Beast Mastery Hunter 6.2

Recommended Posts

I've tested and seen the effects of the "Iron Hawk" versus "Spirit Bond" for BM hunters. For me at least, Spirit bond wins for every encounter, that constant 2% heal for me AND my pet every 2s surpasses the 'miserable' 10% reduction of the iron hawk, and you spare healing potions or healers mana for some raid damage. 'Overheal'? Better a passive overheal, than a 10% reduction on 200k boss damages, or any other big damage. That one would be useful for MM or SV with lonewolf talent IMO, since they wouldn`t in sane mind use a pet.

I rarely use Deterrence with it, and only on some exceptions, even then, there is still the backup healing tonic (which is healing more than the Healthstones, check for yourselves on that, dunno why blizz didn't fix it).

Posthaste I use mostly than other talents so that I have to movement Impairing effect remover (apart with Master's Call, for backup) and the speed buff. Again, Spirit Bond making less use of deterrence makes this more appealling to me.

Maybe (If people keep insisting on those talents) make that it would mean for 'Progression content' than those that may try old content.

The problem with Spirit Bond is, if your going to die in a raid setting, it's because of a big hit.  The 10% damage reduction on said big hit is going to be more effective and more likely to allow you to survive than a tiny 2% heal every 2s.  If you're dieing to small hits then that is your healers either not paying attention, you're standing out of range of them, or you're standing in fire, and in the last two cases you deserve to die.  To be honest, a lot of us recommend using Exhilaration for that talent tier, as it's a powerful 30% heal on a 2min cd, which can easily save your life in the case of a big hit.  Or in the case of multiple medium sized hits quickly (think Pound on Kormrok and IR), Exhilaration would be better here as well.

AND my pet

The only time healing your pet is useful is for soloing MoP content, where your pet actually takes damage because it's the one tanking.  Seriously, most 25H cata raid bosses can be killed within your opener for most classes at a decent gear level, healing your pet in these isn't an issue.  When I do (rarely anymore) go back and do MoP content, then yes, I will run BM with Spirit Bond, Mend Pet glyph, and MD to pet glyph, as that's where keeping my pet alive actually matters.

I rarely use Deterrence with it, and only on some exceptions, even then, there is still the backup healing tonic (which is healing more than the Healthstones, check for yourselves on that, dunno why blizz didn't fix it).

Rarely using deterrence is bad.  Deterrence is one of the most powerful defensive cooldowns in the game, and allows for us hunters to "cheese" some mechanics by popping it and ignoring the mechanic altogether (Soaking Cavatation waves on Zakuun, doing Empowered runes on Kormrok, stacking doom wells on Gorefiend, etc).  For the level 15 talents, you should always in a PvE environment be taking CT;HC, as the cooldown reduction on Deterrence is too valuable.

The Pawn link in the Beast Mastery section for Add-ons leads to the same string used for MM. Sorry if I missed something where this was explained.

That would be because Azortharion is no longer keeping up to date his BM and SV guides, and has instead chosen to focus entirely on MM.  The reason being that BM currently has no place in HFC progression compared to MM, however, if you wish to have stat weights for BM, these are what I use.  It's not a pawn string, but it's easy enough to put into pawn.

I was just curious, is the Beast Master info still accurate i.e. gems, enchants build etc.?  Everywhere I look it says to gem, enchant and gear for haste. "Agi > Haste >= Mastery >= Multi >= Vers"

Thanks!!

The difference between gemming haste vs mastery is incredibly small, but haste's strength lies in Beast Cleave, where there isn't very many opportunities to utilize. Mastery is always going to be a very powerful stat, and it is recommended to gem/enchant for it.

I have a question for hunters out there. I play bm in hfc in a heroic raid setting and sometimes mythic setting. Yes I am mid on the meters, but I'd rather not cater to the main raid groups by going mm. I still want to raid with my bm rather than mm Bc of the fantasy and who my character is. Does this cause problems within guilds or for people looking to pug? There have been times where I get into a Pug and they don't notice I'm bm until we pull and I'm holding my own in dps. They then wonder why I'm lower than other hunters and realize I'm bm. They either don't kick me because I'm doing decently or kick me even if I'm doing decently Bc I'm not doing the most optimal damage for a Hunter and prefer I spec to mm.

Also, it's a shame I only saw one other bm during a dungeon and one survival Hunter lvl 100 in orgimor in the last 2 months. I only see mm anymore because of the meters. I talked to a guildy too who said she rather play bm but have to play mm for the raid team and meters. Does this ruin the fantasy for anyone?

Why the class trinket including range? Is this mistaken for MM?

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
