Patch 6.0 Brought Numerous Quality of Life Changes to FFXIV

Recommended Posts

Quality of life changes are perhaps some of the most overlooked updates that arrive during a new MMO expansion. In this post, we're taking a look at a few of the quality of life changes that Patch 6.0 brought to FFXIV, including new ground targeting and teleport settings!

New Ground Targeting Settings

First, Endwalker introduced new ground targeting settings, which allow players to place abilities like Asylum and Earthly Star more easily than before.

Checking the first box under the ground targeting settings section limits an ability's ground marker to as far as its range. After checking the second box, players can double click ground abilities to easily place them wherever their cursor is located.

New Teleport and Travel Settings

Endwalker also introduced new teleport settings, including an option that allows players to default to using an Aetheryte Ticket if a teleport fee is above a specified limit.

For example, if you don't want to spend over 1,000 gil to teleport, you can specify 1,000 gil as your allowance. If you have Aetheryte Tickets in your inventory, they will only be used on teleport fees that cost the specified amount or higher.

Aetheryte Tickets provide players with one free teleport to a place of their choosing! If you'd like to stock up on Aetheryte Tickets and make use of this new feature, you can purchase these tokens with Allied Seals from the various Hunt Billmasters in game. You can also trade in Gold Chocobo Feathers from the Recruit a Friend system for Aetheryte Tickets!

Additionally, a new menu will pop up when traveling via aetheryte crystals in any major city! You can find a preview of what this looks like in game from the screenshot below.

Once you click on a specific crystal, a small circle will highlight where the aetheryte is located on the map. You must click the desired location once more to be teleported to the aetheryte crystal.

Although these changes aren't necessarily groundbreaking, they will certainly make our lives a lot easier while playing through the new expansion!

On the aethernet change... you can also just click on the aetheryte shard on the map once, instead of the name of it on the list twice.

We have updated our comprehensive melding guides for patch 7.1! Here is everything you need to know!
For all the crafters and gatherers out there, our Final Fantasy XIV writer Shikhu has updated his two extensive guides for Crafting and Gathering Endgame Melding.
Crafting DoH Endgame Melding BIS Patch 7.1
This guide will go over the best crafting meld sets, explaining the best-in-slot (BiS). You will find 3 different main meldsets possible for 7.1, depending on your budget, time, and crafting goals.
The High Tier Set will be the best set that offers the most value for your gear, allowing you to use less HQ materials and more efficient rotations. The accessories will also last you until patch 7.3. You will be able to craft the latest Savage Raid gear with this set.
The Mid-Tier Meld set is a more cost efficient set that will still enable you to craft Savage Raid gear.
The Budget Meld set is more for players looking for a cheap budget set, but if you want to be ready for patch 7.2's raid crafts, then it is more recommended to go for the Mid Tier Set at least.
Gathering DoL Endgame Melding BIS Patch 7.1
This guide will go over how to gear your classes so you can gather from endgame legendary nodes.
Here again, three different Meld sets are available, depending on your budget, time and goals.
The High tier meld set is your Best-in-slot set which will last until 7.3 (with some adjustments for the future Cosmic Exploration if there is needed).
The Mid Tier set offers you easier melding but your Gatherers will have less yields.
The Budget set is simply to help you reach the minimum Perception needed to be able to gather everything in the game. This one will most likely be upgraded to script gear in patch 7.2.
Both guides are packed with detailed informations, easy-to-follow instructions, and tips from a seasoned player, making them extremely useful resources for both veteran Crafters and Gatherers, and players who want to start getting into the professions.
