Lollerblazed 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) Hi! I'm really looking to increase my DPS beyond what I can currently pull with Arms. I have a good understanding of the playstyle but I feel like I lose my grip on things later on in an AOE fight. I feel like I keep questioning whether to save up my recklessness or just blow it immediately when it comes off CD, and I'm not as good as gauging how long the fight will last. Here's my log for a flex 1 I just did and it would be great if I can get some feedback on Fallen Protectors and Sha of Pride for AOE and Single-target fights respectively. I will post another flex 3 after I do one but these are the only logs I have now Thanks so much! I'm kinda new to posting my logs up for review so I hope my samples are fine :) Edited August 1, 2014 by Lollerblazed
Lollerblazed 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2014 (edited) I have included a log of my most recent logs, I definitely messed up during the nazgrim fight big time and would love to have feedback on that sort of semi-AoE fight. Iron Juggernaught could have been a bit smoother because not many people were willing to jump on the bombs. Aside from those two, I feel the other two were fine except during Dark Shamans I pressed the wrong hotkey and taunted off the tank (leading to my death ) Flex 2: http://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/BT7XCxKy4HmbZn2a/ Flex 3 (Thok only): http://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/xaJyBFYvqbmThdVG/ Edit: Added a Thok flex 3, possibly the closest to a complete stationary fight as I was able to get off attacking Thok during Phase 2 without dying. I won't add anymore logs because I'm assuming this should be enough fights to choose from? :P Any help is appreciated! Sajakain 104 Report post Posted August 11, 2014 Reading over these posts, it seems you're just looking for some guidance on your AoE rotation. For Arms, it's pretty straight forward: Make use of Thunder Clap because it will apply Deep Wounds to all targets hit thanks to yourBlood and Thunder passive. The more targets, the merrier! You don't have to spam this - every 15 seconds will suffice. Even with a minimum of 2 targets, you'll want to maintain Sweeping Strikes. In addition to this, in Arms specifically, your Slam will do distribute 35% of it's damage to all targets within 2 yards (Basically when you have adds that are stacked.) The nice thing about Sweeping Strikes is it's buff duration and the cooldown recovery time are the same - if need be you can always have this buff up.If you're worried about more than 2 or more targets you'll want to useBladestorm instead of Dragon Roar. These three points are it, in a nutshell. I feel like I keep questioning whether to save up my recklessness or just blow it immediately when it comes off CD Under most circumstances you'll want to use it when it's available. This CD is restricted to you only so there's no worries about benefiting the raid at an optimal time. There are times, though, you may want to save it for a GCD or two if you're about to hit a Heroism, time it with Synapse Springs, begin an Execute phase, or boss mechanic specifics such as Berserker Stance on Nazgrim. I know this may sound confusing at first so... the bottom line is to simply use it when you can. Once you're comfortable with it's CD recovery time and all boss mechanics you'll develop a better understanding of when to use it or when to save it. Lollerblazed 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2014 Thanks for the reply :) I recently made the change to fury because I wanted to maximize my single-target dps, and Arms was getting boring for those fights despite the amazing AOE capabilities on others. As a result, I've kinda grown into fury for AOE fights too so I think I'll stick to that even for protectors/galak etc. However, I'll definitely bear in mind the rotation should I feel like maximizing dps on those fights again. Thanks for the clarity on personal CDs, can I ask something about trinket ICDs? How important are they when considering holding off reck, should time allow for it in the fight? I made a similar thread like this in the shaman thread regarding the importance of trinkets and I just want to know whether it's the same case here. Hybrys said that he hardly takes into account trinket procs (except the LMG which doesnt do much for us).
Sajakain 104 Report post Posted August 14, 2014 How important are they when considering holding off reck, should time allow for it in the fight? I monitor my trinket procs and their ICD as well. If an opportunity presents itself to line everything up then I may save Recklessness for one GCD - two at the most. Otherwise I don't worry about it - which is honestly 90% of the time. Lollerblazed 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2014 woah...1 GCD seems like such a small window, I dont think i'm good enough to react on the fly to that yet. I think i'll try leave them out for now and practice tracking reck first, I find that I tend to get lost in the fight and forget how fast 2 minutes fly by.
