Tyla 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2014 Let me preface by saying; I in no way believe myself to be the best priest/healer or player around; however, I have healed across multiple different mmo's and classes. I've always preferred support/healing classes, so I understand the role fairly well. I usually pull respectable numbers and recently have been doing a lot of research on disc play and rotations (and watching Gwen's videos) in an effort to tighten up my rotation and up my game play tostart heroic/mythic raiding for the first time. Anyhow, tonight I was running LFR and topping the meters. (And yes, I know it's just LFR) By the time we reached Twin Ogron, a monk started complaining and asking how I was doing so much healing and how disc was supposed to have been nerfed, or at least shields nerfed for WoD. Another monk agreed but added they didn't think Skada had counted shields properly until this expansion. I kept quiet through it all as I am rather shy. But I mentioned it in guild chat and numerous guildies agreed that disc was currently OP and boring. So my question to you all; do you feel disc is currently OP as is? I certainly don't find it boring, and I didn't think it was OP but now I just wonder if it actually is and if we should be expecting a nerf in our future. Brewmonksta 157 Report post Posted December 17, 2014 Disc is still "OP" when the amount of damage going out is equal to what you can absorb. LFR is such a joke a 1 armed blind octopus could top healing as a disc priest. When you hit Mythic and damage going out is far more than can be absorbed we then are less "OP" and the topup healers can shine. We are quite powerful for a certain niche and when content is overgeared.
Tyla 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2014 Okay. I know LFR is currently ridiculously easy, and we're currently starting into n/h raids in guild, but was the first I had heard of Disc currently being OP.
Brewmonksta 157 Report post Posted December 17, 2014 My guild is currently 2/7 Mythic and as a disc priest we bring a definite benefit and are powerful but IMO we are not in the realm of OP.
Nuadria 20 Report post Posted December 18, 2014 (edited) Disc could be considered a little OP in certain areas under certain conditions, but it is still a little lacking in AoE healing. Edited December 18, 2014 by Nuadria
Phideas 3 Report post Posted December 18, 2014 We'll always top the meters when damage is low because absorbs will always count before healing. Traditional healing classes don't even get the opportunity to heal until our shields are gone, which is one reason that having disc priests in the raid can actually reduce other class's HPS. It's another reason that healing meters don't tell the entire story.
