Blizzard have posted the dev notes for the first Wrath Classic 3.4.3 PTR build. We have ICC, the new dungeons, class tuning, the Shadowmourne quest, a new collections interface and even known issues listed below.

In addition to Icecrown Citadel, we have several other features which will soon become testable, and others that will arrive in a future PTR update.

Icecrown Citadel Raid

Testing begins at 23:00 CEST. The raid will close at 23:00 CEST on Friday, September 1.

  • Icecrown Citadel is the final major raid in Wrath of the Lich King Classic and has twelve bosses spread across five different wings.
    • The Lower Spire
      • Lord Morrowgar
      • Lady Deathwhisper
      • Gunship Battle
      • Deathbringer Saurfang
    • The Plagueworks
      • Festergut
      • Rotface
      • Professor Putricide
    • The Crimson Hall
      • Blood Prince Council
      • Blood-Queen Lana’thel
    • The Frostwing Halls
      • Valithria Dreamwalker
      • Sindragosa
    • The Frozen Throne
      • Arthas Menethil, the Lich King
  • Each wing is fully unlocked for testing on both Normal and Heroic mode.
  • Additional adjustments:
    • Similar to Trial of the Grand Crusader, the Heroic mode of Icecrown Citadel has a finite number of attempts. When a raid group runs out of attempts, they will be forced to flee and will not be able to engage in any additional attempts that week.
      • Currently, this number is set to 50 attempts across the entire raid, matching the final state of the attempts counter in patch 3.3.5.
    • Additionally, there will be no restriction or gating to prevent access to later wings of the raid, and all will be fully unlocked at launch.
  • PTR Gear Vendors
    • For the first round of PTR testing, we have not updated the PTR gear vendors with gear from Trial of the Crusader and Trial of the Grand Crusader. This is deliberate.
    • If you wish to test Icecrown Citadel, we suggest you utilize the character copy button on the character select screen copy your character from live realms, and utilize your current gear. It is important to us that players and raid groups use their own gear for this test, to help us establish a realistic baseline for how raid groups will perform in this content when it is released.
    • We will test the ICC raid again after this initial test, and we may update the gear vendors with additional gear if we are satisfied with the data we obtained from this first test.

Shadowmourne Legendary Quest

  • The Shadowmourne legendary weapon quest chain has seen several major adjustments:
    • Shadowfrost Shards will no longer require that a player in your raid group to have advanced to the quest “The Splintered Throne” in order to drop.
    • The drop rate of Shadowfrost Shards on 25 player normal have been adjusted to match the drop rates of 25 player heroic.
    • The “End” boss of each wing (Saurfang, Lana’thel, Putricide, Sindragosa, and The Lich King) will now always drop a single guaranteed Shadowfrost Shard on both 25-player Normal and Heroic difficulties.
    • Primordial Saronite will be more obtainable as well and will be purchasable from both the Emblem of Frost vendor as well with a new currency gained in Titan Rune Dungeon: Gamma Protocol dungeons. We’ll be sharing more information about Defense Protocol Gamma and its reward structure very soon, so stay tuned for those updates!
      • Developer’s Note: There’s a large opportunity cost to obtaining Primordial Saronite early on as many guilds may opt to funnel all of their Primoridal Saronite to would-be Shadowmourne Wielders. Primordial Saronite is also the main ingredient for many new crafting recipes and obtaining the Primordial Saronite for said crafts will be very difficult early on, leading to a situation where by the time the guild is ready to give out Primordial Saronite for non-Shadowmourne Crafts, the items that can be made with this material are much less relevant. Giving an alternative method to obtain this resource made sense in this regard.

