifacts you do not currently own), and Runewood Resin, which allows you to craft any T3 trophy you want. There will also be new cosmetics and titles to earn throughout this experience. These rewards will not be claimable on your seasonal character and must be claimed on one of your primary characters. Important extra note about the Hardcore server - As the focus of this server is push the limit of characters to the max, including using full sets of artifacts in endgame content such as the Gorgon raid, players will be required to have the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion to participate.
Additional information (along with tips to help you along the way) can be found within the video below.
We wish you luck on your future hardcore adventures throughout Aeternum!
