New 10.2 Book Hints at Patch 11.0 Expansion?

A new book discovered by Ursoc on the 10.2 PTR tells a story of a dragon named "Erinethria" and her bold adventures "Beyond the Storming Sea", possibly hinting at Patch 11.0 and the next WoW expansion.

The book has 9 pages and here's the full transcript:

Transcript

1

In the days when the kingdom of dragons was young, brave Erinethria's emerald wings soared above the clouds.

The fastest flier of her day, she feared no enemy. Nor would she back down from any challenge.

Alas, her courage would be her undoing.

2

Erinethria had flown to the far corners of Kalimdor and back. She had witnessed wondrous sights, and loved to share stories of them with her kin.

Yet there came a day when Erinethria felt she had seen all there was to see of the world. She grew bored. Restless.

3

Erinethria sought the wisdom of Keeper Tyr.

"Great keeper, is there any mystery left for me to discover? Any riddle yet to be solved?"

"Everything you need is here, child. What more could you want to see? What else could you seek to know?"

4

As the dragon's brow furrowed, a cool wind blew in from the west.

"The breeze, great keeper. I wish to see the place from whence the winds are born."

Tyr grew solemn. "Beyond the Storming Sea lies only ruin. Stay close to home. Stay close to kin."

5

Tyr's warning hung like a shadow over Erinethria's heart. It clashed again and again with her deep yearning for answers.

One bright morning, the green dragons bid farewell to her clutchmates.

"Fear not," she told them, "for I can fly higher than any storm. Faster than any thunder. and when I know from whence the west winds come, I shall return home and tell you all!"

6

And with that, Erinethria soared into the sky.

Moons passed. And still more. Yet brave Erinethria did not return.

Even Ysera woke from her dreaming to aid in the search. But there was no sign to be found.

7

Most believed that Erinethria was lost to the Storming Sea. That her nightly wings grew tired and torn by the harsh winds, and that she tumbled into the roiling waters.

But some greens claimed that they saw her in their dreams. That she reached a land beyond, where she raised a brood of her own.

8

Surely after all these ages, we must accept the truth of her loss. While we honor her courage, we must remember the wisdom she failed to heed.

Beyond the Storming Sea lies only ruin. Stay close to home. Stay close to kin.

9

Beware, beware, the wind from the west. Its call holds only doom,

For if you take wings across storm and sea,

You shall share Erinethria's tomb.

Summary

The book tells a story of a green dragon named Erinethria, famed for her unparalleled flying skills and bravery. Having explored vast expanses of Kalimdor, she still yearned for more. Despite Keeper Tyr's warnings against venturing beyond the Storming Sea, her curiosity led her to seek the source of the west winds.

Sadly, she never returned after her departure. While most believed she perished in the Storming Seas, some dreamt of her in distant lands. The tale ends with a cautionary reminder of the perilous call of the western winds and the importance of listening to advice.

"Beware, beware, the winds from the west. Its call holds only doom."

So far, we know the Patch 11.0 Heroic Edition pre-order mount is called Algarian Stomrider and we expect Blizzard to reveal the next expansion at BlizzCon 2023.

Arya Stark 2.0. But I still love the idea of a giant completely unexplored continent on the planet filled with dragons, wonders and treasures.

Based on the other datamining it seems obvious that Stormridingᵀᴹ is gonna be dragonriding 2.0

But this line here:

But some greens claimed that they saw her in their dreams. That she reached a land beyond, where she raised a brood of her own.

Could this mean that the way we start the expansion is by travelling through the emerald dream to this new (part of the) world? We meet someone from her brood. Or maybe its time for Malfurion to shine again? And then we gather an expedition similar to dragon isles to follow through the storm

This line here makes me think that someone is going to reach the new place through the Emerald Dream (Malfurion?) and then we are going to gather an expedition similar to Dragon Isles and fly through the storm to "save" them

When you've already hidden not one but two continents with an enchanted fog, you use an enchanted storm I guess XD

They really like to reuse this idea of "hidden or imprisoned for the last 10,000 years!". There was also Illidan, Suramar and more. No one will be surprised to see another continent being revealed, but it's weird how they remain hidden. No one tried to sail or fly through there? It's also funny how all these long forgotten places are getting revealed now, thousands of years and nothing! Now, within a decade or so, everything is getting revealed.

I guess defeating the legion twice , the old gods, the lich king, the elemental lords, deathwing and ending the faction war 4 times in those 15 or so years really freed up their time for exploring

Exactly, but between Sundering and now over 10,000 years have passed. Yet for most of that time majority of people thought there were only Eastern Kingdoms, Northrend and Kalimdor on Azeroth! There was a lot of time for exploring before crazy invasions started happening every year or two.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