The intent of these changes is to accelerate the acquisition of Shadowmourne significantly. The original Icecrown Citadel raid tier lasted over 11 months in 2009/2010 and while the Icecrown Citadel raid tier in Wrath Classic will last a good long while, we felt it was important to allow Shadowmourne to be enjoyed by more people while the content is still current. In the original game Shadowmourne could take anywhere from 18-24 weeks to complete and similar to our adjustments to Val’anyr, Hammer of the Ancient Kings, we felt that we wanted to err on the side of fun here rather than creating a situation where guilds may only be able to complete a very small number of Shadowmournes before the next major content update. We expect with these changes the time needed to complete Shadowmourne should be closer to 8-10 weeks. Please note that these adjustments are not final, and we may opt to increase or reduce the rate of acquisition, or make other adjustments as needed.

New Dungeons – The Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron, and Halls of Reflection

  • All three dungeons are available for testing now and can be found on the upper balcony of Icecrown Citadel, in Icecrown.
  • By default, the Heroic version of these dungeons will benefit from the additional rewards from Titan Rune Dungeons: Defense Protocol Gamma but will see no additional mechanics or difficulty adjustments as other dungeons are getting in Defense Protocol Gamma.
    • Developer’s Note: These three dungeons are some of our favorite content from Wrath of the Lich King, and we were concerned that if we added additional mechanics to these dungeons from Defense Protocol Gamma, many players may never get to experience this content in its’ original Wrath of the Lich King iteration. Most other Wrath of the Lich King dungeons were available in their original form during the first phase of Wrath Classic had their time to shine before Titan Rune Dungeons were introduced in patch 3.4.1, but as these dungeons are only just now becoming available and are themselves a step-up in difficulty over normal heroics, we felt it was important to protect the original 2009 experience here. We will publish more information discussing Defense Protocol Gamma and how these three dungeons fit into the Wrath Classic patch 3.4.3 endgame content in the coming weeks.

New Collections User Interface

  • A new collections interface has been added to Wrath of the Lich King Classic to gather Pets, Mounts, and Heirloom items into one convenient location.
  • Most pets, mounts, and heirloom items are also now account-wide.
  • You will find the collections UI in your micro bar here:

Please note that in order to access your heirlooms in your collections UI, you will need to log into the game world with whichever characters have your existing heirloom items. Simply logging in will automatically add them to your collections for your account.

Please note that account data on PTR may not always be perfectly indicative of your account data on live realms, so you may find yourself missing mounts or pets you feel like you should have. The best bet is to copy all of your characters with unique pets, mounts, or heirlooms to PTR and log into each of them at least once to ensure that those collections items are added to your collections interface.

Class Adjustments

  • Hunter - A new skill has been added for Hunters: Trap Launcher: Explosive Trap.
    • This skill can be trained at any Hunter class trainer and is available to all specs.
    • This new skill is not usable in PvP Arenas or Battlegrounds.
      • Developers’ notes: Due to the fickle nature of Explosive Trap’s hit detection in PvE content, particularly against large or sessile creatures, Hunter DPS tends to fluctuate wildly depending less on player skill and agency and more on boss positioning and an element of luck as to whether or not certain bosses consistently trigger traps. With this adjustment we hope to make it slightly easier to position traps in a position where they will detonate, without impacting a Hunter’s performance in PvP.
  • Druid/Priest/Shaman – The Wild Growth, Circle of Healing, Ancestral Healing, and Divine Hymn spells have been adjusted to favor players over pets and guardians.
    • With this adjustment, these “smart heal” spells will still attempt to heal pets that are very dangerously low on health, but in general this spell will favor players that are missing health first.
  • Warlock – Reduced the internal cooldown of Demonic Pact from 5 seconds to 1 seconds.
    • Optimal play for Demonolgy warlocks is currently to wait several seconds to send their pet into combat while waiting for trinkets and other spellpower-increasing procs to occur, to prevent from locking yourself out of a higher snapshot of spell damage that occur a few seconds after you pet’s initial Demonic Pact proc. This adjustment is merely meant to slightly smooth out optimal usage of Demonic Pact and to allow demonology warlocks to send in their pets into combat a bit faster.
  • Warlock – Demonic Pact will now always be 10% of the Warlock’s spell power.
  • Warlock – Summon Infernal’s cooldown will now reset on encounter end events, similar to other long cooldowns in Wrath Classic.

