Twona 1 Report post Posted November 26, 2014 With RoF nerfs, what is our best option for CM trash AoE? I figured I'll play demo (against my own will, because I hate it) for bosses, since it's likely the highest single target damage, but what about the rest of the dungeon? Putting a gold group together this weekend, and I don't want to be that guy who falls behind the tanks in damage because of my class. How is charred remains + F&B CB? I've still yet to try it since it's kind of a huge pain in the butt to use.
Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted November 26, 2014 Are you going for golds or completion? CM trash has lots of nuances that typically need to be handled, but they're all handled by killing them faster. Affliction is out, so we can toss that one. Cataclysm comes to play, but its 60 second CD is troublesome for CMs. Destruction Charred Remains may have some value in CMs - unknown to me without testing, but the rotation is literally Incinerate -> Chaos Bolt -> Incinerate, etc. Choices look to be: Demonology - Demonic Servitude - Abyssal/Infernal (with Service) Demonology - Catalysm - Felguard with GoService Destruction - Catalysm Destruction - Charred Remains Without testing, I would assume Demonology Cataclysm with Felguard GoServ would win out for CMs.
Twona 1 Report post Posted November 26, 2014 Going for golds. I suppose with the immense amount of trash being pulled, cataclysm or CR will probably win out, eh? I ignored destro completely yesterday and just assumed it was awful with nerfed ember regen for single target, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe I'll play around with CR since it has more ST merit than cataclysm for bosses.
Twona 1 Report post Posted November 26, 2014 Also, I never even considered cataclysm for demo because doom bolt spike damage is huge. I suppose that could be a thing worth looking into
Soulzar 42 Report post Posted November 26, 2014 (edited) Ironically, for CM and Heroics I was finding myself Single targeting more than AoEing as even with 4 targets it was better to Cata followed by Havoc+CB...By the time that was done a mob is at half health, I shoot another BC and SB it to finish off. Now we have 3 targets, one at half health... so again no reason to F&B. I CB that one and SB it and repeat until pack is dead. I wasn't even using F&B, but depended on the ember generation from RoF to help keep the cleave high enough to compete with others AoEing. I was at a bit of a loss what to do now myself. The day after I bit the bullet and dual specced dual destro single/aoe .. they do this. I've gone ahead and changed one back to demo now, but I honestly dont know which one is stronger for ST/AoE anymore lol. One thing I never liked about Demo was how much resource you must invest to AoE effectively, now Destro has the exact same problem. SMH Swapping between two destro specs was fine, as you would retain your banked resources for the pull. Changing destro to demo... You are losing all your embers or Fury... yuck. For the CMs with larger pulls and/or very quick pulls, I'm finding charred remains to be incredibly good. Cataclysm has it's uses for CMs with smaller numbers of targets, ie <=4. I think I could make demo work in the CMs with larger pulls because of the HoG aoe, but once HoG/felstorm end, if ANYTHING is alive you just do 0 aoe because immo/hellfire tickle.
