Numeous Players Receiving Mysterious Bans for Exploiting: It's Tailoring!

Recommended Posts

Clipboard03.jpg

Many players have been reporting receiving anything from 1 to 4 week suspensions and being very unclear as to why, since the message only vaguely tells them they were exploiting.

The answer to this short-lived mystery came quickly as a lot of the confused players mentioned that it might possibly have to do with using the Chronocloth Bolt Chronocloth Bolt and Azureweave Bolt Azureweave Bolt bug, where their cooldown wasn't resetting properly and players were making many more of them a day than the intended amount. The cooldown resets would happen from random activities, even something as simple as joining a group, so it wasn't exactly a pre-planned exploit.

Now the discussion is an interesting one, as there was no explicit indication what the intended amount of crafts/intended cooldown is (as some players even had plenty of points in the Chronocloth specialization), although there was a general consensus going around about it being a bug. There are those that abused it fully and just spammed every single cooldown they could, and those that only used it a little over the intended amount (which wasn't clear to begin with), so the large amount of bans going out is a tricky subject (although the duration of the suspension may be related to the amount of cloth made - or it may be the usual, based on number of previous infractions).

And there's more:

Luckily a few players are seeing some humor in it as well:

So... fair or unfair bans?

What about people exploiting rares from the starts, making unfair huge amounts of golds and stealing the market from honnest players ? Where is the justice ?

Wrong is done, they can't fix it, this is incredibly unfair, they could at least ban them and rollback their accounts (or banlife).

Continued use of a bug/exploit just because Blizzard hasn't fixed it (or even acknowledged it) yet has never been a valid defense against account action, and has even been outlined in the TOS/EULA for over a decade now.

When you use up your available crafts (e.g. Alchemy starts with 7 available), the cooldown remaining is next daily reset minus the current time, not terribly complicated math there. If that starts resetting without a reasonable explanation, why risk it? Even if you take a knowledge path that increases your daily uses from 7 to 10, you're still only gaining 3 if you already did 7 today, and then from next reset onward your max available will show 10 from the start.

Also, the strawman arguments "but what about x bug that hasn't been addressed yet" are just laughable, as if totally separate bug/exploit is somehow justification for avoiding punishment for using this bug/exploit.

I think it’s kinda crappy, with all these people doing exploits and they hit crafters with a ban. I would have never noticed prob because how confusing crafting was from the start. I could see doing it if the crafting was like it was in past expac s, but with how confusing it can be now banning ppl that may have just accidentally used it a handful of times in the past 3 or 4 times is kinda crappy… imo not a good look!

I am a tailor and I realized that something was wrong, but only later, I got the specialization this week and it was sad to make my rolls, but to my surprise I could make several (less than 10), but it was still more than 1, note : I did this in a sequence and not leaving the group or doing anything that could be purposeful, I even thought it was a "bonus" related to "how many I would have done from the beginning", currently it is more regular, doing only 1 each X hours

Agreed. This is a no win situation for everybody. It looks bad for Blizzard and hits many players with no real ill intent. Yes the math is easy and it should´ve been super obvious that something is wrong.

Nonetheless its the vast majority of those who sent their alt army upon every bug to exploit it to the max because "its blizzards fault", so if they punish this, they can only punsih everybody, or none.

The problem is that the "x of y" crafts remaining really isn't explained, and the UI is very different than it was before. Like, before this, I didn't even realize that it was related to the cooldown, with a number of crafts pre-loaded or something. Did they even have multiple crafts before cooldown before Dragonflight? I'll admit I haven't done much serious crafting the last couple expansions, just leveling my engineering to get access to the toys, and call it a day for 2 years, usually. lol.

How can anything for DF be available "for weeks since launch"? The game has only been out for two weeks.

If it's more than 1 week, it's weeks.

Obtuse be obtuse. You know the point I was making. The statement was poorly constructed and would have made sense by simply reading "since launch". "for weeks since launch" gives the impression that the game has been out longer than the problem exists.

Sure, because the people reading r/wow don't know the difference, right? Speaking of obtuse...

It's not about the people reading "knowing" the difference, it's about wording the statement correct.

I really don't think people posting on r/wow are or should be overly concerned about that level of phrasing. If it was a professional article or similar we could get into a deeper discussion, but I'm sorry, you're just being a little difficult here for no particular reason.

See I also COULD ding you yourself for saying "it's about wording the statement correct." when it should be "correctly", but that would be stupid, since this is a forum about a game we all enjoy together and you should be allowed to express your views casually without others criticizing you for it.

Bruh, are you new to the internet?

As for correct/correctly, it can go either way. In "proper" English, "correctly" would be the way to go. However, it has become commonplace for "correct" to be used instead as people feel "correctly" seems odd. So, while you are CORRECT in that CORRECTLY is strict English, I am not INCORRECT in using CORRECT as I did.

That aside, my statement of "wording the statement correct" was not about proper English, it was about wording the statement in question correct as in to not create confusion. Stating "for weeks since launch" again implies the game has been out longer than the problem when, in fact, the problem has existed equally as long as the release. So, stating "since launch" instead, is correct.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