Known Issues

  • Please be advised that the LFG tool is not functional in this PTR build. We are working to update the group finder tools for this patch and as a result, the previous iteration of the LFG tool is no longer functional but has not yet been replaced with the new iteration.
  • There are several interface errors that may appear on login and during gameplay.
  • The Argent Crusade NPCs, camps, and Battering Ram have not yet arrived at the entrance to Icecrown Citadel. We expect them to appear in a future PTR update.
  • There are several issues with the RP scenes that play after the Deathbringer Saurfang encounter.
  • The Flesh Eating Insect swarm trap outside of Professor Putricide room must be triggered and cleared twice before the door to Putricide’s room will open.
  • The Frostwing Welp packs leading up to Sindragosa have multiple animation issues and may float when dead.
  • The visual effects for Sindragosa’s Frost Bomb and Blistering Cold abilities are not the correct size.
  • Sindragosa’s Tail Swipe ability doesn’t properly knock players down and immobilize them.
  • Players can see their own Frenized Bloodthirst target “blood drop” visual effect on them during the Blood Queen Lana’thel encounter, even when they do no themselves have the Frenzied Bloodthirst debuff

Blizzard has announced they reduced the costs of Wrath Classic PvP gear by 66%, due to lower Honor gains during the Cataclysm pre-patch.
      PvP Gear (Source)
A few minutes ago, we significantly reduced the cost of all Honor and Arena gear from Wrath of the Lich King.
This is intended to better match the lower Honor gains players are seeing while at level 80, compared to level 85.
Specifically, we reduced the cost of everything across the board by about 66%.

Blizzard announced free character moves for Wrath Classic in preparation for the launch of Cataclysm Classic.
      (Source)
      Hey all,
In preparation for the launch of Cataclysm Classic, we will be closing our low-population realms. To prepare for this we are going to be opening Free Character Moves from these realms to other, higher population realms. We are also going to be utilizing the technology introduced recently in Season of Discovery to allow each of our destination realms to hold a far higher number of players than was previously possible.

If you are currently playing on one of the source realms, we’d encourage you to make preparations to move as soon as you are able to do so. We will be moving all remaining characters on these realms to a new destination at some point after the launch of Cataclysm Classic. Moving your character before launch will allow you to have a choice of where you end up, so we’d encourage you to do so as soon as possible.

