beard 2 Report post Posted September 29, 2012 (edited) So I decided to roll a lock in 4.3 and chose to ding him to 90. Im currently demo...and am having issues with secondary stat weights. Mr robot says: Mastery > Haste > Crit Icy veins says: Mastery > Crit > Haste http://www.icy-veins...ority-reforging Icy veins post by Zagam says: Crit = Haste > Mastery. http://www.icy-veins...and-priorities/ Can you see where I am a bit confused? I am really unsure how to reforge. Can Anyone clarify which one is more correct? Edited September 29, 2012 by beard
beard 2 Report post Posted September 29, 2012 So there are no suggestions as to how I should do this?
Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted September 30, 2012 You can play however you want. The information I linked has mathematical proof behind it. Those simulationcraft.org numbers are done after far many too many iterations to come up with false data. You also need to actually read the information I linked with the stat weights. https://www.icy-veins.com/forums/topic/656-505-warlock-stat-weights-and-priorities/ For reference As you can see, for Demonology, the stat weights are Crit = 2.04, Haste = 2.03, and Mastery = 1.91. These are so close that you can't say Crit > Haste > Mastery and decide that your Warlock will become super awesome. This means that the stats contribute equal amounts of DPS and you can push your stats into whatever you're feeling. Compare this to Affliction's numbers where Mastery = 2.65, Haste = 2.19, and Crit = 1.95. There is a much larger difference between Mastery and Crit here meaning if you don't reforge Crit into Mastery, you're causing yourself to suffer lower numbers. beard 2 Report post Posted September 30, 2012 Thanks guys, the input helps. @Zagam: I totally get what you are saying about stat weights. This is my first lock...and I am transitioning from a tank. Knowing that locks are supposed to be the top dps this tier, I feel a lot of pressure from my raid group to perform well. My dps right now is lower than id like, but I dont know where it SHOULD be at my ilvl, and I just want to make my lock (gear/gems/reforges/enchants) as optimum as I can. @patty: I have heard this too, I use it as a rough ballpark...but have come to utilize IV more for my raid needs. Damien 1,514 Report post Posted September 30, 2012 One problem with Demonology is that the stat weights are very volatile, as in the stat values are so close to each other that depending on your gear, one stat will become slightly better than the others. To say that the Math doesn't lie is a dangerous statement, because it all depends on whether the math used models the rotation properly, which is rarely the case. The stat weights I obtain with PreRaid gear for MoP in SimC are Haste = 1.28, Mastery = 1.16, Crit = 1.15. In T14 Normal gear, the results are yet again slightly different: Crit = 1.60, Mastery = 1.53, and Haste = 1.46. I try to follow how people level up, so for now we're going to use Pre Raid gear for our stat weights and we will change in a few weeks Ask Mr. Robot, just like us, face a problem with the fact that they have to give a solution that has to be general enough to apply to as many players as possible. So there are compromises to be made. Just that in the case of Ask Mr. Robot, stat weights are at the core of the service they offer, so if they give you a stat weight that is not optimal for your specific character, then you are less likely to forgive them than you are to forgive us (since that specific bit of information on Icy Veins is surrounded by a lot of other useful pieces of information).
