Great guide! Got me up to GR77 without much hassle (using Skular's instead of APD, just need more dodging from time to time). One thing bothers me, though. Does this build make good use of area damage? I see %damage on Blade of the Tribes isn't listed as preffered stat, but neither is AD. My survivability is fine (life per fury on belt and regen on boots) and I wonder which would be better to have on weapon: +10% damage, or +24% Area Damage?

Late, but for future people asking: AD.

Hey guys

this is the build I'm trying to get (or something as close as possible) I want to know how far I can reach according to you guys : https://www.d3planner.com/968293104

Most likely similar to this build, slightly lower. Around 80-85.

I have a question about this build.  Wouldn't  War CryWar Cry Veteran's WarningVeteran's Warning be better than using Wrath of the BerserkerWrath of the Berserker InsanityInsanity?  War cry drops an earthquake and an avalanche every 7 seconds or so, and you get a permanent 30% dodge chance.  Wouldn't the damage from this far overcome a 20 second +50% damage boost every 75 seconds or so?

Hi Deadset, thanks for all these builds, i am currently studying them and it is improving my D3 game and experience!!

Just a quick one, you describe the Girdle of Giants as the Best in Slot, but on the gear you have Dead Iron as best, i take it that this is typo?  should be the Giants?

Thanks for helping us all

Love the guide and thanks for posting all of these Deadset. Leapquake is one of my favorite builds and I've been trying to optimize my build.

With regard to gear, most builds prioritize Area Damage on items that will roll it. But according to a post by Nubtro, "hard-cast Quake can trigger Area Damage on every tick, but Quakes caused by Leap, Shout, and Warcry still cannot" (as of Patch 2.4.1). I'm wondering if this info is correct or if more recent changes have been made. Or conversely is it still worth running Area Damage even though the majority of your Quakes are not hard cast?

Any advice would be welcome. Should I really be prioritizing Area Damage?

There was an update during the 2.4 lifecycle that fixed it, AD should work correctly with all Earthquakes now! I double-checked with Nijinx's clear of GR99 with Leapquake (probably the highest current clear with this build, certainly the highest I've seen) and it also stacked heavily into AD.

Thanks for the info Deadset. I was able to confirm that Area Damage was fixed in Patch 2.4.2, just as you said. It can be triggered from Earthquakes and Avalanches caused by Shout, Warcry, and Leap! This is awesome. Last season my damage was plateauing around GR80, and I think more AD will allow me to push into the 90s.

Thanks for all the tips in the build!

I used to be addicted to the whirlwind build, but it has only brought me so far. The Leap-build has got so more destructive potention! I have to say I use a few other items atm:
- Bracers of destruction. I have got an ancient version which makes seismic slam quite good,
- Band of might. I don't understand why this isn't in the build, it is so good!
- Unity. Is this considered cheating if you use this? If not, it sure is good for survivability!

I prefer these two rings instead of the focus-restraint combo. I think those are better to be used in a whirlwind build. Will test them out though when I reach the GR ceiling.

For the cube I now use this trio to maximize my cooldown on leap:
- The furnace
- Leoric's Crown
- Ring of Royal Grandeur

In this case I use Lutsocks as feet on my character. Currently the best since I have an ancient pair.

I have got my cooldown on 42,24% which makes it possible to almost leap continuesly.

The other cube setup I was thinking of:
- The furnace
- Lut socks
- Convention of elements

In this case I switch to the full earth-set, but loose 12,5% cooldown. Haven't tested this version yet.

Let me know what you guys think!

Your replacements are very focused on survivability which, normally, isn't an issue for Barbs. You're going to run into a massive damage wall at some point, where you simply won't push through because of your lack of damage. What GR are you currently pushing?

Currently going through GR75 without much effort. Using the focus-restraint ring combo currently since indeed it gives more some more DPS. With the focus-restraint combo I use Lutsocks and Band of Might in the cube. Besides that I use Avalanche - Lahar instead of Wrath of the Beserker. Since the cooldown of Avalanche is minimalized due to Lahar I think I can do more steady damage with it then with WotB. Currently I have only 3 ancient legendaries and no caldesann's despair buff's. The DPS on my weapon is kinda low with 3160. Still grinding for a ramaladni's gift, or hope to be lucky on a ancient legendary version of the weapon. With my passives I also have a slight different setup since I use Brawler instead of Nerves of Steel. Not yet sure what is better.

Very fun build. Currently maxed at solo GR 100 with band of might in cube and war cry instead of battle rage.

Great guide. Just wondering if you could drop Threatening Shout and replace it with Avalanche (Volcano), keep Band of Might, and maintain the needed damage output for higher GRs? In this instance, I would also use War Cry instead of Battle Rage as well.

I'm an idiot. I had an Ancient Tribes drop early and rerolled a prime stat. Now I have a Gift (2 actually from the same GRift) and can't use it! Should I wait for another Ancient Tribes or use the Gift on a standard Tribes? Without knowing the stats I'm sure it's hard to say, but generally, what do you think?

NM - I rerolled it twice and got another Ancient!