We have the announcement of the Cataclysm Classic pre-patch, which features increased dungeon drops and changes to Gamma dungeons, as well as buffs to legendary material drops and more.
      Cataclysm Classic Pre-Patch (Source)
Get increased dungeon drops in Wrath of the Lich King Classic and take part in the UPrising of gnomes and trolls as they work to reclaim their homelands. Alliance players will heed the call of High Tinker Mekkatorque in Operation Gnomeregan and members of the Horde will be called to Vol’jin’s side as he set his sights on Zalazane and the Echo Isles.
Join their causes and represent your faction with pride during these events!
      Get Increased Dungeon Drops
To celebrate the launch of Operation Gnomeregan and Zalazane's Fall and the coming of Cataclysm Classic, we've made several limited-time adjustments to Defense Protocol: Gamma dungeons as well as the acquisition rate of Heroic tier tokens in 25-player Icecrown Citadel. There are also additional limited-time adjustments to the acquisition rates of Fragments of Val'anyr and Shadowfrost Shards in Ulduar and Icecrown Citadel, respectively.  All Defense Protocol Gamma bosses now drop 2 Defiler's Scourgestones (up from 1.) Here are the changes players can expect:
All Icecrown Citadel 25-player Normal and Heroic bosses are now guaranteed to drop 1 Shadowfrost Shard. All Icecrown Citadel 25-player Normal and Heroic end wing bosses and The Lich King now drop 2 guaranteed Shadowfrost Shards (up from 1.) All Icecrown Citadel 25-player Heroic end wing bosses now drop one additional Heroic tier token. The Lich King now drops 2 additional Heroic tier tokens on 25-player Heroic difficulty. All "Hard Mode" encounters in the 25-player version of Ulduar are now guaranteed to drop 1 Fragment of Val'anyr. Please note that Algalon and "Zero Light" Yogg-Saron are unchanged and drop the same number of Fragments as they did previously as they were already very generous with their Fragment drops. These changes will take effect with each region's regularly occurring maintenance beginning the week of March 26 and will remain in place until the end of the Cataclysm Classic pre-patch period. Alliance: Operation Gnomeregan
With confirmation of the impending attack upon Gnomeregan comes your chance to get involved. Victory begins in Tinker Town! As great citizens of Azeroth and proud members of the Alliance, High Tinker Mekkatorque shall call upon you to serve his gnomes in exile. After all, the best offense is a good... offense! Whether you're a hero of your people and slayer of the most dreadful Burning Legion and Scourge creatures, or an up-and-coming adventurer, you can start by motivating your gnome brethren to unite behind the Gnomeregan banner. All it takes is a bit of finesse with the Motivate-a-Tron to call gnomes to action. The device works flawlessly! After all, what good would it be if such a powerful invention ended up turning Tinker Town citizens into little critters? Almost no good!
With fresh new recruits at your side, Mekkatorque will send you to Steelgrill's Depot, the staging grounds for the Gnomeregan offensive, where you'll meet Captain Sparknozzle. Do as he commands by completing Drill Sergeant Steamcrank's training and testing the operative capabilities of the brand new Mechano-Tanks before they're shipped to the front lines. Seizing Gnomeregan is more important than your fear of heights, which will be put to the test as you're summoned by Pilot Muzzlesprock to neutralize the irradiation vents bruising the Gnomeregan horizon in a critical Radiageigatron bombing run.
Every hero is called to serve! Even if you're just barely getting your bearings on the art of combat in places like Kharanos or Elwynn Forest, you can do your part by helping fuel the war effort. A few dead boars lead to a few more comfortable siege pilot seats, and surely you can handle such a crucial step in the preparation for facing Thermaplugg's poisoned followers. You can even help master wordsmith Toby Zeigear in writing High Tinker Mekkatorque's battle cry. The road to success will be paved by you, and you'll be rewarded as such with a commendation of Gnomeregan Pride, allowing you to temporarily don the uniform of the elite Gnomeregan Infantry.
Thermaplugg is no trifling gnome, though his arrogance will be his undoing! Even still, he is undoubtedly preparing never-before-seen forces to meet this assault. Only the most battle-hardened heroes of the Alliance (levels 75-80) will be called to serve during Operation: Gnomeregan. When Mekkatorque determines the operation is ready to get underway, you must speak with him on the front lines before following him on a full assault of the enemy airfield, surface command post, and into the tunnels of lower Gnomeregan. It is said that Thermaplugg has employed the use of so-called "Brag"-bots to spread his propaganda and hubris. Be not afraid of his words, fellow members of the Alliance. Stick with Mekkatorque and Doc Cogspin to ensure your safety. After all, you wouldn't want to lose the grace of Cogspin's Surgeon General's Warding. Gnomeregan must be cleansed of irradiation and the troggs it was intended to repel. It is time to reclaim this modern marvel and earn your very own Gnomeregan Overcloak, a testament to your historic bravery in the face of madness!
