Dragonflight 10.1.5 Raid DPS Log Rankings for Aberrus: Day 1

Recommended Posts

Here we are at the dawn of a new patch and meta. We'll be taking a look at some EXTREMELY PRELIMINARY logs, just to get a feel for what might be happening later in the full week's overview. We call these "day 1 logs" as we want to have both NA and EU guilds get at least a full day's raiding in to contribute, in case you were wondering about our ability to tell time.

Augmentation's Mess

There's also the matter of the new spec and how it will be contributing. Augmentation Evokers don't do damage themselves, but instead enhance other specs to do so. Warcraft Logs has developed a way to track that granted DPS and log it as the Augmenter's own! It's not perfect yet and doesn't quite calculate all the benefits given, but it's really cool we get to see their own numbers. So don't be surprised if you see them around the bottom, as they aren't fully calibrated yet.

This lack of calibration is also reflected in the logs of the other specs as well, so they're even more preliminary/unstable than usual!

Mythic

Overall Damage 95th Percentile

The chart leaves little room for discussion, as Fire is extremely ahead of everyone. Unholy and Demonology are also outperforming the rest, but all the non-Fire top specs are quite close. It's pretty obvious what's happening here, as at least Fire, UH and Demo are getting most of the Augmentation Evoker buffs, and skyrocketing ahead of everyone else. But not only that, the buffs themselves are giving an even bigger-seeming advantage in the logs than they actually are, as our Mage guide writer Dutchmagoz explains:

First of all, Fire is performing well. However it is inflated on logs for a couple of reasons:

  • The attribution of Augmentation Evokers is not properly being recorded. One pretty big example is Ignite Ignite. Any damage buffed by Evokers is not counting the additional Ignite damage. Compare for example your logs to in-game damage meters like Details. You will see that Ignite damage is always the same between logs and the DPS meter, even though Evokers are buffing Ignite by a significant amount which should count for the Evoker's damage, not the Mage's.
  • There are many other attribution issues, e.g. the way logs are handling spells with guaranteed critical strikes, the mastery buffs, and various other complex issues. Current logs with Evokers in them are anything between like 5-15% off.
  • The damage buffs from Evokers have pretty big ranges, which further compound the above issues.

Due to those above issues, any Fire Mage being buffed by an Augment Evoker is logging higher than they should (and the Evoker in turn is logging lower than they should), which frankly is every single Fire Mage in the top logs, but even in most lower logs.

We don't know which other spec got some Evoker love, as Affliction and Frost DK are pretty high up too, so they may have as well. Devastation and Enhancement are also good targets, and we can see that having a big effect on Enh, but Deva may not have gotten the buffs in these early runs, considering it's somewhat lower position. It's also possible the really good Devastation players went and switched to the new spec. And so Augmentation is pushing everyone into the very top slots, but as we mentioned before, it's not getting its full credit. We find it down in the bottom 3, joining Survival and Retribution.

A lot of Warlocks in the top 10, almost all of them, in fact, as both they and two Mages having 2 specs in there with the third just outside! Shamans are in a good spot as well, and we only see one Rogue down in 11th. Obviously and especially for the high percentiles, this is all very much in-flux, as not all top guilds have even played yet, so stay tuned for the full weekly summary.

Overall Damage All Percentiles

Th generalist bracket is a little different, except for the No.1 augment receiver, Fire. Affliction pushes its way past Demo and Subtletly surges quite a bit compared to the top percentiles. Frost DK is another anomaly here as it's doing much better than its counterpart, perhaps due to Unholy not getting as much of a boost as in the higher percentiles. Shadow manages to push into the last top 10 spot, while Augmentation is just generally last.

Boss Only Damage All Percentiles

The boss damage chars are surprisingly similar to the overall ones, with the only real outlier being Assassination down in 9th. Meanwhile it's all Warlocks and Mages, with a splash of DK all over the place!

Heroic

Arcane manages to hang on in Heroic, but Fire is right there breathing down its neck. Marksmanship is a very fresh new face compared to Mythic, and Feral is also flying high in the lower difficulty.

how long until they rework Augmentation cause no one is going to play it seeing it at the bottom of dps charts not realizing it's a support class. I give it till 10.3

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
