Ten Things to Do Before Endwalker Early Access

Recommended Posts

10b.jpg

We are now only three days away from the all worlds maintenance that will set up Endwalker's Early Access period! Do you feel prepared to continue your Eorzean adventure? If not, that's okay! We've compiled a list of ten suggestions that will help you prepare for the upcoming expansion.

1. Finish the Main Scenario Questline.

msq.jpg

The most important thing to do before any expansion is complete the Main Scenario Questline. If you have a similar notice on your UI, be sure to complete any remaining quests so you can start the Endwalker MSQ once Early Access launches.

2. Clean your inventory.

inventory.jpg

Perhaps the second most important thing to do before an expansion is clean your inventory. This includes cleaning your retainer inventories and chocobo saddlebag, too! If you're as unorganized as I am, this might take the most time out of all the items on this list...

3. Prepare for the mid-level EXP reset.

reset.jpg

To control the rising in-game values in FFXIV, Patch 6.0 will introduce downscaling measures that decrease values for player HP, damage dealt, recipe progress and quality, and EXP values. This process involves overwriting the player character database, causing any EXP accumulated between levels to be reset to zero.

In the next few days, be sure to check and see if you have any jobs close to reaching the next level. If so, it may be worthwhile to finish up that experience bar.

4. Prepare experience buffs.

expbuff.jpg

Experience buffs are extremely important during the expansion leveling process. Be sure to have a stack of food handy to continuously pop throughout your leveling experience, as using any type of food grants a +3% experience buff!

Additionally, the Heat of Battle Free Company action increases experience gained through combat by up to 15%. If you have yet to join a Free Company, consider finding one for your Endwalker experience - you will receive much-needed buffs and possibly make new friends!

If you don't wish to join a Free Company, Squadron Battle Manuals also give the same experience bonus as the Heat of Battle III buff (+15%). Squadron Battle Manuals last for two hours and do not stack with Free Company EXP buffs.

5. Prepare a Wondrous Tails journal.

wt.jpg

Wondrous Tails is an exceptional way to earn EXP, especially at the start of an expansion. In this weekly activity, players receive a journal full of duties from previous expansions or patches to complete for rewards, EXP, and currency.

If you pick up and complete a Wondrous Tails book today, you can wait until Friday to turn it in for that sweet EXP bonus. Then, you can pick up a second book to complete for your desired leveling job!

If you want to know more about this weekly EXP source, be sure to check out our dedicated Wondrous Tails guide.

6. Cap all currencies.

currency.jpg

With every new expansion, old currencies become obsolete, and new currencies are made available. Be sure to cap all currencies to ensure you have the most resources once the expansion drops!

7. Ready your belts for their demise.

belts.jpg

Once Patch 6.0 lands, belts can no longer be equipped by players. Although belt items can remain in the game, it's a good idea to retrieve materia from them before Early Access begins! That way, you can easily discard, conduct desynthesis, or sell them. All belts equipped by players and retainers will be sent to the Calamity Salvager NPC, where they can be retrieved at any time.

8. Use any Irregular Tomestones of Lore before the Moogle Treasure Trove event ends.

moogle.jpg

The Moogle Treasure Trove event ends as soon as the all worlds maintenance begins on Thursday. This event allows players the opportunity to get some of the games more exclusive mounts, including those from Extreme trials and Beast Tribes!

Even if you weren't actively running the event, you likely have a few of these tomestones stored in your inventory. I had 128 from just casually running content over the past two months. Because of this, I picked up a couple of mounts I didn't previously have, in addition to some ARR riding maps!

For information on this event and its possible rewards, visit our Moogle Treasure Trove guide!

9. Take care of yourself.

One of the biggest mistakes players can make during a new expansion is prioritizing the game over their health. Before Friday, be sure to stock up on healthy snacks and have a plan to stay hydrated and rested throughout your game time.

If you plan on logging in as soon as the servers go up, please get a sufficient amount of sleep before you begin your Endwalker journey. Remember that there is no rush to cap your level or complete the main story - we have years to enjoy this content, so please healthily indulge in it however you can!

10. Say goodbye to Shadowbringers.

baaii.jpg

Shadowbringers was an amazing time for our beloved MMO. We received a variety of new content, and 5.0's story was praised for being Final Fantasy XIV's most ambitious and compelling yet. Additionally, just this year, we saw an unprecedented number of players begin their adventure in Eorzea.

Whether your favorite content was the Eden raid series, Delubrum Reginae, or the iconic NieR Alliance raids, you can't deny that there was something for everyone in this expansion. Take the next few days to run your favorite Shadowbringers content while you prepare for a new adventure!

If you're looking for more information on how to prepare for Endwalker, you can also check out MrHappy's video over on the Icy Veins FFXIV YouTube channel. Best of luck to all those leveling in the new expansion - we can't wait to see you on the moon!

Final Fantasy XIV is experiencing a large player drop since 7.0 and 7.1, soon hitting under 1 million active players!
Dawntrail has received mixed reviews, and the game has not been doing so good since the release of patch 7.0. Despite new content such as the World of Darkness Chaotic Raid or the latest Alliance Raid, which both received good feedback, it seems that the majority of players have nothing to do in the game right now.
The latest data report published on December 29, 2024, by Lucky Bancho, provides an analysis of player activity in Final Fantasy XIV following the release of Patch 7.1. The report indicates a decline in active characters:
The number of active players decreased by 120,000, going from 1.15 million to approximately 1.03 million New character creation has slowed, with about 47,000 new characters, down from 54,000 in the previous period The number of players still active since the previous update is around 830,000, a decrease of 170,000 The number of returning players who were previously inactive but have now become active is approximately 120,000, an increase of 20,000 The number of active players right now is close to falling below 1 Million. This means it will soon be lower than before Shadowbringer's peak number of players.
The report suggests that the overall decline in active characters may be attributed to various factors, including player engagement with new content, community dynamics, and broader gaming trends. It emphasizes the importance of entertaining story and content to attract and retain players.
      The main issues being:
Dawntrail's story did not attract the majority of players. Many felt bored and stopped playing right after they were done with MSQ The lack of content. While Savage, Chaotic, and Ultimate came out after 7.1, it is not content you will eternally grind once you completed it a couple of times Party Finder. With the possibility to jump servers, and being forced to use party finder for raiding, a lot of players end up in empty servers with no possibility to jump to "raiding servers" because they end up already full. Players end up giving up and stop playing until the next patch releases Lack of casual content: nothing has been released that will allow you to grind casually every day for rewards, mounts, glam, or anything else. Even events only take a few minutes to complete, there is nothing that keeps players entertained right now A lot of other reasons can be found for the massive drop in players right now. While it is always expected in MMO games, it is still concerning considered previews expansions never saw such a decrease in active players in FFXIV. We can only hope that Square Enix will take it into account to change things for the future!
For a the complete analysis, you can refer to the original report by Lucky Bancho.
