Nokodummy 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2014 Hi there, I'd like some feedback on my Mage gameplay, my Mage is an alt that I occasionally raid heroic with. Whenever I raid heroic I like to remain competitive in terms of DPS, however I'm fairly sure I can be doing more on my Mage. I've been reading a lot of the topics here and I think I've picked up a lot, I think I know in theory what I need to be doing to be doing very good DPS, just in practise I think I mess up a bit Armoury link: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/sylvanas/Nokodummy/simple Logs link: http://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/T8x6PbDBQRXvkhJL (Note: I was only on my mage until Siegecrafter, then I was on my Enhancement Shaman, so you can ignore the last three bosses, unless you'd like to supply Enhancement shaman feedback, but I'm sure you'd rather leave that for the Shaman forums ) I think I'm decent at Frost but at Arcane I'm fairly sure there are a lot of tweaks and things to smooth out. The logs supplied have both arcane and frost fights. Thanks for your help guys -Nokodummy
Nokodummy 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2014 Would still love some feedback on the above topic if anyone out there is kind enough to delve deep into my logs, take them apart and scrutinize my every move. In the mean time, I have another question. For Arcane at the moment, what kind of haste breakpoints are worth going for? An Arcane mage I know is telling me two things. 1. Go for low haste and prioritise Mastery and Crit, as long as you still have some haste and 2. Always use frost armour as Arcane. Is this correct? durrtygoodz 60 Report post Posted October 1, 2014 on sha you need to use your frozen orb on the adds. if i look at http://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/T8x6PbDBQRXvkhJL#fight=10&type=damage-done&source=8&target=162 you only got 120k orb dmg on them. but if you look at my logs (my guild is sloppy on that fight so i do kinda bad dps but yeh) you can see frozen orb doing insane dmg. also you need to use greater invis to stand in the adds when the spawn and get loads of pride. then you willb e picked for gift and if you have gift you wont get banished or put in prison, as well as doing the sick dps cuz of the buff ;) on shamans you need to make your ktt proc more by gently carresing it and caring for it. treat it like a beautiful woman. love it. care for it. and at night time fuck it mercilessly like a dirty slut and make that shit proc.

Berlinia 168 Report post Posted October 3, 2014 Immerseus -few Cone of Cold casts. -low uptime on Living Bomb. This makes me think you living bomb sha globules which is just a loss. Consider taking Frost Bomb as Arcane and Bomb the adds when they are gathered (you might want to delay casting the bomb when doing that) TFP -10 AE casts but 0 CoC casts -Very few Arcane Barrage casts. At 4 targets you want to build up AC and then dump as fast as possible Sha Durrty pretty much covered it IJ -abit too many RoP casts. You need to stand out of your group and precast runes at the pull. 12 casts in a 3:15 encounter are just too many! -You have lost damage on a few sources because so many of your casts where RoP Shammy -abit low IL cleave damage-Do you use CoC on the green slobs? Nokodummy 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) Thanks for getting back to me Really appreciate it. I'm raiding again tonight, will take on board what you've said and try to do better. I'll post logs here after the raid, hopefully they'll be slightly more impressive. What about Frost armour/Mage armour as arcane? Like I mentioned above, a guildy suggests using Frost armour at all times now, however all other Arcane mages I've seen are still using Mage armour. Thanks -Noko Edited October 3, 2014 by Nokodummy

Thanks -Noko From a basic fundamental viewpoint you want mage armor, it boosts your mastery which is a big part of your damage as an arcane mage. Now, once you start to hit really high ilvls and you have "enough" mastery from your gear and gems then maybe I can see it justifiable to switch to frost so you can build charges faster. However, for the most part mage armor is your friend as arcane :D

Frost Armor is better for single target, but going straightout mastery is far better for anything AoE. For example mastery arcmage will do more damage on Immerseus or Nazgrim adds (on pull)

We are there as well with some former IV mage mods. ;P
