The Most Convincing 11.0 Expansion "Leak" So Far

Recommended Posts

dragon-isles.jpg

Many have been surprised by the lack of convincing leaks so close to BlizzCon, but here we go! We've seen some manufactured leaks for WoW's next expansion already, but they've either been just text or your usual new logo varieties (and of course all the AI art ones). However, today we have the first even slightly convincing one.

Avaloren and the Storm Riders

There's no expansion title attached to this one, but it does offer the name of the new continent we'll be exploring: Avaloren. There's no source for any of the images, only those that posted them first, starting with Upset-Setting-501 who added these images to reddit with the title Is this 11.0??.

pnruuBVo6lRQ52AppQVOWeIxTtF-OqeaxLaXrGAh

Avaloren is an actual place already mentioned in the lore. It was talked about in the Uldum: Legacy of Tyr dungeon added in Dragonflight, where a text talks about Odyn sending expeditions there to hunt down "heretics" for their crimes against Keeper Innaria. The second image shows what are presumably the Storm Riders, which is the one solid hint we do have about the expansion, namely a datamined Storm Rider mount and race achievements. The third image is also interesting in that the lamps present there resemble ones from a teaser image for BlizzCon (as spotted by cinamonjackz?

Now, the fact that all these things have some relation to actual facts and already leaked or shared details makes sense both if the leak is real and if it's fabricated. All three images could have been created simply based on these facts we know and lore teases from within the game.

The Expansion Website Laptop Images

Then there's the laptop images (also from an unknown source, but posted on the MMO Champion forums). This one looks like the expansion landing page, but interestingly it's using the "default" Dragonflight zone art as background. Now, this may just be a temporary image and is to get replaced, but it also points to it being fake. The "Mobile ready" part refers to the site page being ready for mobile formats.

The Khaz Algar reference is also one that we're already aware of, also from Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr. This one was more circumstantial, however, as it is only relevant because it refers to a separate race/clan of dwarves, which was linked to the Storm Rider datamining information.

So, actual leak just over a week ahead of BlizzCon or (sort of) convincing fake? If it is a fake someone really went to a fair amount of trouble to make it! Also keep in mind that the two aren't necessarily linked either, as the laptop photo did appear a little after the reddit one.

So the other day, I had a dream about the future WoW expansion (Yeah, I need a life - I know), where I was in a dungeon with a bunch of idiots who blamed me for them standing in crap... the dungeon had vines in it, and one boss with a vine-earthquake/grab kind of thing split in four directions.
They had improved on the visuality of where things will happen (like those vines)

Before DF I dreamt of a dragon scorching the area and fighting it.
___ Soooooo....

Seeing the last picture makes me think "Huh, maybe my brain actually has played too much WoW over these 20 years..."

My single take on what I see here tho besides that is;
It looks boring, bland, uninspired and frankly soulless.
So I am absolutely sure the devs made that, since they have wanted to destroy the soul and original-grounds of WoW and convert it to their Twitter-mentality paradise; which WOMEN (not fruit bowls) like me (and men ofc) quite dislike.

I fell in love with WoW with the Undead in the original trailer, just snuffing out life in a single hand movement.
He looked amazing.

I am glad OG Classic exists so I can choose to play that as well as retail, but I do wish Retail would get the old Metal feeling back and less Twitter-culture.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. 🐈

I see another Azure Span, Frostfire Ridge, Gorgrond and Val'sharath. These zones look rather standard and they overlap too much with existing themes. Also we have classic "picture taken at tilted angle", this reminds me of that fake Shadowlands which had a map of titular Shadowlands, which was nothing like the continent we've got in game (it even had Ny'alotha, it was made before final patch for BfA was revealed and back then people associated it with Shadowlands).

Also nothing about any new playable race or class? These are usually high selling points of expansions, usually those without any of these tend to do worse.

This seems fake, the lack of info/leaks is surprising. Blizz should do something huge- the next x pac coincides with the twentieth anniversary. There are rumors of the Classic x pac as well but not much on that either. We will know soon enough.

Surely the next expansion will see us doing something about that Giant Sword still lodged in Azeroth's gut?

Probably not if it's another "hidden, but suddenly revealed" type of continent.

It's still another suddenly revealed continent, just underground. The Sword has been inert since the Legion, so probably nothing happening with it. What's weird is how they are making identity of that voice a secret, like they couldn't just talk with Magni? Anyway, good thing that Avaloren turned out to be fake, but at least someone had to put some effort into it, unlike other fake leaks.

Yeah I was just shocked that they mentioned the sword and that there's a chance now of actually doing something about it.    I thought there was gonna be a least of decade of pretending it didn't exist and that Silithus itself was a myth.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
