Blizzard have posted a little catch-up guide for new and returning players, going over Dragonflight features, Adventure Mode and more.

If you have yet to dip your toes into the shores of the Dragon Isles or you’re bringing friends and allies back to Azeroth, we’ve put together this great catch-up guide for you!

The Dragon Isles have lain dormant and are waiting for explorers to uncover the secrets of a lost past. While on your journey, you’ll assist the Dragonflights in reclaiming their legacy while also helping the inhabitants dwelling within these ancient lands.

Explorers and Adventurers Wanted

To make the trek to the Dragon Isles, players must own the new Dragonflight expansion and have a character at level 60 or higher.

For New Players

If you're new to World of Warcraft and have never created or leveled a character, you will automatically begin your journey into Azeroth with the Exile's Reach starting experience. Here you will learn the basics of your class and the fundamentals of interacting with the world you've become a part of.

After completing the adventure, you'll move into Battle for Azeroth, where you'll be able to dig into the conflict between the Alliance and the Horde and level to 60 before moving on into the Dragon Isles and the new high-level areas introduced in Dragonflight.

For Veteran Players

If you're a veteran player or you've leveled a character before, you can opt out of the Exile's Reach starting experience and begin at level 1 in the starting area for your race instead. Upon reaching level 10, you can continue into Battle for Azeroth or speak with Chromie to choose a Timewalking Campaign. Choose an expansion and continue leveling until you're ready to enter the Dragon Isles at level 60.

Players with Allied race characters will begin at level 10. Non-Allied race Death Knights and Demon Hunters will automatically start at level 8 and play through their own starting experience before moving on at level 10.

For those who have reached higher levels but stepped away for a couple of expansions, you will be offered a teleport to Chromie to choose a timeline to begin your adventure.

The Dragon Isles Await

Along with a level cap of 70, Dragonflight will have players busy with a new set of features to explore. To take the first step, however, our heroes of the Alliance and Horde will need to know where to begin the Dragonflight quests.

Once your character reaches level 60, you’ll be able to start the Dragonflight questline. The short intro quest takes place in your faction’s capital city, either Orgrimmar or Stormwind. There you will recruit troops before jumping aboard a zeppelin or ship, beginning your journey to the Dragon Isles and the first zone you’ll explore—the Waking Shores.

Leveling Your Alts with Adventure Mode

Dragon Isles Adventure Mode is a system that will assist in leveling your alts in Dragonflight. Once you reach level 68 on your main character and complete the campaign storyline for each zone—The Waking Shores, Ohn’ahran Plains, The Azure Span, and Thaldraszus—Adventure Mode will unlock for your alts. This will open up World and Profession Trainer Quests and allows them to explore the zones in any order the moment they step foot onto the Dragon Isles

That said, make the best of your alts journey and aim to hit Renown levels 10 and 20 on your main characters. Doing so will help earn Renown faster at the lower Renown levels for your alts and open up a treasure trove of rewards like toys, transmogs, and dragonriding customizations.

New Race and Class – Dracthyr Evoker

This hero class serves as both a race and a class in combination. Created by Neltharion the Earth-Warder, the essence of dragons was combined with the adaptability of the mortal races to create an elite soldier capable of switching from a draconic form to a humanoid form. Long in a magical stasis, they are now awakening in the Forbidden Reach to a new reality and begin reclaiming their fractured memories. Players with Dragonflight can create their first level 58 Dracthyr Evoker. To learn more, read through our article.

Major Factions and Renown

You’ll meet four Major Factions as you progress through the Dragon Isles. Each faction seeks an alliance with burgeoning heroes and offers unique account-wide goods and services like cosmetic items, recipes for Professions, and Dragonriding customizations. The four Major Factions within the Dragon Isles are the Dragonscale Expedition, the Iskaara Tuskarr, the Maruuk Centaur, and the Valdrakken Accord. To understand the Major Factions and their role in Dragonflight, read our article.

Earn Your Wings

Ascend to new heights and soar above the Dragon Isles on your own dragon. A skilled Dragonrider is a force to be reckoned with, capable of catching up to any foe, ambushing enemies from above, and soaring above the Dragon Isles with impressive speed. Through your travels on the Dragon Isles, you’ll begin training to become a Dragonrider and earn a Dragon Isles Drake. In the hands of a skilled rider, these imposing winged terrors are capable of masterful maneuvers. More details on how to take to the Draong Isles skies can be found here.

Get Ready to Raid

Vault of the Incarnates
The Primalists breached the Titan prison used to hold the Incarnates for millennia. Within, Raszageth performs a foul ritual to unleash her siblings so together they can purge the world of the Titans' influence. The champions of Azeroth must assault this impregnable fortress and break their defenses to end this threat. While many could fall, defeat condemns all the realms to the Incarnates' reign of fire and blood.

Vault of the Incarnates is the first raid players will experience in Dragonflight, featuring eight all-new boss encounters available in four difficulties: Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic. The details and information to help you get started can be found in our article.

Now is the perfect time to explore the Dragon Isles and team up with allies to reclaim the legacy of the Dragonflights.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
