Dunny 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2014 Warlock are at the bottom of the food chain in wod both in pvp and pve.
Lockybalboa 618 Report post Posted November 21, 2014 Close to the bottom, but still this side of floating. I enjoy a slightly weak class, makes beating everyone else that much sweeter. Demo needs some work, Aff is a total mess, and the prospect of spending ANOTHER tier after I just spent a year of SoO as destro has made me really consider changing classes. But hope remains. I don't feel weak, I feel challenged. Challenge accepted.
Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted November 21, 2014 Does anyone else feel like warlock is weak Holding against other classes. "Weak" is an objective term of which we are not. "Weaker" is a subjective term of which we are. And that's ok - we were very overpowered in MoP. Warlock are at the bottom of the food chain in wod both in pvp and pve. I can't speak fluently about PvP since my limited action is in Ashran farming Alliance coming across that bridge...but in PvE, we are in a good spot. There are quite a few below us in PvE. I don't feel weak, I feel challenged. Challenge accepted. Work it, girl!
Bombsauce 3 Report post Posted November 21, 2014 I've been competing rather well in the daily CM's. They will balance everything. It's been said around here, optimize your play. We are going back to the way it was when you couldn't cast while moving except for instants. A big part of strategizing on a fight as a lock was avoiding 'stand in shit' mechanics while minimizing the distance moved and time spent moving, with the idea that if you increased the amount of damaging spells you could get off, your dps would go up. I remember looking at that stat in logs when analyzing my performance during progression.
Liquidsteel 279 Report post Posted November 21, 2014 Dungeons aren't really indicative of real raid scenarios though, bar the odd encounter here and there. Destruction does well on trash and AoE, and loves getting to shadowburn everything, especially in current gear levels where mobs live long enough to triple havoc shadowburn. Destro is above most ranged in highmaul, just mages are retardedly broken right now. It won't be for long once they nerf RoF though.
Strife 6 Report post Posted November 21, 2014 Destro feels fine, Demo needs the nerfs at least partially reverted, Aff is a fucking train wreck though. It feels clunky as hell now and is designed to be useless on pretty much anything PvE related outside of raids because of the ramp time, nerf to SS, and lack of shards now. Aff needs a major reworking imho. I hate playing Destro though, only used it on 7/14 fights in SoO... give me back Demo at least.
Adrammalech 2 Report post Posted November 21, 2014 (edited) Destro is fine, but I hate casting RoF single target. Scratch that, I hate playing the spec period. Demo is decent in 5 mans, but I fear the day I step into Highmaul and try it on longer fights w/o having pooled fury and MC procs right before the boss. As for Aff, may you rest in peace my friend. Even if they do fix the specs damage, it is boring to play on anything except council fights. Edited November 21, 2014 by Adrammalech
Soulzar 42 Report post Posted November 21, 2014 (edited) Haha, as much as I was excited to Play demo for a tier for change, I do love Destro and how it plays....So I wont be overly upset if Destro ends up being the Boss again. Personally love RoF usage on ST. Edited November 21, 2014 by Soulzar
Copperbad 5 Report post Posted November 22, 2014 RoF on single target feels weird, but at least it looks cool. As destro In 5-mans, I currently see very good numbers unless it's a single-target boss fight or trash dies too fast to havoc Shadowburn. The single-target thing should change once my gearing stabilizes and I get trinkets with better procs. When I "upgraded" out of my SoO gear, going up thirty item levels, my CB burn phase went down by about 30%. Having a wolf and lion-man fight for you is not the same as 4pc/2pc and PBI/KTT. I will play my warlock regardless of what position they're in because I enjoy it. Until I can play the class perfectly I don't need to worry about their 'rank'. Improving things on my end is where results come from.
Gnar 26 Report post Posted November 22, 2014 I don't like that hunters can get a free instant crit of 200k while I can't even get the procs to get Chaos Bolt to budge over 100k. I'm just glad one of our specs is at least still competitive.
Formerglory 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2014 I am currently playing affliction/destro this patch. full 630 gear, average 15k on single target fights in both specs. i feel weak because people in my guild with same ilvl as me are pulling closer to 20k. I'm just glad one of our specs is at least still competitive. Mmmhm, execute for hunters is pretty... broken. (which I assume is what you were talking about) I haven't bothered to level my warlock up yet, but from what I can tell in dungeons on my priest warlocks are sometimes okay, sometimes not. I guess thats depending on the player. We'll see how things shape out in raid. I really hope demo becomes competitive and knocks destro off it's high-horse bc demo is IMHO the more fun spec and I'd love to see it on top again. Never touched aff, never want too. Hope things balance out a bit more for you warlocks tho and you still manage to stay competitive throughout the whole expac. And Locky, I love your attitude! You go and beat all those mages and hunters on the dps meters! :P
HollyC 9 Report post Posted November 23, 2014 I did pretty well doing the Iron Vanguard pre-launch quest line as affliction. I haven't played my warlock since WoD actually launched, but using affliction for questing didn't feel so bad. Yes, it's a damage over TIME spec, and spells need time to tick, but I was killing pretty quick, and drain life along with voidlord (through Grimoire of Supremacy) I was never hurting for health. I'll admit I'm stingy in burning shards and mainly use the big punch (Haunt) when the proc goes off. I know that if I dared tried that in dungeons I'd be kicked before we reached the first boss-- but then again, "fail everyone except me" is exactly why I don't PUG at all. There's something about using affliction in regular questing that just "feels" right for me. I've always been prejudiced against destruction, and I can't truly explain why because I know I never gave the spec a fair shot. I'm the same way with arcane mages and survival hunters. I've never leveled a warrior or rogue to an appreciable level so I have no feelings for or against any of their specs.
Copperbad 5 Report post Posted November 24, 2014 @HollyC Just curious what your item level was doing the Iron vanguard.
HollyC 9 Report post Posted November 24, 2014 It was somewhere around 490. I had a couple of pieces of timeless isle gear and a few pieces of 489 gear from the Battlefield:Barrens event. My robe and goggles were crafted (476). I had a trinket and a ring that were from the Shado-Pan/Golden Lotus vendors (I did the Golden Lotus quest line to completion on several toons before the Vale was nuked in 5.4). I've never been to SoO to this day and don't know what any of it looks like. My shaman saw the first wing of ToT, my warlock never did. I think the furthest she got was LFR Mogu'Shan vaults. I did it once, maybe twice, no more. Again, I have no stomach for "fail everyone except me" so I don't really PUG.
