Moogle-Treasure-Trove.jpg

The beloved Moogle treasure trove event is returning: take part in the Second Hunt for Genesis Tomestones and get your hands on rare Emerald carbuncle earrings, the Gabriel α identification key, and more!

The Moogle Treasure Trove will start on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024, at 1:00 AM (PDT).

to Monday, June 24, 2024, at 7:59 a.m. (PDT). You will be able to collect Irregular tomestones of Genesis II by completing specific duties and exchange them for rare and exclusive items, such as the Emerald Carbuncle Earrings, Ufiti Horn, Gabriel α  Identification Key, and much more!

The event is a great opportunity to enjoy some of the most iconic and memorable content from the past decade of FFXIV.

You will have access to a Mogpendium, just like you had in the first part of the event:

The Mogpendium has all the details needed for collecting Tomestones. Instead of merely having several types of dungeons to farm, you'll have multiple new ways to obtain the new Tomestones:

  • Standard Objectives: This is the regular way of earning Tomestones. Simply complete the required duties (which will feature a Moogle icon in the duty finder).
    • Additionally, you can now also get Tomestones from GATEs (the Gold Saucer events) and Ocean Fishing routes. However, keep in mind that Tomestones are not rewarded when using adventurer squadrons or duty support, as the Level Sync option must be used for unrestricted parties. You will also need to score at least 1200 points when ocean fishing to earn Tomestones.
  • Weekly Objectives: Weekly objectives will be assigned to each player and updated every Tuesday at 12:00 AM (PST). You can check your weekly objectives through the Mogpendium, and completing them will earn you additional Tomestones.
  • Minimog Challenges: You will have to select one of two objectives, which can only be fulfilled once every week. It's a way to complete a variety of challenges during the event that you wouldn't normally do. Minimog challenges will also reset on Tuesday at 12:00 AM (PST).
  • Ultimog Challenges: These challenges can only be completed once during the duration of the event. They will give you a significant amount of Tomestones, so it is worth trying your luck!

You can check the Mogpendium at any given time during the event. Standard Objective rewards are automatically added to your inventory when you complete the duties, while the Weekly, Minimog, and Ultimog Challenges will have to be claimed through the Mogpendium.

Keep in mind that you will need to claim your Mogpendium rewards before the launch of Dawntrail!

Once you have enough Tomestones, head to the usual Itinerant Moogle to exchange them for rewards! You can find one near the main Crystal in each of the starting cities: Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks, New Gridania, and Ul’dah Steps of Nald.

Rewards from the Itinerant Moogle will be available until the release of patch 7.1.

Following some feedback regarding the first Chaos raid, the Final Fantasy XIV team decided to adjust some features! Here is everything you need to know!
The Cloud of Darkness raid is the first alliance fight that has been turned into a Chaos raid in Final Fantasy XIV!
It released with Patch 7.15 and marks the start of a new raid series for the game. The fight can be compared to Savage raids difficulty wise. If you manage to clear this fight, you will be rewarded with different items:
Clouddark Demimateria I Clouddark Demimateria II Those Demimateria can be exchanged against gear, mounts, hairstyles, and more!
The Final Fantasy XIV team has decided to adjust the rewards, and add the possibility to exchange several Clouddark Demimateria I for Clouddark Demimateria II.
Placeholder for tweet 1879121281162870974 Since the fight rewards you with more Demimateria I, you will now be able to exchange your leftovers for Demimateria II, allowing you to get the remaining rewards faster!
The change takes effect with patch 7.16.
Further adjustments may be made, depending on the feedback received.

Final Fantasy XIV is experiencing a large player drop since 7.0 and 7.1, soon hitting under 1 million active players!
Dawntrail has received mixed reviews, and the game has not been doing so good since the release of patch 7.0. Despite new content such as the World of Darkness Chaotic Raid or the latest Alliance Raid, which both received good feedback, it seems that the majority of players have nothing to do in the game right now.
The latest data report published on December 29, 2024, by Lucky Bancho, provides an analysis of player activity in Final Fantasy XIV following the release of Patch 7.1. The report indicates a decline in active characters:
The number of active players decreased by 120,000, going from 1.15 million to approximately 1.03 million New character creation has slowed, with about 47,000 new characters, down from 54,000 in the previous period The number of players still active since the previous update is around 830,000, a decrease of 170,000 The number of returning players who were previously inactive but have now become active is approximately 120,000, an increase of 20,000 The number of active players right now is close to falling below 1 Million. This means it will soon be lower than before Shadowbringer's peak number of players.
The report suggests that the overall decline in active characters may be attributed to various factors, including player engagement with new content, community dynamics, and broader gaming trends. It emphasizes the importance of entertaining story and content to attract and retain players.
      The main issues being:
Dawntrail's story did not attract the majority of players. Many felt bored and stopped playing right after they were done with MSQ The lack of content. While Savage, Chaotic, and Ultimate came out after 7.1, it is not content you will eternally grind once you completed it a couple of times Party Finder. With the possibility to jump servers, and being forced to use party finder for raiding, a lot of players end up in empty servers with no possibility to jump to "raiding servers" because they end up already full. Players end up giving up and stop playing until the next patch releases Lack of casual content: nothing has been released that will allow you to grind casually every day for rewards, mounts, glam, or anything else. Even events only take a few minutes to complete, there is nothing that keeps players entertained right now A lot of other reasons can be found for the massive drop in players right now. While it is always expected in MMO games, it is still concerning considered previews expansions never saw such a decrease in active players in FFXIV. We can only hope that Square Enix will take it into account to change things for the future!
For a the complete analysis, you can refer to the original report by Lucky Bancho.
