Destruction Haste Soft Cap

I know this has been touched on several times and the spreadsheet Zagam made in the destruction guide is extremely useful, but I feel the need to bring this up again.  I was fortunate to land several pieces of loot last night (576 ilevel now) and I'm trying to reforge optimally so I can swap destro & afflic encounter to encounter.

 

I was looking at the 35% haste soft cap for destro but also trying to make it to one of afflic's breakpoints (13737 haste).  

 

I'm curious what people are doing that play both specs in raids and don't want to waste gold reforging.

 

 

I'm mostly likely going to shoot for maximizing mastery then going haste till 45% (don't want to cap immolate).

 

I'm also using BBOY and I feel the extra haste helps me get 3 CBs off during procs.

13737 haste for me as aff/destro and I try to make sure I don't go much higher as diminishing returns with haste start to be a factor with certain procs and incinerate (will begin to be less than a global in certain circumstances).

 

Your current haste is too high and it seems you could reforge more haste into mastery in order to make sure that you are close to the cap, but I'd say if you're in progression you should never sacrifice any mastery into haste if you need to for the cap; the progression fights should be played as destro this tier for most players.

I sit at 10.2k Haste which puts me at 35% crit with raid buffs.  I've found this to be my 'sweet spot' that allows me to do the best sustained DPS I've ever done. 

 

As always, stats are going to be relatively playstyle oriented, not performance oriented.  The performance comes from your playstyle and adaptation to combat.

I don't play Affliction.  If I did, I wouldn't take much more Haste.  I'd just undo my reforges to Crit from Haste.
