What Would Bring You Back to the Game?

Recommended Posts

My take on it:

Get back to the older system of a lot of things. There are many pve players, and there are many pvp players. Give back pure pvp gear, that is of no use in raids, and pve gear that is lackbuster in pvp. There's no reason the gear should be the same/more or less the same.

Make use of the attunement sytem from before. At max level, we do dungeons to gear up for heroic. We now go hc and gear for Mythic. When you hit a certain ilvl, you open up a questchain to unlock the the raids.

Remove the grind for legendaries. Back in the day one could see on the gear of the player that they have done the raids ( but let those who want transmog it if they want.

Instead of having to grind for the BIS, give back the reforge system. Let us be able to reforge and alter stats on the gear we have, to better be able to output and perform the best we can with the gear we have.

It's not a problem to have dailies/chores .. but let this be for cosmetics, mounts, pets, toys and more. Don't make chores revolve around the NEED just to get upgrades.

Give back each profession its high-end personal gear, to make that profession desirable ( except gathering profs ). Leatherworkers makes their special belt, enchanters can have a head enchant, scribes make their shoulder enchant, blacksmith a special weapon and so on...

Give players the option to opt in to an “old content as current”, so we can opt in to do dungeons/raids and such from older worlds, and keep the gear at current ilvl ( this can work side by side with the attunement system, as that revolve around a set ilvl to progress )

People need to understand that not everyone is a winner. There will be hardcore players, there will be casual players.

Me, as a casual player, still remember with delight back in the old days when I saw a player in top tier gear walking in the city and thinking “wow, this one actually raided that raid and got the gear to show for it”. Personally I wouldn't be able to get that best gear cause I'm to casual, but … I don't care. I'm not hardcore, I shouldn't be awarded with the same gear as those working hard for it.

On this note, give back the class tier sets ( but let it drop as personal drop, not raid wise with DKP and more drama )

The way flying was done in SL was ok. Following the story mode unlocked it. Not months of grinding rep like before.

Give rep grinding a bonus. Grinding exalted with certain factions gives better prices at vendors, and give more gold for sold stuff there, instead of a fixed price for the items you sell to clean your bags.

This will give a reason for grinding that rep. ( we have better prices for learning the different riding skills the higher the rep is with the city you purchase it in, evolve on this ).

Stop catering to all the casual plebs ( like me ) and give the best to those who actually work for it. I know this will create a certain set of guilds that will not take players in unless they are this and that good, but it's ok. This is guilds who are looking to progress hard. My guild was casual/semi hardcore .. and we were doing fine, until the lack of players on the server. None of us was in the mindset of having the need of the best gear available, but rather having fun doing things together.

To the other side of things:

To combat the low pop, uneven faction servers, opt in for bigger cross server for lowpop factions. This will combat the problem with either Alliance is to big on these servers, so Horde will have a hard time making guilds, or pvp, or the other way around. This will prevent problematic servers that have player issues, and also help economy on said servers.

After playing on Alliance side on Nagrand, then switching to Tarren Mills on Horde side, and seeing the difference on auction house items, it's clear something needs to be done.

I am one of those who can not seem to be able to get gold ( I can't AH good, I'm unlucky with drops, I'm to casual to have the urge to do 60 hour grind for a special thing ), so getting a special item on Nagrand was just a no-go .. paying 500.000 gold for a legendary, whereas the same item on Tarren Mill cost 100.000 gold make no sense. If the underdog faction is crossrealmed to become bigger, the economy will settle better.

Make expansion story line delve into the older content. Do storylines that actually take the player to other maps and sort things out there. It will blow more life into the older worlds. Since mobs and all scales, it's not a problem to have max level characters quest in the Barrens, looking for a lost expedition while lowbies are question there. It's kinda cool to see maxlevels running around side by side, but not oneshotting everything just because they are so overpowered.

Make the quests a bit more dynamic. You are looking for a lost expedition group, but instead of them laying dead on the same spot, they should be lost/died at anywhere within a set area. This will make the search a bit more immersive, and you have the risk of fighting a lot more due to searching around to find them.

This is just some of the things I would love to see. It's probably not to many that would like this, but hey .. it's a personal view on how to make a better expac in my head :D

A lot of great suggestions in this thread...

My big idea would be to add world quests to every zone/quest hub, and with the scaling tech ingame they would be optional side quests you could do while leveling or something to do if you're bored of grinding in the endgame zone(s). Rewards could be things that are meaningful at your level... maybe an xp buff, gear, currency...maybe a unique world quest currency with vendors in the capitals selling tmog sets, mounts, pets etc...

Basically dont hold back, get creative and see how far this system can go!!

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