Operation: Gnomeregan is coming, and Gnomeregan needs YOU!
      Horde: Zalazane’s Fall
      "Zalazane Must Fall!" Cries Vol'jin.
Embedded on the coast of Durotar, the tiny troll Village of Sen'jin is bursting with recent activity. In what some claim is a retort to the overblown assertions of the vertically-challenged High Tinker Mekkatorque, troll chieftain Vol'jin has announced his intention to honor the ancestors and take back the troll homeland. The call has been given, and the scattered Darkspear tribe has begun to gather at the once-sleepy location. Now the primal rhythm of beating drums and strange clouds of acrid smoke drift aloft deep into the night, arguably a sign of celebration and preparation for an impending offensive.
With the full support of Thrall and his counterparts, Vol'jin is calling upon all factions of the Horde to prepare for an assault on Echo Isles and the twisted witch doctor Zalazane. He will pay for his crimes against the Darkspears and the land bestowed upon them by Thrall! As explained by Vol'jin in the demand for Zalazane's fall today, honorable members of the Horde passing through the village proper -- whether they've never slain a boar in their lives or are the subject of every dragon's nightmare -- will be given a chance to help their upstanding troll brothers in what will surely be the most brutal of attacks. But first there must be preparation. With the Echo Isles on the line, no detail is too small, no spoken word too trivial. And for that reason the noted troll shaman, Vanira, will get adventurers started on the monumental tasks ahead.
Using sacred totemic rituals, Vanira needs frogs for her agenda. It is unclear of her exact intentions with these amphibious lurkers of Sen'jin, but there appears to be a bat handler standing by. Could it be that frogs will soon rain down from the heavens upon the Echo Isles? When asked for further comment, Vanira only remarked that she's seeking "da perfect spies." It seems war is sometimes won with even the most unlikely of arsenals. Spying on the enemy, however, is only the beginning. Vol'jin has spoken of a most-trusted trainer of reinforcements, Champion Uru'zin, who will guide new recruits of all ranges of experience into battle-hardened Darkspear warriors. "Trollin' for volunteers," as Vol'jin remarked, will be a key component to building a strike force capable of overthrowing Zalazane's hexed Darkspears.
Vol'jin argues that the spirits are on the side of his Darkspear tribe. Can animistic beliefs truly manifest into proven battle leverage against Zalazane? Perhaps only Vanira and her beguiled spies can answer this. But it is rumored that, long ago, a tribe of troll druids once called the Echo Isles home. If ever there was a time for good omens such as this, it is now. Only if the spirits truly are on the side of the son of Sen'jin, reportedly only a phenomenon that Witch Doctor Hez'tok can decipher, then the assault will commence! Those who assist Hez'tok in his ceremony will be adorned with Darkspear Pride, allowing adventurers the ability to take on the form of an elite Darkspear Warrior during battle. Wearing such battle garb is an honor to the ancestors of a people long persecuted and plagued by war between tribes.
Should the spirits give their blessing to Vol'jin, Champion Uru'zin will call for all seasoned veterans of the Horde levels 75-80 to aid in the attack. If "at last, everythin' be ready," as Vol'jin put it, his plan is to launch a full assault from the shores of Sen'jin village. Vol'jin has also gone so far as to offer a particularly rare Sen'jin Overcloak to those who help bring Zalazane down.
Preparations for Zalazane's fall are underway, but will it be enough to best this witch doctor? It's time, proud members of the Horde, to stand with your disaffected troll brethren and recognize the full might of the Darkspear tribe!

We have more rewards from the Plunderstorm to take a look at, as Wrath/Cataclysm Classic players have a new pet and mount to look forward to! MrGM did some more digging and found Pinchy and Polly Roger would be available in Wrath Classic (we won't give away which is which, it's a complex mystery!)
So just how much Renown will you need to get in 10.2.6's new event for these Classic rewards? Well, pretty much all of them, as the mount is all the way down at Renown 39, out of 40. The pet is earlier on the track, so if you don't want a flying parrot you'll only need to get to rank 11.
The pet and mount are the same as their Dragonflight counterparts.

Blizzard is adding teleports to Shadowfang Keep for both Horde and Alliance in Wrath Classic, for the Love is in the Air event. The NPCs are the ones in faction capitals for the event.
      SFK (Source)
We’ve had enough of traveling to Shadowfang Keep.
With a hotfix that will go live to all realms soon, Inspector Snip Snagglebolt and Detective Snap Snagglebolt will begin offering free Shadowfang Keep teleports to Alliance and Horde players respectively.
Just talk to them to get underway.
