Berlinia 168 Report post Posted October 27, 2014 Hello magi,Going into warlords and mythic raiding, there are a lot of things to be done. Guides to be written, guides to be updated and more. Ever since june last year I wanted to make a guide for one's UI, as generally most of the problems people have whilst trying to dps is a bad UI. However when I set myself to the task I realized it was pointless. There are SOOO many different things one can do while making their UI so it was too much work to analyze them all. What I can do however is create a place where people can post their UI's and receive input on what to change. If you do decide to post, just show your in combat UI with ALL weakauras/TMW's enabled. This is purely an experiment and people might not benefit from it! Time will tell.CheersBerlinia
Ryoishi 7 Report post Posted October 28, 2014 Okay, this is a stupid question, but how do I upload a screencap to here? Or, add things to 'My Media' so I can post it from there?

Ryoishi 7 Report post Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) Won't let me use the add image button so:Berlinia: Fixed that for you! The action bars may make no sense, but i use a Logitech G13 gamepad, so they make sense to me Edited October 28, 2014 by Berlinia
Berlinia 168 Report post Posted October 28, 2014 Hey Ryoshi,Nice UI! However a couple of questions:a)You show Nether Tempest twice, once as an aura bar and once as a debuff. It would save some space to use only one. b)You make use of aura bars. I have found it better to use weakauras to show important buffs/debuffs because you can show what you want to and it's faster seeing an Icon with its cooldown rather than reading a bar. Also when a lot of shit procs, your aura bars can start covering a big part of your screen which I personally find terribly annoying. Absolutely love your AC and Mana setup!CheersBerlinia
Ryoishi 7 Report post Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) Hey Berlinia! /salute I would love to get rid of the icons, and just use the bars, that works for me, as I find it easier to keep an eye on a text bar rather than trying to remember icons in the heat of wipes battle. Unfortunately, I don't know how to stop Elv showing the icons as well as the bars. Since that screen was taken, I've made my unit frames, and thus the aura bars, transparent. I've also gotten rid of the bar above my two main action bars. It stuck out like a sore thumb, everything on that has been moved (or removed from the game) so it's a lot tidier now. Having the mana/AC bars right there in the middle makes tracking them easy to keep track of, don't even have to move my eyes I've also moved the player and target UF's down, to make more room in the middle of the screen, and when I remember, I'll shove MSBT off to the side. Let me also say, mouse over action bars are the best for random stuff you don't use a lot. Now, if I may impose, how might I ban-hammer the aura icons, and maybe move the bars a bit lower to the actual unit frame? Many thanks in advance, Ryo Edit: When the Oceanic servers are back up (or should I say 'Up' since we are finally getting dedicated Aussie servers?) I'll take an updated screenshot. And no doubt a few more after that, since I can't leave things alone >.> Edited October 28, 2014 by Ryoishi
Orthios 271 Report post Posted October 28, 2014 Gah, I see General in the thread title and think "Hey, a post your UI thread, lets go find a semi-decent ss of mine!" only to realize that this is the mage section and my mage is left at level 16(?) on some realm that I haven't checked in who-knows-how-long.
Berlinia 168 Report post Posted October 28, 2014 I don't get it o.O You have the option to play a mage and you play something else? What is this? What is going on? Why does my guild have less than 300 mages?

Why does my guild have less than 300 mages? A) Because I like my hunter too much (I haven't played either of my other 90 alts since the patch either lol), and B) he's on another realm and I can't be bothered to change :P

Archimage 98 Report post Posted October 30, 2014 Okay, here is a shot in the dark 1440x900 Now here is my reasons for having it so: 1. I'm trying to only have 25% of the screen covered in UI so I can see more whats going on. 2. WA2 cooldown icons near cast bar for a quick glimse, also have button glow for the spells. WA2 icons will be added later to indicate procs and duration when I reach level 100 and gear. 3. Focus just above target frame and just left of Boss/Arena frames for easy access. Berlinia 168 Report post Posted October 30, 2014 Where do you see your trinket procs? Also you can go: System, Advanced, check the UI scale box and you can scale your UI down!
TLTeo 29 Report post Posted December 1, 2014 Currently using this; basically the idea is to stay as close to the default UI as possible (i really hate when a patch breaks everything) while still having something that's actually usable. The only thing i haven't added yet is monitoring trinket procs (and possibly icd's), any suggestions?

TLTeo 29 Report post Posted December 1, 2014 Really nice! Working with a small screen is really tough, i played on a 1280x1024 screen well into Cata, and fitting everything on the screen was a huge pain in the ass. Good job :)

tapif 10 Report post Posted January 29, 2015 I am looking for a nice way to track my incanter flow buff.Preferably something rather big, as i don't pays that much attention to small numbers, and, even better, maybe a bar that would be full at 5 charges and empty at 0 charge. Do yo have any suggestion for that? :)

Do yo have any suggestion for that? Well, I have a weakauras, that displays the icon of IF,and a huge number in the middle of it. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to make something like that as a bar. :)
