World of Magecraft: A look back.

Recommended Posts

As MoP draws to a close, and we are merrily blinking around doing nothing, lets have a look back at Mages and magecraft over the years.

What was your favourite moment as a mage? The worst? Why did you roll mage in the first place?

You don't need to write an essay, just a few thoughts will suffice :)

For me, mage was my first class that I leveled all the way to 90. I started playing WoW in very late WotLK, about a week before Cata dropped in fact. What drew me to mages was that, to me, they are the archetypical fantasy caster, the high powered mystical being capable of levelling whole swathes of foes with a single word.

A cookies of course. Who doesn't like cookies?

My favourite moment....probably the first time I teleported myself to Ancient Dalaran...

"Hey what's this do?.......ARGH" *splat*

The worst for me was probably when I finally got to 90 and realised that the work was only just beginning....

My favourite is probably when i first levelled 1-70 (i was like 54 when TBC was released). My mage has always been my only main, and will be as long as i play this game. That sense of wonder as you play through Azeroth on your very first WoW character is probably the best gaming experience anyone could have tbh.

Other favourite moments are my first Prince and Nightbane kills in Kara, tanking our early Maulgar attempts, and my first LK kill in ICC. Getting Garrosh down was also pretty nice.

Least favourite moment was without a doubt sitting outside Sunwell making muffins for actual raiding characters -.-

I started playing on vanilla when it was released. Started as a rogue, but once my guild started to raid Molten Core, we realized that we had waaaay too many rogues and not enough ranged casters. I've been playing the mage as my main ever since and never looked back. No other class even comes close.

I think you're right - the mage really is the archetypal fantasy caster. Shouldn't surprise anyone that I played a Wizard/Sorceress in Diablo. :)