I had seen this build do massive damage in public GR runs, but I was kinda dedicated to building a WW barb, already had 3 barbs and 3 necros... so I was saving space a scrapping all the Earth set pieces I came across.  Then Kadala decided to give me a primal pair of Earth pants...and now I have a LeapQuake barb.  Plays well, and where as it seems slow it is no slower than an IK HotA build.  It's kinda growing on me...  Thanks for all the good builds on here, by the way

Hey!

I'm still using a very old build from icy-veins, prob posted by deadset too but tbh been tryin different updates they make to this build and I still think they got nothin on this old one: https://eu.diablo3.com/en/profile/Innervoid-2995/hero/72288270

Today I made a GR71 just to remember how to play with barb and the timer didnt even reached 50%... The stunlock on this build is ridiculous. Either a boss can 1 shot me (unlikely with all the dmg red this build has) or it will be impossible to kill me. Gonna try really high GR but I think I'll prob fall behind over dmg rather than surv.

Blizzard have moved the launch of Season 34 back a week!
While it was supposed to start today, Blizzard cite players not wanting the new D3 and D4 season launches to overlap on the same week, and needing more time to get the season properly set up, as the previous one ended early.
      Season 34 Delay (Source)
      Hi all
We have shifted the start for the new season of Diablo III to next week. This is due to a few items:
We received a good amount of feedback that many didn’t want overlap with the first weekend of Diablo IV’s new season. We agree so we are building out that gap and will be more mindful of that going forward.
This will help us properly ensure account states migrate over as we had an issue with the prior season rolling early and us having to kick things back on.
You can find the exact times on our Season 34 blog.

Cosmetic rewards for the patch are as follows:

Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 34: Light’s Calling. Starting on January 24 at 5 p.m. PST/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Light’s Calling theme, which first debuted with Season 27. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below. Also, Season 33 will officially come to an end on January 19.

Looking to turn the tide of an unremitting war between light and darkness, the Angels of the High Heavens have embedded a token of their righteousness in Sanctuary. Cunning Nephalem seeking an advantage in combat will undergo an angelic trial, crystallizing a symbol of their morality into pure, otherworldly perfection. The specific celestial force imbued within by the divine is unknown—an answer waiting to be sought on the battlefield. Go forth, Nephalem!
Season 34 reintroduces Light’s Calling. Valiant Nephalem who recover Angelic Crucibles, a new consumable item, may use them to Sanctify any equippable Legendary item, infusing it with one of three new class-specific powers at random. We wanted to use Angelic Crucibles to lean into the expertise of each class, further exemplifying its respective prowess, but through a nuanced lens. The High Heavens are home to ethereal splendor, bursting with boundless radiance—we wanted to provide players with a taste of untainted power as doled out from Heaven itself.

      Season Cosmetic Rewards
In Season 34, awards originally available from Season 10 are returning. In addition to the Head and Shoulder slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn the Black Soulstone themed portraits and the scholarly Loremaster pennant first introduced in Season 10.

However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic ones for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth alongside the Shades of the Nephalem and complete the Season 34 Guardian Journey to earn the Book of Cain pet and the Lost Civilization Portrait Frame.

      Season Journey Rewards
If you’ve been diligently slaying demons before and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conqueror tier, up to a maximum of five:
Guardian of Sanctuary: Finish a level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment XIII difficulty within five minutes. Gem of My Life: Level three Legendary Gems to level 55. All I Do is Win: Complete two Conquests this Season. Life Goes On: Kill Maghda at level 70 in under 15 seconds on Torment XIII difficulty. Money Ain’t a Thang: Slay Greed on Torment XIII difficulty. Seasonal Conquest
Seasonal Conquests are additional goals you can complete as part of our Season Journey. To earn all the cosmetic rewards, you'll need to complete at least three of the Conquests below. The challenges available in Season 34 include:
Sprinter and Speed Racer task you with completing Acts I through V at max level in under one hour. Want to go fast while killing things? Boss Mode and Worlds Apart are right up your alley. On A Good Day and I Can’t Stop are making a return, if leveling your Legendary Gems is more your thing. Finally, if you’re keen to prove your mastery of various Class Sets, Years of War and Dynasty will be returning along with Masters of the Universe and Masters of Sets. Best of luck! Return to Top
      Haedrig’s Gift

Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works.
Completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. These contain a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely!
The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. In this season, Haedrig's Gift will grant all-new class sets introduced with previous Seasons.
Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 34:
Barbarian - Horde of the Ninety Savages Crusader - Aegis of Valor Demon Hunter - Gears of Dreadlands Monk - Patterns of Justice Witch Doctor - Mundunugu’s Regalia Wizard - Typhon’s Veil Necromancer - Masquerade of the Burning Carnival Return to Top

It seems something went very wrong with Season 33, as it it just... ended a while ago. Players took to the forums as there was no early warning, other than a server message around an hour before it all ended. PezRadar responded clarifying that this is not intended and that Blizzard are looking into what happened.
      Season End (Source)
Heard and got some pings while I’ve been out and I have production checking on this early end. This shouldn’t have ended today so something is funky. Will provide an update once I hear back.
