SwitchbladeSuzyQ 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2014 With the change from MoP to WoD, it became abundantly clear to me that there was a large impact on energy regen for WWs. It only pinnacled last night during the Highmaul raid. I'm running out of energy, which is costing me precious DPS. I've studied the rotations (perhaps not enough). Rising Sun on cooldown, FoF on cooldown, Energizing Brew on cooldown, and Serenity on cooldown. And yet there are still times in between these that I am falling flat on my face. Boosting haste means sacrificing multistrike, and thus DPS, for a pathetic boost to energy regen. It's not worth it. And yet I feel as though if I back off on haste any more in lieu of multistrike, that I'm going to be auto-attacking for the whole fight waiting for my little yellow bar to refill. Heaven forbid I use Blackout Kick while not under the effect of Energizing Brew or Serenity. So I am limited to Tiger Palm, and even then there are periods where I can do nothing but auto-attack due to low (and slow replenishing) energy. Granted, I am only in dungeon heroic gear at this point, but even so I feel like I should be getting at least a little more bang for my buck. Is anyone else having this issue? Could this be a stat issue or is this a rotation/energy consumption issue? Any advice would be so very welcome!

Don't worry too much, even Simcraft has WW Monks having ~15% downtime for Pre-Raid gear levels (630).
Guest Report post Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) Well comparing the Monk downtime based on ilvl 630 simulations: WW 1h or 2h ~15% Feral Druid ~47% Sub Rogue ~37% / Combat Rogue ~28% / Assassination Rogue ~40% Unholy DK ~15% / Frost DK ~18% Ret Paladin ~3% (they're pretty simple to play though) Arms Warrior ~22% / Fury Warrior ~13% So, in my opinion, they're not in that bad of a place in terms of melee classes. Cacos 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2014 I'm having the exact same issue. I'm currently sitting on ilvl 640 and sometimes I have no energy to cast anything. And i'm only reaching like 16k dps (as per recount) on a raid training dummy. I've tried different talents, like chi explosion over serenity and ascension over chi brew and I always end up having no energy to cast stuff. My low dps maybe due to some rotation errors but the downtime is annoying, having to wait like 3/4 sec for energy for one jab is kinda painful. If you want to check my stats here's my armory: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/ragnaros/Cerveja/simple Have a nice day!

Dummies aren't an accurate representation since you aren't at full raid buffs. That said, do expect to be waiting for a good 10s for every minute on energy.

I know but, I think it's still kinda low, since the on a initial burst (i've used skada now) I've reached over 20k, I just couldn't keep up.
saoirc 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) I haven't actually had this problem but I'm always thinking in terms of energy regeneration instead of raw dps so that may be why. I always try to time my FoF/Serenity for when I will have no energy so I can use them for energy generation as much as possible. Against a target dummy I think I still have some downtime but in most boss fights there are semi-regular moments of knockback or other forced downtime that I can time to build up more energy and I end up with very little real downtime. Edit: I also use the Ascension talent. Edited December 9, 2014 by saoirc
