FFXIV House Owners: Auto-Demolition Will Resume Soon

Recommended Posts

For owners of any Small, Medium, or Large plots in the player housing areas, Square Enix has announced a date to resume the Automatic Demolition system now that queue times have decreased significantly. Apartment owners are still safe!

If you or your Free Company own a house in FFXIV, you may have experienced a little stress making sure you keep the house from falling into someone else's hands. Player housing is wildly popular in FFXIV, with entire communities and content creators growing around housing and all the different things you can do to decorate. As such, finding a house to buy is both expensive and tedious.

Since housing is in such high demand, the Automatic Demolition system was set in place: After 45 days of not using your house, it will be removed and put up for sale. Square Enix briefly suspended this system due to the massive queue times players were experiencing during the launch of Endwalker, but it will now be reinstated.

To refresh the 45-day timer on your house, simply log into the game and walk inside the front door! Free Company-owned houses are refreshed upon anyone in the Free Company entering the house, making it much easier to retain. Apartments, however, remain separate from the Automatic Demolition system and remain permanent locales for players.

The Automatic Demolition system will resume on March 9th. For players who have entered their house during the suspension period, the timer will reset. For players who have not entered their house during this time, the timer will pick up where it left off as of December 5th last year, and continue counting down from there.

The automatic demolition of estates was suspended in December 2021 due to the ongoing congestion situation following the release of Endwalker. However, after careful consideration, we have decided to resume automatic demolition on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 around 12:00 a.m. (PST).

Automatic Demolition Counter and Current Estate Owners

The counter for automatic demolition may be reset for certain estates depending on the usage of housing during the period when estate demolition was suspended. If an estate hasn’t been built on the plot, the counter may be reset upon entering the estate once it has been built.

  • For players who have entered their estate at least once during the suspension period

The auto-demolition timer will be reset for free company estates that have been entered by a leader or member at least once, and private estates that have been entered by the owner at least once.

The count for days of inactivity for the aforementioned estates will begin again on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 around 12:00 a.m. (PST).

  • For players who have not entered their estate during the suspension period:

The automatic demolition timer will resume from the time that was remaining as of Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 10:45 p.m. (PST).

An e-mail notification will be delivered to the e-mail address registered to the Square Enix accounts of those players whose estates will be prepared for automatic demolition within ten days from when the timer resumes. We strongly suggest those players log in and enter their estate before the automatic demolition timer is resumed on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 around 12:00 a.m. (PST).

    * The e-mail notification will be delivered to the registered e-mail addresses of all free company estate owners and their free company members, as well as private estate owners.

Confirming Time Until Auto-Demolition

For players who have not entered their estates for at least thirty days, the status under the Estate tab of the Timers window will indicate the estate is being prepared for auto-demolition and denote the number of days remaining. This status will no longer be displayed upon entering the estate.

* Please be advised that this window will only display the number of days until the automatic demolition takes place and not the exact time. We strongly urge you to enter your estate well before the scheduled date for the automatic demolition.

Final Fantasy XIV is experiencing a large player drop since 7.0 and 7.1, soon hitting under 1 million active players!
Dawntrail has received mixed reviews, and the game has not been doing so good since the release of patch 7.0. Despite new content such as the World of Darkness Chaotic Raid or the latest Alliance Raid, which both received good feedback, it seems that the majority of players have nothing to do in the game right now.
The latest data report published on December 29, 2024, by Lucky Bancho, provides an analysis of player activity in Final Fantasy XIV following the release of Patch 7.1. The report indicates a decline in active characters:
The number of active players decreased by 120,000, going from 1.15 million to approximately 1.03 million New character creation has slowed, with about 47,000 new characters, down from 54,000 in the previous period The number of players still active since the previous update is around 830,000, a decrease of 170,000 The number of returning players who were previously inactive but have now become active is approximately 120,000, an increase of 20,000 The number of active players right now is close to falling below 1 Million. This means it will soon be lower than before Shadowbringer's peak number of players.
The report suggests that the overall decline in active characters may be attributed to various factors, including player engagement with new content, community dynamics, and broader gaming trends. It emphasizes the importance of entertaining story and content to attract and retain players.
      The main issues being:
Dawntrail's story did not attract the majority of players. Many felt bored and stopped playing right after they were done with MSQ The lack of content. While Savage, Chaotic, and Ultimate came out after 7.1, it is not content you will eternally grind once you completed it a couple of times Party Finder. With the possibility to jump servers, and being forced to use party finder for raiding, a lot of players end up in empty servers with no possibility to jump to "raiding servers" because they end up already full. Players end up giving up and stop playing until the next patch releases Lack of casual content: nothing has been released that will allow you to grind casually every day for rewards, mounts, glam, or anything else. Even events only take a few minutes to complete, there is nothing that keeps players entertained right now A lot of other reasons can be found for the massive drop in players right now. While it is always expected in MMO games, it is still concerning considered previews expansions never saw such a decrease in active players in FFXIV. We can only hope that Square Enix will take it into account to change things for the future!
For a the complete analysis, you can refer to the original report by Lucky Bancho.
