Combat Rogue 6.2

Since this is a combat rogue guide stated to be good for 6.1.2 I think it should be noted that: Combat rogues do NOT have Fan of knives, and should not use them to spread "crippling poison"  since we don't have fan of knives.

Just to clarify: He is referring to the https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/combat-rogue-pve-dps-buffs-debuffs-useful-abilitiespage's Crowd Control section.

this guide says combat rogues should use instant poison on the main hand.. i don't seem to have that spell. only deadly and wounding poisons. is this info outdated or does i get instant poison sometime between 92-100 ?

Not sure how active this forum is but I've got a question... Most places say that haste is better than multistrike until you get to a certain number of targets so most combat rogues just go with multistrike... and they can also switch to other specs easily because they want multistrike as well.  My question is that in raiding environments where the majority of the time (apart from trash) I find I need to be doing single target damage to bosses, wouldn't it just be best to go haste > multistrike all the time if you're going to be raiding mostly?  I mean I'm going to get some multistrike on gear anyway so if I have the choice between two pieces of gear that are similar but one has haste and the other has multistrike wouldn't I just be best to go with haste? I find that I would rather get more energy in raiding than deal constant multi-target damage.  I don't intend on playing other specs because combat just feels right for my playstyle personally, so would it be fine for me to choose haste gear over multistrike when I have the option?

Sorry for the ramble, was just hoping to be clear enough to understand what I'm trying to get across and ask.

I go multistrike in Combat, because even though haste is better for single target situations, who plays Combat on single target fights? Sub or Assa will be much better dps on single target raid fights.

To the question about multistrike vs haste. The reason most go for multistrike, is because it fits well with subtlety and they only use combat on multitarget fights. If you want to go combat for all fights, even though it'll decrease your dps considerably on some fights, then it is more consistent to go with haste.

The real reason I came here, is because I've seen way too many rogues use Crimson tempest as combat, way too freely. It pains me to see every time, and even worse that FieryDemise allegedly approved of this guide, a theorycrafter that I respect a lot. If you check warcraftlogs.com, then you don't see combat rogues use crimson tempest. I haven't found one of the top performing ones do it yet at least, but since this guide told me to do it, I went and did some ingame testing and math.

Before we even begin, you tell us to 'maintain the CT DoT' at 2-4 targets. CT's dot works differently than normal dots. You can do 2 CT's right after each other with the help of Marked for Death, and no bleed damage will be lost, meaning there is no difference between spamming CT or trying to only use it when the dot has run out. This shows a lack of understanding of CT, and I'm honestly really disappointed in you, took me a minute to test.
When it comes to how many targets should be present to use CT over Evi, my testing found it to be at 8+ targets. Before that, eviscerate did better. If the enemies die before the last tick, then you need 52+ enemies before it surpasses Evi, and with 2 lost ticks, Eviscerate pulls ahead.
The numbers I used came from training dummy testing, and should be quite precise, as the difference in dmg for each cast was usually nothing or 1 dmg. Even if you doubt the numbers being precise, 8+ targets is so significantly different than the guide and it's 2+ targets, so something is clearly wrong.
The testing was done without the class trinket btw, which makes Eviscerate pull ahead so much it's not even close anymore. About that, how come you haven't mentioned the BiS trinket and it's effect on the multi target rotation? Seems like an oversight.

While reading the guide, I also noticed that it tells ppl to refresh revealing strike constantly. This is a dps loss. RS only affects finishers and SS, meaning there's no reason to have it up if you're not using any of those abilities. In most cases it's a dps gain to let it run out, make sure to use as much energy as possible before it does, then wait for your energy to regen, get close to capped then continue with your rotation, refreshing the RS. This may lead to less RS used in a fight, without any loss in efficiency. You should not lose a deep insight evis by waiting to refresh it though, but in pretty much all other situations it'll be a dps increase.

You also claim that it's not worth saving cd's for insight, which I agree with mostly, but not when you're in yellow insight, and close to red. going from yellow to red is a 25% dmg increase for Killing Spree, which is substantial. Assuming 40 sec cd on KS (Taken from your guide, as the lowest mentioned possible cd, I haven't checked this myself), then you can wait up to 10 seconds with using it, if it means you get into red insight. Make sure to not use any eviscerates while waiting though, as that counts as 10 seconds alone.

Methinks that with T18 set bonus you should use Killing Spree while Adrenaline Rush is on, because it makes 15% more damage then.

Im playing rogue assa in cata classic and after read some guide I don't understand some things about stats.
I know as a rogue assa I have to priories hit rating until the spell hit cap of 17% (1332 if I remember) but i dont understand how to manage other stats like mastery and haste/crit or expertise.
Did I have to put full mastery ? and reforge all the crit chance, expertise and reforge haste at least ? Or did I have to balance mastery and haste ?
Can someone help me to understand in wich ordre and priority I have to manage stats as Assa Rogue in wow cata classic ?

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
