I came here in summer 2014, and you helped me become the top dps of my group.  

 

And now I'm in need of critique. Did i transition Mop->WoD correctly with the rotation, am I missing something?  

 

Because right now, at ilvl 541 im doing just 18.5k dps on butcher.

This is the main log, I did everything correctly (only once butcher had no immolate on for <5seconds). A few misclicks, but overall - I see no fault with this.  

But my damage says otherwise.

Unless I'm going blind I only show you on 1 parse of the Butcher and you did around 13k.  Maybe wrong log?

Here, you're listed at 12.6k DPS over 4:54 where you were alive 98.9% of the time.  Let's find out what went wrong.

 

1. Immolate uptime was at 95%.  This is ok.

2. Incinerate damage was higher than Chaos Bolt damage.  This is puzzling.

3. Ah, I see where the problem lies - you didn't use your level 100 talent AT ALL.

 

You don't have a pet out at all, didn't use Cataclysm, and your Incinerate damage is too high for you to be using Charred Remains.  

 

Just to be 100% sure, I checked if you had GoSac up - you did not.  The Terrorguard is such a high portion of your DPS that there is absolutely no excusable way to not make 100% sure that he is both alive and casting.

You made absolutely sure that you were capped on Burning Embers for the full duration of Bloodlust.  Not using Burning Embers is a critical gameplay mistake that should have been learned in 5 mans, let alone a Heroic attempt at a raiding boss.  This is inexcusable.

 

Your two largest mistakes are off-the-charts wrong.  Not using Chaos Bolt and not using a pet.  There's nothing we can do to help you with this.  You need to head back to the Destruction guide and re-read.  Then, you need to head to a target dummy and practice.  Don't care about your DPS - care about your MECHANICS.  Use Chaos Bolt appropriately with your trinkets and summon your pet.
