Sigmatism 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2014 The title may sound like I'm being a dick, but I'm just as every other raid leader wanting his raiders to be successful. He's been trying to find out what he's doing wrong. http://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/3PFv7rBDGxYtc4TL These are the logs from tonight. I've looked them over and I've noticed his SnD uptime is really poor on most of the fights, which I know contributes to a huge part of his DPS. I'm not the best at reading logs intensively so I'm coming to the best to see if they can find anything I cannot. http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/malganis/Helitor/advanced This is his armory as well. I don't know what to do, and I need some more people to help me. Thanks -Sigma
Hybrys 199 Report post Posted July 13, 2014 Uhhh, that log shows as Jan 4th. Would you happen to have anything more recent, especially Sha of Pride, Iron Juggernaut, or Malkorok?
Sigmatism 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2014 I accidentally forgot to clear my old log. The Siegecrafter-Garrosh is the kills for 7/12/
Hybrys 199 Report post Posted July 13, 2014 I accidentally forgot to clear my old log. The Siegecrafter-Garrosh is the kills for 7/12/14 I mean, the log literally doesn't work. It shows as empty, because the time stamps are all funky. Would you happen to have any other logs, especially Sha of Pride, Iron Juggernaut, or Malkorok? Sigmatism 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2014 http://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/m4fj7rQqZPgNvMd8#fight=2 Sorry about the wait. I ran a full normal run of logs for this. Hope it helps. -Sigma
TIme987 3 Report post Posted July 17, 2014 ok part of his issies are his stats. his haste and mastory are = haste should be higher then mastory. you could even say it haste>mastory>crit. with crit being close to mastory. his crit is way low. ok dont really have a lot of time to dig in to the logs. but his uptime on Poison is low he is at 70 ish % it should be closer to 95% that the only thing i can see just off hand but i will dig deeper soon
Hybrys 199 Report post Posted July 17, 2014 Yeah, I'll make some time to dig into this tomorrow morning as well.
Hybrys 199 Report post Posted July 17, 2014 Alright lets dig in. One of the best fights to look at for uptimes is Malkorok, as usually melee can sit on the boss without restraint. We'll restrict our timeline to before they died. http://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/m4fj7rQqZPgNvMd8#fight=38&type=damage-done&source=13&start=152197415&end=152363250 First things I see are good poison uptimes, good SnD uptime, and good Revealing Strike uptime. These are actually pretty good, so we have a good base to work off of. They're not a bad player, by these measures. I think it boils down to uneven cooldown usage. They should be using Killing Spree (KS) on the pull, and then Adrenaline Rush (AR) and together Shadow Blades (SB) afterwards. This is because of Restless Blades, where AR and SB combined give you a lot of combo points and the ability to spend them. This can nearly reset KS on it's own, especially when combined with Bloodlust, so you gain a whole extra one which is huge They also spend a fair bit of time with KS on cooldown, without using it. This can be because of fight mechanics, but it seems like too long of a delay. One of the things I think they're doing erroneously is holding KS for Deep Insight, which is usually right IF you can get to Deep Insight before you have to next spend Combo Points. So if you're in Green w/ 8 combo points, you're better off getting to low energy and just spending KS, then putting those combo points into resetting it. If they were more aggressively using KS, and resetting it properly w/ AR/SB, they'd see a MINIMUM 20% increase to their DPS. I'd also suggest that they drop Rupture from their rotation altogether. It's a 1-2% DPS increase, and they should be working on their CDs before minmaxing to that extent. Once they get more comfortable using their CDs more aggressively, then they can work that back into their rotation. Gearing: They're actually doing pretty well in this department. They definitely need to get Expertise capped, at 7.5% though. There's also a few small nuances that they aren't following. For example, the shoulders. While you should now follow socket bonuses, that is only when you can use both stats off the gems. For a rogue, that means only if you can use the Hit on an Agi/Hit gem. By using Agi/Stam gems, he gains 160 + 120 Agi, instead of just gemming Reds for 160 + 160 Agi, or gemming Oranges for 160 Agi + 320 Haste. By all means, if he can use the Hit and reforge it away elsewhere, he should definitely change those two gems to Agi/Hit for the best benefit. I would suggest they follow this AMR build. Just give them the link and hit Optimize. You'll notice that it goes a little bit over the hit cap, but hit past the cap still has value. It's value is just very low. Still higher than Stamina, which gives nothing for DPS. http://www.askmrrobot.com/wow/gear/12a0608e-d75d-4991-99cb-9bd0a7b78fd3
WaveFunctionP 3 Report post Posted July 17, 2014 (edited) He looks fine. He's your best melee dps, and one of the best of your raiders as best I can tell. Looking through the fights, he routinely beats equally geared players. The times he doesn't, it is either heavily ranged biased or requires a lot of target switching (and lost combo points, which means lost cooldowns for combat). The three players that routinely beat him are all ranged (there's a bias to range) and very strong specs in general right now. Not to mention the small fact that he has between an 8 to 24 ilvl disadvantage to the players who beat them. He also takes less damage than the majority of your raid despite being melee. His rotation shows a firm grasp on fundamentals, and even a level of mastery. He could stand to use KSp at the start of the fight before popping ar/sb, though thats a rather minor gripe. And he needs to cap expertise. The fact he can do as well without, it another testament. Though it could be simply that he just got an upgrade and hasn't optimized before the next raid. It happens. He should use hit/haste for the blue gems, not hit/sta. Probably bought the wrong thing. It happens. This guy does the rogue class proud. And you should be proud of him as well. Not slandering him on the forums. Edited July 17, 2014 by WaveFunctionP
Sigmatism 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2014 I do apologize for "firing shots" at him. I now understand after more experts have delved into his logs, I see what was holding him back. I thank you for the time and effort you put in to help him improve as a player. It really does make me feel proud that we have people willing to help here. Thank you -Sigmatism
