KoragonArt 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2014 Good day rogues. My alt rogue that I enjoy playing a lot finally got a new weapon that isn't flex...but it's a dagger. ATM the rogue is 564 and combat with 569 AoC and two flex 2.6 mainhands. What is the best way to make use of this new weapon? I feel like I should just ignore it and keep trying for a 2.6 wep (they won't drop). Or should I upgrade it and use the flex daggers I also have and go assassination? I'd rather ask now rather than potentially waste upgrades on it later and get no improvement.
Krushinator 49 Report post Posted September 14, 2014 A dagger offhand works fine for combat. If the item level is higher than your slow offhand, you'll get a better result.
Wobrig 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2014 Sorry to jump onto your post but is almost the same question. I have had a good weekend with loot on my alt rogue. It is combat and now upto 549, I had the normal dagger loom and lfr protectors fist weapon but last night a normal dagger dropped. should I use both daggers and change spec, use both daggers and stay combat or keep the lfr and stay combat? I have played assa a bit and alittle of sub and only really changed to combat on friday but seemed to get some nice numbers out considering the poor gear. Thanks for the help and sorry again for jumping on this post.
Krushinator 49 Report post Posted September 15, 2014 Playing combat with two daggers is a bad option, so don't do that. You can either use the fist weapon and the better dagger to stay Combat, or use two daggers and choose one of the other specs. At that point it mostly comes down to personal comfort and preference. In a single target fight, you will have a higher potential if you use your best weapons and go Subtlety, but if you don't know how to play Subtlety very well then you aren't gaining any DPS. Since we're so late in the expansion, I would recommend getting to know your lesser played specs, because you never know what will end up on top next tier. If your raid demands your best possible DPS, then you should stick with what you know best.
Wobrig 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2014 Hi Krushinator, thanks for your fast reply. To be honest my rogue is about my 4th or 5th best geared char that I decided last week to have a try out for a possible change in wod. Before last week I probably haven't played my rogue in over 6 months . But so far I have really enjoyed myself and want to try and better myself with the class and all three specs. I have played a bit of assa in the past but im up for learning a bit of sub though. O and i also only have my 3 set but still not bad for a weeks gearing So if I get 1 slow normal weapon can i use one dagger with combat or is it better to have no daggers? Falcifer 7 Report post Posted September 15, 2014 For combat, you only need a slow weapon in your main hand. Killing Spree is a big source of damage and casts 7 strikes regardless of weapon speed. Since the slower weapons have a higher amount of damage on them to compensate for being slower, they hit harder during Killing Spree. Whichever weapon has the higher item level is usually best for off-hand. Daggers work just fine.
