Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 Affliction Key: DS = Demonic Servitude; SB:H = Soulburn:Haunt *NOTE: All of these sims are being done at 666 item level, which is a solid value for guilds pushing into Mythic currently and an item level fully achieveable by those who never run Mythic. Basically, for 1 target, you'll still want Supremacy, Demonic Servitude, and the 4pc. Going from 0 tier to 2pc for ST is a jump from 26547 to 28033, a 5.6% DPS gain. Going from 2pc to 4pc jumps you from 28033 to 28897, a 3.1% DPS gain, which is to be expected from the flat damage bonus. For 2 targets, SB:H pulls out a good bit ahead of Demonic Servitude with the 4pc bonus. This is true if you do not have any tier pieces at all, but the gap is much smaller. For all Nightfall purposes, with 0 tier, an average of 27 Soul Shards were generated. With the same time block, the 4pc generates 43 Soul Shards. This raises the uptime of Haunting Spirits from 80% to 94%.
Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 Demonology Key: DB = Demonbolt; Syn = Synergy; Sup = Supremacy; Cata = Cataclysm; Serv = Service Pretty funny to see how little effect the different Grimoires make for Demonology. Take the one you like the best. I think this will be different for 2 targets (or more), but for single target, Demonbolt wins by a large margin and it doesn't matter what Grimoire you take. It is to note that going from 0pc to 2pc is worth about 650 DPS, or a 2.5% gain. Going from 2pc to 4pc is worth about the same, or a 2.3% gain. Demonbolt seemingly winning, even on two targets, but by a smaller amount. Synergy also seems to come ahead when we add a secondary cleave target, likely because of the buff to Hand of Gul'dan and the Felguard's Cleave attack. In the uncommon case you'd get Synergy to line up with a DB burn, hello big damage. The difference between Synergy and Supremacy is still only 1.5%, but it does exist. Here appears to be the breakpoint for Cataclysm. With 3 targets, Synergy Cataclysm trumps the rest. Also, Service and Synergy pull way ahead of Supremacy. At this point, Cata takes the cake and eats it, too. Synergy also starts to pull away from Service. At 10 targets, Demonbolt doesn't even get a participation award. Honorable mention to Demonic Servitude Abyssal, which enters the fray. Why is this? Well, once you get to 10 targets, your pet choice doesn't really matter because 75% of your damage comes from Shadowflame, Hand of Gu'dan, Doom, Chaos Wave, and Corruption. Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 Destruction Pretty clear winner for Destruction single-target. Supremacy Demonic Servitude performs pretty well with 0 tier pieces coming in at 26321. With 2pc, it goes up to 27368, a gain of 4.0%. With 4pc, it goes up another 4.9% to 28711. Supremacy Cataclysm and Sacrifice Cata are not too far behind on single target. Chaotic Resources isn't optimal. For two targets, Cataclysm pulls ahead with Supremacy. Just behind it is Sacrifice Cata with Supremacy Demonic Servitude falling to 3rd with a secondary target. This is interesting because Sac will definitely gain some value from both the 2pc and 4pc with the boost to Chaos Bolt. Chaotic Resources begins to fall. Let's explore 3 targets to see if anything changes from 2 targets. At 3 targets, Supremacy Cataclysm is almost equal to Sacrifice Cataclysm. Chaotic Resources continues to plummet through the ranks. At 10 targets, Chaotic Resources FINALLY finds its place at the top. Check out the crazy part at the top with the 2pc beating out the 4pc. They're close enough that it's reasonable. Over 50% of the damage done in this cycle is FnB Chaos Bolt, so it looks like it has its place at 5+ targets.
Liquidsteel 279 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 I'd like to make a request that you also do this for 685+, to give an idea of how we'll look going into Mythic Foundry.
Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 I'd like to make a request that you also do this for 685+, to give an idea of how we'll look going into Mythic Foundry. These sims take FOREVER to weed out gear, remove shit, stack stuff, rename, copy, paste, and then run. I'll be doing one at 666 right now and then 701 at BiS. I'll let people extrapolate values in between if they care enough, but 666 and 701 should be enough to show trend differences. I have 3.5 more hours at work - we'll see what I get done. I got 4 hours tomorrow before leaving, so I should be done with them all.
Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 Aff was very easy to model since I didn't look at Cata, although that may have been a mistake for 2 targets. I'll take a look. Demo is taking a long time because I have to look at Sup vs Serv vs Syn and then DB vs Cata (not looking at Demonic Serv). Once the tiers are modeled to figure out which specs need tier bonuses, I'll just sim BiS gear and not worry about building sims that include 0 and 2pc bonuses. Should go faster for max ilvl. Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 The small differences between grimoires for Demonology makes me laugh. Also, DB > Cata for single target. I accidentally wiped my profile to generate the same thing for 2 targets. This makes me cry.
Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 Note for Demonology - Supremacy is good until another target enters the field. Then, suprisingly, Synergy trumps Service, too.
Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 So if you were to compare the three top builds for each spec, this is what it looks like at single-target... 1st - Affliction = 28,897 2nd - Destruction = 28,711 3rd - Demonology = 27,897 These numbers are very balanced. If you open it up to 2 targets, it changes drastically. 1st - Affliction = 36,428 2nd - Demonology = 35,967 3rd - Destruction = 32,516 Destruction falls off pretty significantly with a secondary target while Demonology and Affliction stay close. Do the Destro 2 target numbers include the Havoc "buff" (I'm not sure if it went live yet or if was just talk, I'm not near the game atm)

Soulzar 42 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 Destruction falls off pretty significantly with a secondary target while Demonology and Affliction stay close. This is ironic given Destro was to be strong Cleave spec

Juloroh 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2015 Small mistake Zag, you refered to CR in "destru CR" as Chaotic Ressources...I think it should be Charred Remains.
Orthios 271 Report post Posted January 14, 2015 Small mistake Zag, you refered to CR in "destru CR" as Chaotic Ressources...I think it should be Charred Remains. For Destruction, Chaotic Resources (CR) IS Charred Remains (also CR). Just like for Affliction Chaotic Resources is SB:Haunt and for Demo it is Demonbolt. Battlespring 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2015 Zagam, Thank you for all the work on this. Slightly odd question though. Is it worth dropping from 670 ilvl chest to the 665 Tier Chest? if so, at what ilvl difference would this drop in ilvl not be worth going for the tier piece?
Drkdragon 9 Report post Posted January 16, 2015 Battlespring, It would depend if you would be getting a set bonus or not with the piece. A single tier piece would be straight ilvl value.
Battlespring 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2015 Maybe i should rephrase the question. How much ilvl is each of the tier bonuses worth?
Recklessfear 33 Report post Posted January 30, 2015 Maybe i should rephrase the question. How much ilvl is each of the tier bonuses worth? Really not a question that can be easily answer. You should always sim your character if you're not sure to take a specific piece of gear.
Twinkielock 15 Report post Posted February 6, 2015 I think his point is that in previous tiers it was vital to get the set bonus. Meaning LFR set bonus > (Then heroic, now mythic) off pieces. So basically in WoD is Normal Set bonus > Mythic off pieces.
Liquidsteel 279 Report post Posted February 6, 2015 I Wouldn't drop many mythic pieces for the 4 set. 25ilvl is a rather steep drop.
Twinkielock 15 Report post Posted February 6, 2015 What about the 2 set bonus? For Demonology specifically.
Scathbais 1 Report post Posted February 6, 2015 What about the 2 set bonus? For Demonology specifically. That should be an easy one since the 2-pc is a flat damage increase. Since it is a straight damage increase, the simcraft should give you a fairly accurate answer.
