6.1 Demonology Guide

Recommended Posts

I don't need it, on my bar never used it, was wondering if I was suppose to use it and how much dps lose would it yield. On fights where lots of raid damage is happen, is it worth using DL to help the healers or just keep to normal surivial (Sac Pact, Resolve,Dark Reg) Right now those are what I use.

For glyph I using Life tap (one that puts absorb shield up), DS, and HS (so I don't have to use healing potions), should I change HS glyph with something else, and just use the potions (I can easily get the sea scorpion to make tons of potions).

Got 4set after downing Blackhand yday. It's pretty weird to get used too having that extra charge biggrin.png

does it make any significant changes to the rotation, or is it just an extra charge to utilise?

I'd say the rotation doesn't change much besides maybe the opener, mainly due to the potential proc from Corruption.

You will probably still want to sit on one charge and start to use it before the next one is available.

I could be wrong for single target though as a 2% chance isn't that much.

Will be interesting for aoe though, especially for fights like Darmac or Thogar where you have adds that die to quickly for Doom to tick but still live long enough to get some corruption ticks because it doesn't state only proccing from the latest Corruption.

Didn't get to test it yet because I'm only sitting at one piece so far sad.png

Isn't HoG -> filler -> filler -> HoG -> filler -> filler -> HoG better than the normal rotation? Don't you get more uptime with 2 stacks that way?

What do you mean better than the normal 'rotation'?

That IS the normal 'rotation', except thanks to Pandemic you actually get longer to stack any subsequent HoG.

I do my normal opener, then after I drop out from 2x Demonbolt and Doom I cast my third, continuing the debuff, fitting in 3 fillers or so, then cast 4th, all the while HoG hasn't dropped off. Depending on RNG I think I've gone a full minute without the debuff dropping. That was on Hanz n Franz and I had insane RNG.

Sorry I should have been more clear, the post before me said that we should sit on one charge and then do the normal hog cycle a few seconds before the next charge comes up, my question is if its actually better to sit on two charges and do a 3x hog rotation instead of sitting on one charge and doing a 2x hog rotation(like we do it now without the 4p and the extra charge).

I wouldn't advise sitting on two charges because you run the risk of getting a 4pc proc and wasting the cooldown. Best case scenario you HoG just after hitting 2 charges, and you should manage to land 3 quite easily.

How do people spend fury when specced into Cata? Do they chaos wave multiple targets? Pool Molten Core procs for use with Dark Soul? Also I've read here that some people don't glyph Dark Soul, but I've seen some great parses with people casting Dark Soul before Cataclysm for the bonus damage.

MC procs (or toc, looking into it it seems to be a viable option during movement) in meta. Try and stay in meta for the whole duration of DS.

Glyphing DS or not, I'm not 100% sure, you'd get it with every cata with the glyph, but you lose out on uptime on meta dps. I guess it depends how large of a portion cata will be of your dps.

Since having 4piece is getting closer for most of us, have you guys decided for yourself how you will utilise having 3 stacks of HoG? Haven't really been able to test it on ptr yet but waiting for 3 stacks and then going for a long 2 stack debuff seems logical , no?

i mean starting a HoG sequence right before having 3 stacks would allow the first casted Hog be rdy again once the 2nd 2stack dot wud run allowing it to run again (again, i haven't done in it in practise but just thinking out loud here)

It might be a stupid question, but thought I'd throw it in here anyways because I'm curious.

Are the trinket sims up to date on all of the guides? I've been trying to figure out at what point is CC outclassed by the BRF trinkets? I play Demo / Destro and right now I have  HWFSoN and 3/3 Sandmans, but the guides still sim CC + GSR etc as the best combination. CC recently dropped in price on my server by a lot and was wondering whether it's still near BiS and worth picking up, or if Heroic BRF trinkets will outperform it pretty heavily (should be able to snag them if they drop in my group).

Thanks for the response, these forums have been great for improving my play in general through lurking biggrin.png

I´m also interested on this, I´m almost in the same situation.

