Sepulcher of the First Ones Mythic RWF Summary, Day 5: Groundhog Day

So, remember when I said yesterday was Halondrus day? Yea, about that...

In the definitely most uneventful day of the race (at least at the very top), even including the non-racing Normal and Heroic splits first day, we had a WHOLE lot of Halondrus progress on day 5 of the race. The end result? 15%. No, he's not at 15%, the guilds just managed to get him down another 15% from yesterday, with the current best coming in at 26.44, a mere 262 pulls in (only two more pulls and that would have been quite the coincidence)! So we've gone well beyond Painsmith levels here (who came in at 107) and are slowly moving towards Fallen Avatar levels of 400+ pulls, but that would be crazy... right?

The day started with plenty of Echo progress, and in the evening we had a nerf on the boss, but even that wasn't quite enough to get it down, with a 10% health reduction, Planet Cracker spawn locations  no longer being variable and Crushing Prism being less likely to target ranged players. The pulls did improve after that, but we are still not seeing any long stretches in phase 3, as both guilds have made it into the phase, but died pretty soon after. Let's take a look at the current best pull from Liquid:

And here's Echo's best:

Of course it's not all just about the most recent boss and the top two guilds in the Race to World First, and that's a fact that's been shown very clearly in this raid, as we actually have 7 guilds progressing on Halondrus. SK Pieces have been up there since yesterday and gotten the boss down to 63%, with BDGG joining them on 6/11 and 57% on the boss. Method also hopped on the Halondrus train after their Lihuvim kill... Speaking of which: remember that 0.02% wipe from yesterday? Well they had another close encounter just before actually killing the boss:

Method only had around 35 pulls on Halondrus, ending on 69%, while Skyline and Aster also cleared up to the giant crab in a very impressive display, and while Skyline also got him down to 69%, Aster only got a few pulls on him before calling it a day.

To stay on Halondrus just a bit longer, here's a look into what it can look like in the fight, coming from two very different perspectives:

And then there's... this:

In closing, today brings quite a few questions. Is there another, bigger nerf coming to Halondrus? Can the following bosses even live up this, both in terms of difficulty and pull count? Does anyone even WANT them to be as hard or harder (yes, I do, if no one else)? Is this really just a miscalculation on Blizzard's part or is this level of difficulty intended? Will we even see the Jailer Mythic this week (no)?

While the Sepulcher may be slow-playing us, it is definitely a VERY different experience, both for the raiders and us viewers, and I for one really like it. With the guilds not having seen the final three bosses on Mythic at all ever, and Anduin still standing in the way (not to mention the small matter of 26% left of the giant crab), this one truly may see the third week - which is where we might get into some serious trouble. The third week of Mythic will see double legendaries come in, and if the guilds are close to downing the Jailer before then, it may be a matter of US reset first, get the legendaries and Jailer just dies, since they're a huge 15%ish buff to everyone (depending on raid comp). However, if the Jailer is tuned with double legendaries in mind, then it's all good and we'll see some progression in week 3 as well. And if Halondrus wasn't just an extreme case of overtuning, that may be exactly what we're seeing here. If the intention is week 3 Jailer progression, why not slow things down before that and give the top guilds other bosses to properly progress on and not just be stuck on the Jailer for 10+ days?

In any case we'll see what happens today, as we will most likely be seeing some form of nerf, since without one we may be having a few more Halondrus days ahead of us! As usual you can check out Raider.IO's live coverage for a lot more details, clips, and everything related to the RWF.

Help me understand something.

Why are they already nerfing the boss and saying it may be overtuned ?

Guild ilvl aren't even on heroic ilvl of the raid so its completely normal that its's just difficult to down a mythic boss.

This is true for most guilds, but the world first guilds put insane amounts of effort, boe epics and split raids, far above the rest. They're also probably the best or close to best raiders in term of personal skill, and get crap ton of support from community and sponsoring.

If they're having this much trouble, "average"  mythic guilds might find it unfeasible to defeat this boss before the next expansion breaks, which is rarely the design goal.

Of course, blizz often nerfs bosses a fair bit over the months of a given tier, but 300 pulls for the top guild is excessive even for that.

Is it good or bad when it comes down to it? I donnu. For viewers it might be more interesting, but for actual raiders it feels a bit weird to face completely nerfed bosses after top guilds faced something much harder.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
