Recommended Posts

New race/class combinations will be available in the Dragonflight pre-patch tomorrow.

All races will be able to roll Mages, Priests, and Rogues, which accounts for a total of 8 new combinations:

  • Draenei Rogue
  • Highmountain Tauren Mage
  • Highmountain Tauren Priest
  • Highmountain Tauren Rogue
  • Lightforged Draenei Rogue
  • Orc Priest
  • Tauren Mage
  • Tauren Rogue

Here is a useful cross-tab with all the available race/class combos created by spreadsheetdoode.

I kinda think this is a big F.

😕

But why? I cannot see the downside other than top tier raiders having to spend money to race change if one of those races becomes the best option in the race for WF but that doesn't matter to 99% of the playerbase.

Give it time, they said they'd like to eventually let all races be any class.

They are going to add them eventually, but paladin is one of classes that requires additional assets (in this case, each race gets a different mount). Their plan is to enable all classes for all races, except maybe for demon hunters and evokers (but it's not impossible).

I believe that this is a huge bullshit from Blizzard.

The race combo for alliance druids and shamans are way too limited compared with the horde options.

They should add more options for alliance shamans and druids.

The only class that is in a bit of option disadvantage from the horde is Paladin, but is 3 vs 5, still not fair. Just look at the shamans.

Anything but at this point.

It's an RPG game, stuff like class/race conbos has to make cultural sense. Or, as pointed out in the example above, common sense.

Shamans, Druids, Paladins and Priests are religious-oriented groups first and foremost, some races simply do not have associated beliefs at all, let alone widespread.

But there isn't a lot of religious stuff going on in Warcraft, so no race is restricted. Most of them connect to some force or type of magic that simply exists in that universe. For example, Light isn't a power coming from some god here. Even its "worship" aspect is more about philosophy, to become a better person, helping others or at least to believe that you are doing something good. It's not like D&D, where to become a cleric or paladin requires you to have to worship some deity, and if you stray from their path and ideals, you will become "fallen".

Even in D&D there are no more race/class restrictions, so you can have combinations like dwarf druid or orc paladin.

What is the problem with the Horde having more Shaman capable races and the Alliance having more Paladin capable races? They're more prominent in the faction that they are more culturally relevant to, and many of the class capable races in the opposing faction are just adaptations of very specific sub-cultural beliefs to fit the class archetype.

Except the Tauren Sunstriders and priests are culturally reflected in their duality religious beliefs of the two eyes of the Earth Mother, An'she for the Sun and Mu'sha for the Moon. Yet the Kal'dorei have no paladins and their priests worship Elune. The druids serve Nature itself, and in so end up serving both the Sun, the Moon, and the land itself (which encompasses the plants and animals). Kul Tiran Tidesages aren't shamans in the traditional sense as the Horde sees it, but their affinity for the elements makes it the closest thing for them to be for gameplay. Some (even in the Horde) would argue that Goblins aren't really shamans, given their relationship with the elements is stripped down to the basics of a contract, yet the elements seem to have no issue with it. Blood Knight paladins originally obtained their abilities through force from M'uru, and now after the remains of M'uru and Anveena have re-ignited the Sunwell to a combination of Arcane/Holy, are empowered through it.

Class abilities being standardized for gameplay shouldn't be taken as an interpretation that there's no religion in WoW, even if said religion might turn out to be incorrect (Mograine and Uther both conflated their service of the Light with Bastion, even though that was revealed to be utterly inaccurate).

But these are not real gods. What I meant is an objective concept of gods in fantasy and having their powers tied to them. An'She and Mu'sha might be just an interpretation of Elune. Elune herself might be just a construct, since Winter Queen was one and she is her sister. So yeah, Elune might be a droid, while others (if they exist), are the same or something similar. So it's just a belief that these "gods" might exist, but even if you don't believe in them and/or you are from different culture, you can still learn or obtain these powers. This can work in Warcraft, but it wouldn't work with actual gods (with their existence and powers being a fact) in something like D&D.

If you mean specific orders, Tidesages consist of different classes (shamans, priests, mages). So classes as we know them, do exist in the lore, it's just that same classes can come from different backgrounds. And I don't see why goblins can't be real shamans, the way they obtain power may differ, but they still command elemental powers and it leads to same effect.

And as mentioned before, powers aren't tied to any deity. In D&D they are tied to actual gods, where they have domains. In Warcraft you don't have to be a good person and you might still be able to use Light (and no gods and religion required), while in D&D there is no choice. If you've abandoned your god, you lose related powers (good and evil are tangible concepts there). In Warcraft a civilization might, for example, have a specific order dedicated to the Light, but it doesn't need one. An individual from a different civilization might learn how to wield the Light or commune with nature, become a druid etc. So no one is "locked out".

I don't see why it matters anymore since Alliance and Horde can play together in group content now. In time, all races will probably be able to be any class with some exceptions like demon hunter and evoker. Give it time.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