If anyone have a response for this please let us know, thanks!

You can't stack to 3, so waiting for 3 charges wont be beneficial.  Without the 4p, your goal is to wait until you are within ~5s of having both charges, and stack them.... then wait for both to recharge back to ~5s and repeat.

With the 4p, you will want to wait as close to 2 charges as possible, without going over.  Any time you are over 2 charges you risk losing cooldown time with a proc.  For example if you have two charges, and your 3rd charge is half done.. you get a proc.. you have now lost 6 seconds worth of recharge time on that 3rd charge.

When I was testing on PTR I found that waiting until your second charge is backup to start your stack worked best, as a proc of the 4p would allow me to roll the 2 stack long enough for an additional charge to become available, allowing me to roll it forward for 4 refreshes.

Confusing?  Yeah

Caveat: I am not a SIM guy.

The Spellpower from CC is very good for Demonbolt, very good.  The main problem with it however is you only have it for 1 out of every 3-4 DB dumps and the rest of the time its only the passive crit rating.  You will have a higher burst opener with the beefy SP proc, but your primary source of Damage, DB, only ever benefits from half the duration of the proc.

The main advantages of the BRF trinkets over CC is that they have a very nice amount of Int on them, which counts for every DB cycle.  The BRF trinkets will give you a better averaged dps each DB cycle, CC provides burst.

I currently have Mythic SoN and CC and plan to replace CC with the first Heroic or better BRF trinket I get.

I see the same faces in this thread as a few others so maybe best to ask here.

Liquid made a point that tab targetting isn't always effective, and I know this myself sometimes having to hit tab about 5 times rapidly to make it move to another target.

Clicking the target individually was mentioned/

I guess that requires some decent nameplat setup. I'm relatively happy with my nameplates, I'm using Elvui at present. I used to use tidyplates and everything else but consolidated down to just elvui and its serving me well.

As a player I've been steadily improving since the start of Highmaul, where now I'm now longer the laughing sotck of the guild DPS, which is nice. but I want to keep moving forward.

I find at present I tab target because a) Camera angels mean I can't get a proper overheard view of my character while keeping nameplates viewable and b) I find it kinda hard to select nameplates,

I'll post a screenshot later of my setup, but just wondering if anyone has some screens to share to maybe see what other people see when in combat with multiple targets. I think my plates overlap, and there is emphasised highlight on current target.

I personally am using ElvUI and have not made any changes to the default.  I used to tab target religiously, however this expac I have found it doesn't work worth a shit.  It used to reliably cycle through all targets in range in front of you, now it seems to jump back and forth between two, if it even updates your target at all.

I play with Vbars up at all times, and the only time I have trouble is when there are multiple (8 or more) targets and the nameplates constantly rearrange themselves.  This however, is generally not much of an issue as in those situations I am usually not trying to change targets constantly as I am using AoE spells.

I switched from Elvui target frames back to Tidy plates a few weeks ago. I really love Elvui, but Tidy Plates just does the target frames so much better.

Notice a lot of the Warlocks doing mythic progression yesterday were using synergy...

I use Synergy for everything cept Thogar where I use Service because it lines up well with first Train split adds.

I've been using supremacy exclusively through Highmaul and now BRF, going to swop over to Synergy for tonights continued heroic content.

I take the differences are minimal enough, but looks to be the popular choice at the moment so figure might as well tag along :D

Synergy has been the most popular choice on almost every encounter for a while now.

On average, both Synergy and Supremacy are close, however good RNG will see Synergy pull ahead, which makes it more fun, and generally the better option.

So what's the reasoning behind people going for synergy instead of supremacy? Is it because many already have the four piece bonus and don't need the extra fury generated by supremacy?

It's my understanding that supremecy is only the better option on a fight with constant cleave over the duration.  That way the wrathguard can constantly wail on 2+ targets.  Im only speaking from heroic experience so that just means hanz and franze + maidens.  Even then it's debatable.  Correct me if i'm wrong.
