New to Disc priest

Hi, 

 

Sorry i am new to these forums,  I'm just looking for a little advice , I'm currently the Disc priest for my guild,  This is the first time i have been a disc priest, I have been looking at the guides here on icy-veins which have been really helpful.

 

Just wondering if there is anything i could be doing different, Could i be using a certain spell more?,

Be sure to stack mastery, it is currently the best choice in terms of secondary stats. It should go Mastery>Crit>Multistrike. The multistrike may or may not be subject to change, but the Mastery>Crit is the current priority.

 

As for your usage of spells, you should primarily be using PW:S/CoW. PoM was somewhat nerfed, and isn't as useful to use now, and should only be used in periods of low raid damage. You should also make use of Holy Nova, because in low>Moderate(Depending) damage periods it will do well, and it can be cast while moving as well, which is an added bonus. Good luck!

I have gone with mastery,  I'm currently going oom quite a lot is there anything i can do to help me with the mana regen?

1) Make sure you're not over-using Prayer of Healing. I used to go OOM a lot, until I discovered that PoH only heals the target's group, not the entire raid. I'd be spamming PoH without realizing that no one was actually being healed, and that drained my mana quickly.

 

2) Cast PW:Solace on cooldown.

Does PW :Solace gain more mana then Mindbender ?

 

If so is there a macro were i can just press it so it targets the boss to use it ?

PW: Solace is the best Mana Regen talent that we have if you use it on CD religiously.

 

I'm not a good macro writer but as far as I know you would have to adjust it per boss because of the name change and to avoid breaking CC on whatever mob Tab would target.

I'm at work on my phone so can't easily track it down now. But last week I googled something similar and found what I needed. "Mindbender holy fire macro" was basically what I searched (I'm a mind bender guy obviously) and found what I needed for both. It's basically a target of target macro so that while staying on tank, I could easily keep holy fire and mindbender rolling. They also still function if you directly target a mob, so it can just replace said spell on your bars. Find similar macro, replace holy fire or mindbender with the spell you want (suggest shift click from spellbook for accurate name), and you should be good.

I allways have the boss (or any add we need to kill off with high hp) in target, since I use mouseover macros to cast my heals. Then no macro is needed to cast PW:S.

 

Otherwise, if you target the tanks/raid the macro should be something like:

/cast [@targettarget,harm,nodead][] Power Word: Solace

 

 

At work now, so can't test it though.
