Patch 10.6.2 April Fools Patch Notes

Recommended Posts

The massive and highly expected patch 10.6.2 has been revealed in some leaked patch notes! This is totally real and serious, which becomes obvious from the no class changes due to balance being perfect, to the new underwater raid where you have to go back to the surface for air every few minutes, and, of course, the Season of Mystery, with literally everything getting randomized!

World of Warcraft Patch Notes
Version 10.6.2
April 1, 2024

Producers’ notes: Now that we’ve released a whole patch without any leaks, we can rest assured that we’ve eliminated leaks forever. There’s no way this one will leak. Nope. No chance.

CLASS CHANGES

We’re pleased to announce that, due to the unprecedented state of nearly-perfect balance across all classes in all content, we cannot find any spell or ability that would be better changed than left unchanged. This patch is a celebration of players’ incredible skills in both PvE and PvP, where all are equal and seemingly no class is undesirable.

Thank you very much for bringing about such a wonderful moment!

NEW RAID

Throughout Dragonflight, the adventurers of Azeroth have befriended, tamed, and ridden countless dragons across the skies of the Dragon Isles. Now, the time has finally come to go Dragondiving.

Vault of the Turbinates is a new raid that’s entirely underwater and literally breathtaking! All throughout the raid, you’ll thrill to the constant requirement to keep an eye on your air meter and coordinate with your raid team to go back up to the surface for air every couple of minutes. The all new Dragondiving system gives you five more action buttons to master while you’re down there, including Swim Forward, Surface Ascent, and Do a Little Pirouette. Bosses include Big Fish, Jawws, and the great apex predator philosopher, Shark Plato.

Did you even know these dragons could swim?

NEW DUNGEON

Those wild and crazy bronze dragonflight pranksters are at it again and again, and only you can save them from themselves’ selves in the Recursive Circular Loop. Enter this new old dungeon from anywhere you like, and then head in either direction, because the results are always the same as the last time you did this!

With five different bosses that may turn out to actually only be one boss at five different timepoints, you’ll never run out of challenges that cause dĂ©jĂ  vu, a sense of familiarity, and the uncanny feeling that you recall having done this all before. And thanks to the bronze dragonflight’s presence inside the Recursive Circular Loop, you’ll never run out of challenges that cause dĂ©jĂ  vu, a sense of familiarity, and the uncanny feeling that you recall having done this all before.

PLUNDERSTORM, THE SEQUEL

Coming very soon, we’re releasing a completely non-PvP sequel to Plunderstorm. This event has no PvP whatsoever, and it’s super easy to pick up all the rewards, as they’re just laying on the ground in the relative safety of the starting zones! Look for this relaxing in-game activity on your calendar under the name “Noblegarden”.

FOLLOWER BATTLEGROUNDS ON MOBILE

An exciting new series of battlegrounds for your followers is now available on your mobile device. Download the free app to build armies of all of your favorite Warcraft combatants such as Bat Rider, Gryphon Rider, and Warsong Rider. They’ll do battle all across Azeroth behind the most noble and prominent leaders such as Sneed, Old Murk Eye, and Charlga Razorflank. We’re referring to it as cheery disarray!

SEASON OF DISCOVERY

Coming in the next phase of Season of Discovery, we’re finally taking the original WoW classes back to their true selves with exciting new runes!

Nurse Warrior

  • Disinfective Stance – The warrior takes a cleansing position next to any suffering patients.

  • Furious Sews – Using your battle-tested needle and thread, you stitch wounds back together so fast that it’s a blur.

  • Cold Steel, Hot Blood Donation – As everyone knows, warriors have the best blood and the most blood and they’re always a universal donor to those in need.

  • Massacare – The warrior hits multiple patients really hard with bandages and soft words of encouragement.

  • Rehabilitating Shout – Only a warrior can make physical therapy as loud as it should be.

Lightheaded Paladin

  • Chilllumination – The paladin gets lost in thought and feels much more peaceful than before.
  • Take-a-Breakable Spirit – Your blessings cause all party members to get up and stretch, with a random chance that they’ll have a nice, shared yawn.
  • Relaxing Inquisitor – The paladin’s holy inquiries are delivered with feet up on the desk and hands behind the head, leaning back and making the accused feel 30% less anxiety.
  • Hush of Light – Guarantees that when you open a window blind, your pet cat will trot into the sunshaft and do that thing around your ankle a couple of times.
  • Lay on Your Hands – A spell of last resort when you have no pillow and you really need to just rest your eyes for a little while.

COMING SOON – Season of Mystery

There’s nothing more enjoyable in gaming than randomness, so we’ve taken Original WoW and dialed the uncertainty up to F on a scale of 1-10. The “F” stands for “fun”!

In Season of Mystery, everything you experience will be subject to a hidden roll. How many bear pelts does this quest-giver need? Could be 8. Could be 87! How fast is your mount today? It could be 140% run speed, and it could be 205%, and could be a slow day for horsie. Maybe horsie only goes 50% today. How exciting is that?!

In Season of Mystery, you’ll sometimes kill a murloc and receive a piece of tier 2 raid gear, and you’ll sometimes receive 1 copper, and you’ll sometimes receive an amusing fatal beating. What is this murloc doing in the middle of Stormwind? And why does it look like an alpaca?

The past... 2-3 years of April Fools jokes has been very much about Devs calling players Bad / Whiny in disguise of a "joke".
I can smell which type of devs are writing this, based on these poor "jokes".

I remember when the fools things used to be outrageous and funny, and NOT a dig at the playerbase.

I see they're salty about player reaction to Plunderstorm.  Maybe if they'd marketed it better, we would have liked it more.  Hmm....

These posts are usually funnier.

This just looks like it was written an hour ago because someone dropped the ball on getting it done sooner.

It seems like the overall quality of their April Fools' jokes has declined. 'Member when they used to create whole pages for their jokes? Like their Murloc RPG or some arcade games? I 'member.

I admit, this is a whole step back to what I'm used to. I still remember the pitch black dungeon with nothing to see and who could ever forget the abomination that were the Draenei face changes? I'll forget these notes within 5 minutes, but that image of that Draenei still lives rent-free in my head...

Very glad to see someone remembering the pitch black dark dungeon ' Scarlet Monastery Dungeon ' if not, could been Deadmines. I recall the map showing a Fog of war effect when looking at the map. Pretty much very early MMO champion were the time â˜ș

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
