Players Are Unhappy with the War Within Pre-Patch Event

Recommended Posts

Sn-mka-obrazovky-2024-07-31-o-16-09-37.j

Players are expressing dissatisfaction with the Radiant Echoes pre-patch event. Here's a closer look at their concerns and potential solutions.

While players appreciate that the event is beneficial for leveling, there are several areas where they feel improvements are needed. The primary issues revolve around the event's timer and duration. Although the timer will be reduced to 60 minutes next week and to 30 minutes the week after, currently, players have to wait 90 minutes for the event to start, which can be completed in just 5 minutes.

If you isolate the gameplay of the prepatch event its honestly bizarre how bad it is.

Another significant concern is the event's grindy nature. Vendor prices are noticeably higher compared to the Dragonflight pre-patch event, and mobs don't drop many Residual Memories when the event is not active.

This pre-patch event is sooooo bad.

How bad can this event be?

Let's delve into the rewards and their steep costs. Reddit user dalq calculated that regular mobs drop less currency (1-3 Residual Memories compared to 3-5 in the Dragonflight pre-patch event), necessitating the killing of elites to gather the same amount. Meanwhile, the prices of items have increased dramatically:

  • Two-handed weapons are now 180 times more expensive, requiring about 16 boss kills compared to 3 in the Dragonflight pre-patch event.
  • Pet prices have jumped from 250 essences to 10,000 Residual Memories, a 40-fold increase, and there are three pets instead of just one, meaning you must kill 20 bosses now compared to just 5 in the previous event.
  • The price of bags has increased 400-fold, from 5 essences to 2,000.

Completing the three weekly quests for 1,500 Residual Memories each week over three weeks will only provide enough currency for a single pet and one of the cheapest gear tokens. In the Dragonflight pre-patch event, bosses spawned every 20 minutes, allowing players to gather essences in raid groups and realm hop in LFG to get multiple boss kills per rotation.

The cost of TWW pre-patch rewards vs DF pre-patch is kind of ludicrous in comparison
byu/dalq inwow

In summary, players need approximately 330,000 Residual Memories to buy everything.

  • Normal mobs give 1-5 Residual Memories, meaning you need to kill between 66,000 and 330,000 mobs.
  • Elites drop 10 Residual Memories, so you need to kill 33,000 elites.
  • The weekly boss gives 500 Residual Memories, requiring you to kill 660 bosses to buy everything from the quartermaster.
  • The weekly quest gives 1,500 Residual Memories, meaning you need to complete 220 quests to afford everything.

Assuming it takes 5 seconds to kill a mob, killing 33,000 elites would take around 46 hours.

This is how much time you need to spend in Prepatch event
byu/Cedd_ inwow

To improve the pre-patch event, players suggest changing the weekly quests to daily and having the event up in all three locations simultaneously. These changes could make the event more engaging and rewarding for everyone involved.

Blizzard could fix the Pre patch event incredibly easily.

Honestly, I'd just buy 4 32 slot bag per character and leave it alone after that. You'll replace all the gear you get with greens once the expansion launches anyway and the transmog is just an argus recolor.

I just want bags and mount. I don't understand complaining about gear that is going to be replaced with quest greens very quickly.

Its not about the gear as gear - its about transmog

After being gone for 3 years, things still seem to be the same with Blizzard.  Not thinking or play testing is still not going well, it seems. Give me back the old map compass and time, heck even the standard screen, etc as before.  Yeah, I am proud to be a Luddite.  Let me be able to withdraw gold from my guild banks (there sitting in 6 guild banks, over 10,000,000 gold, but I can't withdraw it.).  Give back the the old realm listing that shows the toons on each, not all jumbled up together into some kind of mosh pit.  And I was under the impression that for transmorg any armor was available for the look.  Yes, I want my plate wearers to have buccaneer boots that clothies can wear.  And this trading post in each capital city, what is it for?  And golly, where did these AH prices come from? Why are these folks feeding off of the world situation of global inflation?  And hi IV, you said I would be back and you were right.

UPDATE- Alright! The gold withdraw from the guild bank has been fixed.  I do hope everything else that is bugged gets fix too, though to be honest, I have no idea what those other things are.  I am so over whelmed it isn't funny. 🤪

At this point the only way to reasonably obtain even the mounts and pets is to have multiple alts who can complete the weekly as that plus the boss kills are the only way to get decent amounts of currency. Grinding mobs for 1-5 memories each is idiotic, and having a 90 (or even 30) minute event that ends in the first 5 minutes is downright stupid.

This wasn’t tested on the PTR as far as I know and it’s obviously something that would have benefited from user feedback prior to release.

WoW players and discontent...

THAT never happens

Just about any game and discontent, just look at FFXIV people complaining about "difficulty" like WoW players did during original cata

Not really interested in the armor; just mainly want the ring and the mounts.  Did 2 out of 3 events last night and was falling asleep waiting on the third in Dustwallow Marsh for Onyxia.  I get it they are getting all those a chance to be present  when the event goes up in that zone but the time is just way too long.

Think I'll just stick with the weekly quests and move on back to Raid and Keys.

The event is for leveling alts.  Just like it always has been.  However, the cost of the items you can buy is ridiculous. If you have a maxed alt that you are going to main in the next expansion, the gear from this event isn’t what you want. Do the dailies on your main for the mounts and pets and be done.

The event is bugged, non  rewarding, too low of gear and no crests, a waste of time, no nostalgia as the bosses fall over, no build up, has nothing to do with the end of dragonflight  or the expansion.  I will be honest here.  I have played the beta for a while now.  There is nothing in it that is new.  I like the zones, but that is  about it.  The story is meh, the journey is super meh.  The multitude of new currencies will suck.  The rep grind and zone events will be useless as dungeons and raids will be the only real path to get gear.  What is going on at MicroLizzard?  An expansion takes years before it is ever put in place.  What do these  people do that are supposed to be designing?  They have years to come up with just one spark of imagination.  With a plethora of tools  in AI, forum feedback, in game feedback, other games, movies, books.  What do these people do all day?

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

How to Get the Spirit of Eche'ro Mount
      1. Download MapCoords or some other add-os that displays coordinates in the game.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
