What to Do Before Patch 9.2 Goes Live

Recommended Posts

4NpJjbc.png

Patch 9.2 is hitting live servers next week, so we compiled a list of things to do before the update goes live.

1. Farm Torghast

In Patch 9.2, the Unity Legendary Power unlocks at Revered with the Enlightened. To craft and upgrade the new Legendary item, you will need Soul Ash and Soul Cinders, so it's not a bad idea to farm Torghast now to get the currencies ahead of time. In Patch 9.2, you can send Soul Cinders to alts, so you won't end up farming Torghast that much...

Note that the Unity belt has Item Level 265 and cannot be upgraded, which means you must craft and upgrade a completely new Legendary item. A brand new Rank 7 Legendary with that power has item level 291.

2. Inspect Your Legendaries

Your currently-equipped Legendary may be the Covenant Legendary Power, which is the same one we're getting in 9.2, so it might be a good idea to inspect if you'll need to recraft a new Legendary item. It's better to do it now than to rush when the update hits live servers.

3. Learn and Upgrade Your Conduits to Item Level 200

You can buy Incense of Infinity Incense of Infinity from Au'Dara <Heirloom Broker> in Oribos near the Flight Master for 500 Gold. The item teaches you all Conduits and raises their item level to 200. You must reach Renown 80 on one of your characters to be able to buy it.

4. Keystone Master Rewards Are Going Away

Shadowlands Season 2 ends with the release of Patch 9.2 and with it the Keystone Master reward Soultwisted Deathwalker Soultwisted Deathwalker can no longer be obtained.

4. Spend Your Conquest!

Now's a good time to get rid of Conquest Points, as they will be converted to gold when the new Season starts.

5. Farm Honor

Honor will not reset so now's a good time to cap it so that you can buy new PvP gear when Season 3 starts.

6. Ahead of the Curve / Cutting Edge Sylvanas Windrunner Raid Achievements

The achievements will be removed on March 1, 2022, so you have two weeks from now to beat Sylvanas on Heroic or Mythic difficulty before the Sepulcher opens. You can find more information here.

The following post is based on MrGM's video that you can watch below.

I currently have the legendary belt.  What do I need to do?  This is so dang confusing for me.

Its possible to wear 2 legendaries a few weeks into 9.2

You will get a belt with the covenant specific legendary on it (the covenant powers were introduced in 9.1 at 44 renown) so you want to craft your best other legendary in a different slot.

The belt you recieve will change depending on what covenant you choose, so if you are nightfae it will have the nightfae specific legendary, venthyr the venthyr specific one and so on. If you swap covenant, the belt changes.

Let's be thorough.

Once chapter 7 of Zereth Mortis is unlocked (5th week from the patch's release), you'll get that belt mentioned above with Unity power (power: can be equipped with any other legendary, switches effect based on the current covenant) for completing it.

AND, if you happen to be Revered with the Enlightened at this point, you can also buy the Memory of Unity (functions exactly like any other Runecarver memory upon learning, i.e. account unlock) - which allows you to craft a new legendary with Unity in any gear slot you want in the same manner you craft legendaries now, and upgrade it to 291 like you would a ny other legendary.

So, if your BIS legendary happens to be a belt (say, Brewmaster), and it is not covenant-specific - best thing to do is to buy a 262 non-belt base item now that they are still cheap, and turn it into Unity right away, so you'll have both legendary effects (ilvl is irrelevant for the effects themselves), and then upgrade them to 291 overtime.

If it is covenant-specific and a belt now (like Boomkin) - look up which legendary pairs with it best in 9.2 and craft that one now. And when Unity is avaliable, you can either use the belt provided by campaign, or craft a 262 Unity like in the scenario above - waist slot or otherwise. Given the provided belt is non-upgradable and lacks a socket, I'd still go with crafting 262 Unity, if you can afford an extra base item now.

I'm still not really getting it.  This is one of the most irritatingly confusing things.  Maybe I'm just not asking the right questions.  I only know that I have a legendary belt right now, and I have it maxed out, and it was incredibly, incredibly expensive to do this.  And supposedly this new legendary we'll get will be a belt.  So... I'm just *filtered*?  I don't understand.  All that gold, all that farming torghast, all that time to make my current legendary is just wasted now?  I don't get it.  I don't understand exactly what I'm supposed to do.  I feel like my stomach's in a knot.  Why the hell was making a belt leggo even an option if all of my work is going to be nothing.  I don't understand any of this *filtered*.

Let's try a simpler route then. If you parting ways with your current legendary is absolutely not an option for you, then farm the new rep, buy the memory of unity and craft your second legendary on any armour piece you like.

What about valor? Guess that's gonna be reset again?

Yes, you should buy crafting mats or gear for alts if you want to get the most out of it. More information can be found here.

- This is completely wrong. You can get the achievement and mount before Season 3 starts.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
